谢谢!Great video and I am glad you are fine after this experience😊 In the UK, this treatment would be free, but you might well have to wait about 6 months for it. My son and his family live in China and I am very impressed with the standard of healthcare there. It seems much better than in this country. You have to pay, but not a huge amount of money as in a country such as the US and the quality of care is so good.

Thank you for sharing your story with us! I’m glad to hear that the node was benign and wish you a speedy recovery! As an American, I want to share the things that stood out to me in your story. First, just the fact that you scheduled a regular visit with your doctor on a Saturday was a surprise. In America (at least where I am in a mid-western state), it is not possible to schedule a regular doctor visit on a weekend. Second, you are correct that it is not really possible in the US to get a surgery date so quickly for a non-emergency surgery. I’ve only had 2 such surgeries and the quicker of the two was a 1 month wait (the longer was a 3 month wait). Third, after checking into the hospital, it appears you walked yourself down to have tests done. In the US, once you are checked into a hospital, you are generally escorted by a hospital staff member for all tests. And finally, that bill! I’m sure everyone in the world with Internet access is aware of what a joke medical prices are in the US! I have excellent health insurance, but my out of pocket expenses (meaning after insurance paid their portion) for a 3 day hospital stay and surgery like that would have easily been a few thousand dollars. If your story is typical of the medical experience in China, I must agree with your statement - The Chinese medical system really is quite efficient and, I’ll add, affordable! Thank you again for sharing this with us. This video was very informative and insightful, and you (as always) provided us with a wonderful Chinese lesson as well. 谢谢!

I wish you a complete and quick recovery! It's amazing that even in this situation you made a very interesting video.
I live in Italy and as far as my country is concerned I can confirm that your doctor is correct: waiting times for non-urgent surgeries have got VERY long in the past few years, due to many serious problems like lack of healthcare funding, lack of staff, bad governance, unless you can afford an expensive private clinic, but people here already pay a lot of taxes for public health care. It's bad and it won't get better anytime soon. It's good that in China it's so much more efficient. That insurance is good as well.
My question is: what if you can't afford an insurance? How are those cases dealt with in China?

It was very informative and particularly interesting for learning Chinese Thank you so much.I will not dare mention the prices of Swiss surgery, which at least would be 10 times higher.... so unreal, and without interest ... Once again, I sincerely wish you the best.

Dengdeng Laoxi, may your body be cured completely and fully and you recover well and soon. The hospital system in China seems to be so good, and that insurance is of great help. Here in Brazil we have to pay for an insurance like the one you have, you pay monthly and it covers things like medical appointments, surgeries and he time you stay in hospital and the medication you take there, and there is no need to pay extras. Let's practice some Qi Gong and take some chinese herbs to take care of our bodies! 🙏😉

WOW! DengDeng, I am glad your surgery was sucessful and that you are recovering. This was a very interesting vlog to watch. Although I must use the pinyin more than the characters plus the English translation to understand everything, I do understand a number of the words you said just by listening, and then many more with the use of the pinyin. Rest well, eat well, recover quickly, and have a happy attitude. I look forward to your new videos when you can make them. 医生帮我做手术 = "The doctor performed surgery on me"
Although the dictionary definition of 帮 is "help", it cannot be translated that way here. The English concept of "help" is that one person is doing something, and another person is assisting them. A patient cannot do their own surgery, so "help" cannot be used here.

    医生帮她的同事做手术
I think a sentence like this is ambiguous, because a doctor can help their colleague perform surgery, or can perform surgery on their colleague. To clearly say "help" it's probably best to use 帮助 instead of 帮. For performing surgery on somebody, probably 给 is best to use instead of 帮 for clarity.

  • @DevinDiTigana

You are correct - in the UK it would be very rare to get surgery so fast. In some cases it takes years! But even if not years it's almost always several months. The waiting lists have got worse in the past few years due to the current government being so incompetent. Hopefully it will start to improve when we get a different government!

@@mikek5298 I'm not sure what you mean when you say I eviscerated it - I was trying to say that UK health care is currently not good, and I think that's what I did say! It's not a TOTAL disaster, but that's only because of the hard work of most of the staff in very difficult circumstances. I should've been clearer about the cost though - obviously somebody does pay for it, but it is still free TO THE PATIENT.
