The first one is the Macy's bow....Mr. Macy needed a way to make bows in advance and store them to make wrapping gifts more efficient. So, he invented a V cutter that cuts the V's in the bows......You just tie them off and store them pre-made then, when you need one just get it out, fluff it and add tails!! Quick and simple for his employees! He was a genius of his time!!!! My grandmother used this type of bow in all her clothing stores since Mr. Macy started selling the cutter and bowmaker!!!!! Actually, I think I still own the original cutter and bowmaker from one of her stores. Nice to see someone teaching this easy method!!! It's a lost technique today!!! It will allow you to make ANY bow in advance and store it for later without flattening or bending.

Hello Jessica! That is such wonderful information and I’m so glad to know all of it now. It’s so sweet that your grandmother used this technique in her store and how cool that you own the cutter and bowmaker. This technique is very easy and you’re right about it being so convenient in making bows in advance. Thank you for sharing that story with me and I appreciate you watching, Lori.

I have learned more and gained more insight in this one video by you than I have from all the others combined. I have struggled and struggled to make bows for years! My Mom is a great bow maker, and she tried to teach me, but I could never figure out all the looping and twisting! Lol! But, you are Amazing! You are so thorough with your step by step directions it helped me SO much! My husband is an artist and he brought some ribbon home and with pleading in his eyes asked me to make a bow for some of his art pieces! I panicked a little, but then I remembered I saw a bow tutorial on your channel! So I pulled it up, watched it carefully and just gave it my best try! I was able to make two bows! They aren’t super fancy, but they are what he needed! So thank you, from me and my hubby!💖💖💖

The star bow as you call it is exactly what I call it. I showed my 7 yr old granddaughter how to make that and she helped me make about 30 bows that year. She went home and made one for her mother and she had her making a bunch of them that year for pkgs. I put mine on stems, dow sticks, limbs off of the trees outside or whatever I had and stuck them in my tree.

Hello, there Denise. That is called the Bowdabra which is the gray one that looks square, it is a little complicated to the ones that have problems with their hands. Also, their one that I use also called the EZ Bow Maker that one if from Hobby Lobby and you could use a coupon is at the Christmas section where they have the ribbons. It is very inexpensive. This is a large mat that you could get there as well, but it is very expensive on the mat you could use the coupon. I will send you a line to my Amazon affiliated store. I will send you the mani page and also to the item, as well. Thank you, Lori.

If you're using the Bowdabra, firstly, you don't need to twist and turn in your hands - that's why you use the bow-making machine - to make everything so much easier! Secondly, you don't pull out the ribbon from the Bowdabra and then twist your wire to secure it - you place the wire through the opposite side of the machine and pull it up to tie before removing the bow...
I've made the most spectacular bows using pearls and other embellishments using the Bowdabra... it made my life so easy when I was preparing my daughter's wedding! Nobody believed I had made all the decor!

Hello Queen Cleo! The only time I twist the bow in my hands when using a Bowmaker is when the ribbon is patterned and I want the design going the same way. Also it’s just a habit when I remove the bow and then tie it together but the Bowdabra wire is meant to be laid down under the bow. I love all my bowmakers and they all make bows so much easier to make. I’m sure all the decor was beautiful at the wedding. Thank you for watching, Lori.

You are so welcome there, Theresa. Now, you have many choices. I will try to make another one using the Pro Bow and the EZ Bow Maker and by hands as well. Thank you, Lori.
