  • In this episode Installing An EPDM Rubber Roof (Part 2: Insulation), Tony explains how to insulate a flat roof. This is a warm flat roof using Kingspan TR27. After cutting all the insulation to size, using Insta-Stik roofing adhesive they are fixed in place, ready for the next stage of the process which is installing the waterproof membrane.
    PLEASE NOTE: we’ll endeavour to answer questions and comments as soon as possible depending on our work schedules.

      @stephenmurray4916 Před 3 lety

      @@BuildWithAE Hey tony. The fiber glass is very weather dependent if it rains while the resin is curing you are up shit creek, also doesn't do well in cold. A cobalt additive can be used for under 6 degrees but still not a good as laying it on a warm day. Still a good product when used correctly.

    I'm just in the process of building the flat roof and lantern on my extension so this video series has been a fantastic help. A couple of questions for you if that's ok?
    1. Did you cut falls in two directions on some of the firing strips so there is no lip in the ply where one sheet meets another in a different plane?

    I comented before about using ply on a flat roof, but as this is a warm roof it wont matter as the ply wont be subject to accumulated heat and de laminate, it would be nice tho if you went into more detail about how you acheved your falls and the materials used, i appreciate your channel and if i was a rich man ( diddle diddle) i wouldn't hesitate to use your firm.

    Good vid as always. The attention to detail is great but I do hope that adhesive holds the foil back pir and top deck down securely long term. I am sure that it is most likely fine as there does not look to be large exposed areas without perimeter constraint. When looking to do this myself late last year I found this vid very good. czcams.com/video/RBINlVX0jOc/video.html . This chap seems to know the game well and is a great source of info- approachable too! . Based off of this, my choice was to use mechanical fasteners . Its not quite as pretty as you can see the fastener washer telegraphing through the epdm ply but i know its going to stay secure. Also quick question why not 150mm pir for new build extension?. Keep up the quality content - i learn lots

    • @BuildWithAE
      @BuildWithAE  Před 3 lety +2

      Hi reedy thanks for your kind words that link is cool, the insulation that he is showing is foil PIR, the insulation we used TR27 cloth sheet based designed to be stuck down, you also might of noticed that instead of 300mm spacing as advised it was more like 150mm even sometimes 100mm the glue is massively strong but that being said I think in massive open exposed locations this has to be considered.
