I owned the grid-dot version of this bag (a little lighter) and I really liked it. While it fits well on the back horizontally, I found when I slung it from that position to the front (my main usage for slings, which is access without taking the bag off) it ended up awkwardly vertical. Not ideal for my usage commuting, where I go from standing to sitting on trains etc. often. If you can wear it on your back exclusively, and treat it like a light backpack (albeit with one strap) it works well. The laptop sleeve is nice and big and can fit a 15.6" thinkpad, but it is unpadded, so you may be better off with a smaller laptop in its own protective sleeve inside of this.

Good review Klint! Glad to see you liked the bag. I’m the original owner I traded the TP3 with you. A little history of the sling pack, I bought it at the DSPTCH store in San Francisco, I’ve heard they’ve closed their physical location 😢. When you buy a bag at the store, you can pick what color zipper pulls you want. They had a few more colors to chose from but I thought that was a fun touch. I agree on the dark interior, but I loved using it for work travel as my work bag and as my personal item. Thanks again!

Clint, you are a bad, bad influence on me buddy! Haha! So after rocking the Bellroy 9L (I love that bag so much I bought it in two colors) I thought it might be time for a little change. I saw this video and decided to pop on over to the Dsptch website to see what's what. I ended up getting the Black Ballistic Sling Pouch (large) and, man, I love that bag! The bag this this padding like section that caresses your body and makes for such a nice fit. And the zippers are buttery smooth. So yeah, I'm digging it a great deal. I like the bag in this video but it was a tad too big but the Sling Pouch (large) is just right. Thanks for the vid, Clint!
You are most welcome! The fun thing about loving bags is that you can change them all the time and just sell the ones you’re not using. It’s a much cheaper hobbies than cars or guitars.
I'd love to see reviews from you of two newly released bags from Osprey: Aeode series, the messenger and the crossbody. I'm a big osprey fan for camping/mtb/travel bags, but never used them for edc. Both seem like they'd be interesting options and right in line with the sorts of bags you review here. Thanks for the quality content!

Is over a 150 dollars the new standard price for sling bags these days? Great vid as always
I think it depends on the maker and how “premium” the think they are - and the country of origin impacts things greatly too. Dsptch is an American company that makes most of their stuff in San Francisco
this the regular or small? also what’s the difference between the regular ones and the RND black dyneema version?
I’ve only tried the regular - the dyneema pack is lighter and with dyneema on outside so massive difference in material feel. The RND editions feature different color choices (accents and interior and upgraded materials)

It’s a camo colored bag. I believe that’s why the interior of this bag is black. It goes with the whole camouflage theme. Great review 👌
In your opinion, how does this bag compared to AER travel sling!?
The Aer feels more modern and minimalist - tighter too. The Dsptch is more forgiving with allowing more shapes and sizes of items in your carry. Depends if you want sleekness or utility. Adding complexity here, I might light the Wexley Finley better than both.

I'm looking for a sling that's only for a (12.4") tablet. I don't want the bulk of a sling that's for a laptop. Does this even exist?
Welcome to the channel! So a 13” tablet sleeve is about the same requirement as a 13” laptop sleeve. So if you’re avoiding bulk…I’d look for a laptop sling from a company that is intentionally minimalist. A few to check out: Alpaka, Aer, Wexley.
