Toxic on stepper motors

- Tried making the motors bi-directional, I'm not sure if it's as visually satisfying but let me know.
When I messed around with this project last year I didn't expect it to blow up 10 months later but here we are. This channel was always just me uploading random games and projects as you can tell from my previous videos. If you have suggestions or ideas for new songs I'd love to hear them but don't expect consistent uploads :) - Hudba
"what music do you listen to?"
"Metal"
"cool, which type of metal?"
"Stepper. Stepper Metal."
"Copper"
Blue, Red, and Green motors: Dancing gently with the music

We all have that one friend.
@@MrVidau I am that one friend.

Tearing apart Daft Punk just wasn’t enough for this guy huh?
I wonder who's next on his list..
Rip daft punk
ha i dont have an alram clock
Cat cameo is best cameo
What do you mean cat cameo
@@FirebaII0A cameo of a feline variety
Ah makes sense
Completely missed it on the first watch haha 😹
I think you meant cameow.

POV: Your alarm clock has become sentient
Thats what it is lol
Nailed it. 😂
My internal alarm clock hates me,I seem to now wake up 2 hours after i sleep, then I sleep again and I sleep fine,I think.
"Cause it knows that you're 'Toxic'"
With the way that steppers naturally sound matching some elements so well I would say that trying out "Reconstructing Science" (Portal 2 ost) would be absolutely phenomenal.
OH HELLL YEAH
I would love that
I love portal
this
Yes please.
That bassline is so satisfying to listen to and watch
I’m surprised somebody understands how cool the bass is
Very neato
Yeah that was thicc af
Xploshi what are ya doin here? Get back to making your cursed animations!
agree
It's cool how you were able to fake more polyphony by doing multiple takes and layering them, it gives a nice effect
Is that what that is? Was wondering why they were transparent
Yup, I needed 8 tracks for this song and don’t have 8 motors. Some of my songs have even more tracks, but I think it’s more appealing if they have fewer
@@NStripleseven I'm watching this on my phone in glorious potato vision. I was beginning to wonder if co-axial steppers were a thing.
@All-Out Alex Samsung SM-G386T. All potato, all the time.
@All-Out Alex it is sort of a joke. Memetically, "potato-vision" refers to particularly low-resolution or generally poor quality video playback. My device is an older one (circa 2014) and depending on signal strength, video playback isn't always great.
This is how GLaDOS would "sing" Still Alive if she didn't have any vocals
Look what you've done.
@@ElusiveEllie No way! Thanks for letting me know!
*mei* did all the work.
maybe it was me growing up in the 80s with a nes, but this makes an average song so awesome. love the tones of these things! its like a really hard saw wave
Its like an overdriven saw a bit
Itching to hear what the og Tetris theme song sounds like on these lol :P
Oooo
Bump
Nerdy as hell. But i am part of those listening to this so who am I to talk.
Me trying to sleep

It seems stepper motor videos have all of a sudden went viral. Glad to see I am not the only one getting the algorithm's blessing!
Cat: "What is this?"
Stepper Motors: "Bites za dust has already touched these stepper motors!"
I think the bi-directional motors improved this one, more of a personality if you will. liked it!
edit: the cat too
I read this comment literally two seconds before the cat appeared lmao
53 people out there aren't old enough to know the joy that 8 bit sound brought us old school gamers for years of our childhood.
The bidirectionality combined with the layering looks really nice
Also the sound during the chorus is 👌
Here’s a real challenge: play a song with silent drivers
tmc2130!!
You can, but then it sits sounding like 8 bit and it starts sounding more like actual speakers.
rap god
I guess you could set TMC2130 in full step mode to make noise and dynamically set coil current via SPI to have volume control. Might be fun to try !
*smack* *smack*
This guy and the floppotron have got to do something together
dude that would be amazing
It's the same thing. These are the types of motors that floppy drives contain (well, they're differently shaped).
And Device Orchestra
YES
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS@@sophiedowney1077
hmm what's with the shadowed dups?
later:
oh! that's a clever way to make an 8 part stepper band.
ok this is one of the best executed mechanical hardware based covers like this or floppotron I've ever seen, legitimately beautiful timbres.
Sort of sounds like Toxic being played on an Accordion and/or bagpipes. I don't have a problem with that, but it makes me wonder what a song meant for accordions or bagpipes would sound like on this?
True I like you
And thats how i met your mother
Kinda sounds like a pipe organ too.
Now I'm just imagining a pipe organ with different sizes of stepper motors
Big stepper motor
Reminds me of an harpsichord, too…
I think the tone of these motors is absolutely perfect for the Merry go round from roller coaster tycoon 1 and 2.
WHAT! This is so amazing. I'm still trying to find out how this works but I can't wait for one of my favorite rappers to find this person. This is the new stuff, for sure
I've just come across your videos and love every single one of them.
To answer the question, I think having the motors bidirectional makes the video that more satisfying!
For the love of all things good please do Still Alive from Portal (the end credits song)
Granted.
this is like advanced redstone but IRL, a bunch of components being used for something that isn't their original purpose, but works anyways. i love it!
BREAKING NEWS: ELECTRONICS ARE LIKE REDSTONE???
Was wondering why there was an overlay of some not moving until I realized you used two recordings of the four motors to get eight voices! Awesome.
the return of the king
I love yellow. he just s p i n
Arigato gyro
Loved the back and forth with the motors! I was just watching the other four to join in anticipation.
I appreciate how hard the yellow one is working.
I just synced this up to the music video and the timing was superb. Subbed.
this is actually more visually pleasing than the normal motors
Toxic is one of my go-to karaoke songs, and this is reminding me of the better days. You know. When we could do karaoke.
Someone came in while I was watching this, and they asked "Why are you watching clocks going crazy?"
"Its... its complicated..."
Because its good
The visuals were interesting! I didn't get it at first, but when the active part started, it was a lot of fun to watch.
This right here is some damn high quality content. Love it 1000%
Dude I hope this channel blows up. I love this!
I wonder what's wrong to the people that have dislike to this masterpiece
You have been picked by the algorithm. Enjoy your well deserved recognition!
the bass is unironically awesome. pretty cool sound
Wow, this is next gen electronic music!! At the beginning I was thinking that it would be better to have all of the 8 channels live but also the superimposing effect is very very nice... compliment!!!
the kind of content I live for. subscribed.
It is creative people like you that make youtube such a great place💖
This is the weirdest thing that I've seen on CZcams this week. I just love it.
This is awesome. You just made a new form of music. I love it
this is really cool, did you write a script to convert midi or some other file format or did you just program the entire song by hand?
Thanks! They're controlled by an Arduino which takes MIDI commands in real time. Each motor corresponds to a channel in the MIDI file.
@@spaceyman398 That's so freaking awesome.
@@spaceyman398 just out of curiosity, which model of arduino are you using? I'm wondering if I could do that with the one I have.
@@realhumanbeing1714 This is an Arduino Uno, but it should work decently with any of the larger ones
The pitch bends and bass come out awesome
This is one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen.
I really love how you reverse the direction when you can now. Much more information available when viewing - we can see which motors are making which sounds more easily :)
The green motor goes seriously hard
its rare to see a great channel like this that's still posting. please keep going!
what
That blue motor was having lots of fun!
this is genuinely amazing
Oh my god if you look at them as if they were ducks it gets really trippy
Cat at 1:48 and that bass line on the green stepper!
holy crap that chorus drop is awesome
I actually really like the bi-directional motion! It makes it more interesting to me.
That is so clever that! Fantastic!
I don’t know why but the yellow stepper motor every time it spins like that it just makes me laugh
Didn't think I'd stay and watch the whole thing, but it was pretty dope.
This is awesome - keep up the good work.
This dude managed to create macroscopic superpositioning and used it to add 4 more musical parts to his composition. Wild
Seriously though very cool workaround, and good video
Better late to the party than never! very awesome, the bidirectional really does add something to it.
Idk how I got here but I’m enjoying this
Alright. This was the best music so far heared on them i give you that sub dude like youre fricking epic.
Your videos are amazing!
Ah yes, a traditional ballad, perfect for mourning the destruction of earth
Glad I didn't come across your videos while working with steppers for my lab. 😂😂 great job!
Я конечно не технарь, но говорю как молодой автомеханик - за такими вещами всегда весело наблюдать
P.s. Cats - cute
tfw you realise the second arm isn't just a photo... Wow, sounds absolutely amazing!!!!
I'm addicted to this
the bass on the green motor hits hard
I love when yellow does the big spin
you just got yourself a new subscriber
that's cool you made the motors bi directional. I imagine it growing in complexity to where the motors are driving some rube goulberg machine-esque apparatus while playing a song
This is my favorite genre of music
I do not know why I'm here but I love it
Red, blue, Green:
*being normal*
Yellow: I A M S P E E D
This sounds like a badass videogame sound track
I believe that it is two videos over exposed
I has to be in order to get the range of notes to play in time with only the 4 motors
"Tried making the motors bi-directional, I'm not sure if it's as visually satisfying but let me know."
@@mrbro-mu1uw That just refers to the direction the motors spin, the editing effect is as if two videos were double exposed.
Omg yes this is what I need in my life
SOMTHING SMELLS DANK IN HERE
Ahh a man of culture
the slide notes are sick
This is Alex's Fav so far
Ohmygod. A blessing from the Lord!!🙌
this was amazing
I’m loving this seriss
That was awesome!
This is exactly what I was hoping it was

Why is this so cool
This is a step in the right direction.
The best thing about this... it's more in key than Brittney could ever be! ;)
Well done 👍and a nice 🐈
the green base line is great
this is actually fire lmao - if i could like twice i would
This is so good
