I moved away in 1986. This video causes a flood of deep, good memories. I love and miss Columbia.

Thanks for sharing this.We moved into Oakland Mills in 71. We’re still here - in the same house on Farewell Rd.. I’m happy that this film exists. It brings back many fine memories.

Thanks for uploading this. Brings back great memories of living in Columbia in the 1970s (I grew up in Dalton between Thunder Hill and Route 29). Used to go to the Thunder Hill pool shown in the video (I might even be one of the kids in it) and the WaWa right next to it. Beautiful neighborhood to grow up in. Miss those times. Thanks again for making my day!

I moved to 5445 Hildebrand Ct., in Longfellow, Columbia, Maryland in 1974; years later, in 2016 in fact, my wife and I traveled from Sweden to the USA and drove from JFK to Columbia, MD. where we visited my family who was then living at 5222 Eliot's Oak Rd., that too in Longfellow. Columbia sure didn't look at all like it did when I went to Wilde Lake High in the mid-70s when it was an open area school, but this video certainly evoked some memories. I moved away from Columbia in December 1988.

Nothing is as nice as it used to be. People are very different.

What memories. Thank you. I lived at the intersection of 29&108...before they turned it into a cloverleaf overpass. There were three houses on old Annapolis red, right across from the vetanarian dr.lewis. My how times have changed. I'd love to see video of that area if anyone has it. Or pictures. I was like an in betweener, not in Columbia, on the edge, not in Ellicott city so I ended up at Northfield then Oakland Mills. Made for some interesting encounters.

We visit Columbia occasionally. Having moved away almost forty years ago, things are really different. Back then it was out in the country, like farmland. Everything was open, no mature trees. I also have gone to the Howard County website and looked at aerial photos from back then. Interesting.
