Cynthia Smith; i know that's right, one of my favorite male singers, & to think his brother Edwin said, Walter use to not sing good, he couldn't stay on key, that's hard to believe he has the best tenor you'll find
If you can find a copy I highly recommend listening to Walter's very first 'solo' recording: Do Your Best(1972), which was produced by Tom Fogerty of the legendary band Creedance Clearwater Revival. It wasn't a big seller, but its one of my favorites because musically and lyrically it was a proving ground and test bed for the seminal work he would do with his Love Center Choir and the Hawkins family. Respect and RIP.
I still get "goose bumps" listening to his music and hearing him express himself in interviews when he was younger and even moreso decades later. Around the time of this interview, "Lift Every Voice and Sing" on BET showed an in depth interview with him as he rode around his property giving the host a tour. I would usually tape all shows that include him and the family. I certainly wish I had recorded that one...I was blessed to hear him preach here in DC in the 80's-God gave it all to him.
Goose Bumps !!! lol That a good one when it comes to the Late Bishop Walter Hawkins voice that man could sho nuff saaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaag!!! and he was so humble about it. Rest In Peace Bishop !!!!
@enayb *in Tina Turner voice* What You Saaaaayyy,,,,,,,,, But You know something, I don't think he knew the Impact he had throughout the world or The Legacy he left in the world, he was such a Meek and Humble Soul and he seemed rather shy at times. What a Blessing he has been and will Forever Be
dimples40160 lol yes Bishop Walter Hawkins does appear SHY at times I'm sure it's mostly contributed to his meekness and humbleness. Love love love WALTER x EDWIN HAWKINS ❤❤
