I love how people just walk by as a violinist plays one of the greatest pieces ever composed for the solo violin and have no idea: 1. how beautiful of a piece this is 2. how difficult it is to play this 3. how talented this guy is.
Crazy to see all the people just walk past, oblivious to the nearly flawless performance of one of the most difficult and sublime pieces for solo violin ever composed
It just goes to show how disconnected we have become from true music, art, beauty & genius as most just walk by. It is one of the greatest human creations of all time across any field. Yet it does require sustained attention to truly appreciate it's structure, recurring themes & journey through so many emotions. Bach had come home from a trip only to discover his wife was dead & buried. I've been lucky to hear this live in a concert room but it would be so special to also hear it unexpectedly on the streets away from the pedestal. While everyone else is attracted to the loudest speaker, I will be there with a few special others revelling in the glory of this divine creation!
Respect! Solid techniques, very fine performing especially disruptions on the street and still able to maintain those details and transitions between notes. The intonation is perfect and is definitely world class level. We need more of these musician on the street❤ I would have tip in €50 notes if I was there. Very touching
I can't even begin to get across how difficult this piece is. The violin is never comfortable to play as multiple strings, chords are broken and awkward to get to and with an acoustic violin the chance of crunching this high chords is huge but histone was sweet and light and then heavy and back to light. My chaconne is a shade of this one. I'm jealous in the nicest way possible.
"On one stave, for a small instrument, the man writes a whole world of the deepest thoughts and most powerful feelings. If I imagined that I could have created, even conceived the piece, I am quite certain that the excess of excitement and earth-shattering experience would have driven me out of my mind." - Johannes Brahms about Bach's Chaconne
And then, of course, he sat down and transcribed it (magnificently) for piano, for which all of us pianists are profoundly grateful. For those who can pass this by without a pause, I weep.
European civiization died. The violinist had to be surrounded with a croud of listeners! A'm shocked! Nobody but one gave him money!!! Thanks, Artiom, your performance is wonderful.
Actually Europe is the same as ever. Classical music in the past was meant to be enjoyed by the select few, not the mass. It's exactly the same nowadays. Not everyone is capable to enjoy 15 minutes of music, even the most beautiful, just like not everyone is capable of sitting through a 4 hours epic movie.

Wirklich gut gemacht!
This man seems to me a light in the darkness, his notes illuminating the streets around him with music masterfully wrought. May he continue to be a sound rising above the noise of life, lifting all those who will listen to a place of solace, if only for the seemingly temporary duration of this masterpiece.

There's no reason to think you can't if you can play the violin- and if you can't play the violin yet, well we all started at that point too! Artiom is an average good player but more than that he's just someone who loves to play the violin. He started out not knowing how to play it same as anyone else, right? He still has a "day job", or he did when this was made, just FYI.
As chaconne is one of my favourites, best one is played by hilary hahn and then this guy has played marvellously there was some glitch(well thats bcoz he is playing outside ) . Altast , i would say BRAVO!!!
Stop the comments about giving money. This piece deserves to be listened to without paying anything. The woman who gave money just left so it is disrespectful. And the performance is great. Maybe a small reason that some people don't want to stand and listen is because they feel they are required to pay.
I've been a street musician for many years. Artists need to pay their bills somehow and if money isn't coming in the case we're not going to be out there playing.

A few notes: 1. He's not overdoing vibrato, like many overdo it, and it sounds great! 2. Flawless intonation. 3. More legato than my taste, but great nonetheless. 4. Shaking his right wrist when done reminds me of when I was working on it. Hard on the wrist to keep going non-stop by yourself. 5. How does he memorize the whole thing? I could only get down about 2 pages.
He is really good. at 5:10 he even plays those little grace (or pickup?) notes. Why isn't he auditioning for the Paris Symphony Orchestra or something?
If I hear this on the street, I don't think I would be able to continue on my way.
I think we would listen together... even if i would miss my train. This deserves a better audience.

Pretty funny, this is not a "street violinist" it's Artiom Shishkov, a well known Russian-born virtuoso. Terrific performance by the way.
And he is at Place des Vosges, Paris.
Not "russian-born", he's belarusian violinist (Belarus is not Russia!)))
Well he might not be a "street violinist" but as far as I can see he plays on the street!!! Where I live street musicians are forbidden!
