- Full build of Meng's 1:35 scale FV510 Warrior TES(H) AIFV model kit, as used by the British Army in Operation Telic and Operation Herrick. This version of the Warrior features slat armour to protect against RPGs and similar weapons. The slat armour is provided as plastic, which I personally prefer - I couldn't imagine bending all the required photoetch into shape. You can find the kit here: amzn.to/370Fk7H
Enjoy the video and look forward to painting and weathering in part 2, coming soon.

The Warrior was a fantastic ride, but that's just tankie bias, kit looks great to build, happy modelling mate 😉👍
Thank you Tim, you too
Oh hell yeah I was interested in getting this model
It really is a great kit - one of the most enjoyable I've built in ages.
My Like is just nothing, but it comes from my heart !!! You`re a real great modeler... Thank You Sir !
Thank you Frank, I appreciate that.
LOL, LOL, you're just like me! Love the way you dry-fit the unpainted sub-assemblies! I've got the old Academy Warrior almost finished. The upper and lower hull are not glued, and can be disassembled, after I slip off the front armor. I used a piece of Evergreen styrene strip to add a piece under the front armor which "locks" it into place without gluing!....
Now, thanks to your video, I gotta go get this Meng kit! And watch your Part2 video. Merci beaucoup, mon ami!....
Sounds like a good system. Thanks for watching!
That is one beaut kit.....terrific job on the build.....an awesome looking model. Have to agree with your sentiments re the slat armour. Great as PE is, if the plastic equivalent is good then no need for an alternative. Look forward to seeing the next phase of this build.
Thanks Robbo!
Great build! Love the modern stuff and the detail looks fantastic! I’m glad you enjoyed building it, I can’t wait to see it painted
Thanks T.J. Do you have any other modern armour recommendations?
@@ModelNerd Oh man...I haven't modeled since I was a kid, so I'd be a terrible resource :-) But, I just love the look of modern military equipment, like Bradley's, JLTVs, Hummers, MRAPs! Keep up the good work!!!
Looking forward to the next part! Looks great!
Thank you! I primed the model last night so I'm hoping to get the paint down this weekend.
glad to see you back :)
Thanks Samar :)
Thoroughly entertaining build. Loved the reference photo's. looking forward to colour choice and weathering, ATVB2U .Scott Somerset
Thank you Scott :)
I like that the instruction sheet is coloured it makes me get a little Bandai vibe.
Top notch kit. Great episode!
Thanks James
Really informative build!, I look forward to the painting!.
Thank you Tony
Fun to see. Also, I'm looking forward to your paint work. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you. Hopefully it won't be too long before I paint it
Really enjoyed this vid. Have the kit in my stash and will use your build as reference
Thank you mate - I'm glad you enjoyed it
Staggering how many "greeblies" there are to be put on instead of being molded in. The few that are molded in, like the door handle on the rear door stand out.
Yes, there are a lot to add. It reminded me a bit of the Bandai Star Wars in a way :)
Nice Kit, well thought out design by the looks of it
It really was, Calum. Quite often I found myself thinking ejector pins were just in the right place not to be seen, alignment tabs were just perfect, etc. Really good design.
love modern armour but for some long forgotten reason I avoided this particular vehicle....until now!.....awesome first video and really looking forward to part 2!
Thank you mate. Are there any particular modern armour kits you would recommend? I'm looking to do some more. British in particular, I think.
@@ModelNerd tell you what I haven’t see…the AFV club CVR(T) Scimitar in 1/35 scale…its almost like people are afraid to build them! Love to see you do one of those 😀
Now I what to build it! Nice build!
Thanks Paul. You should - it's a great kit!
Thanks for giving a rather unique and unusual kit some representation! (WE don't see lots of kits with cage armour being built)
Glad you liked it!
The purpose of the cage that when under attack say an RPG the RPG round hits the cage initiating the heat of the explosive core thus by the time it hits the vehicle armour it’s lost the heat & energy too penetrate the armour. Basically cooled the main core of the explosive that penetrates the armour thus cannot penetrate the main armour
@@pipmeister2103 I was thinking that simulating battle damage on that armor would be lots of fun. Cut a hole, bend the cut ends inward and paint "carbon scoring" and maybe some pitting on the plate underneath.
I don't know that any actually received such damage or if there are any reference pictures available, but still.
Nice model kit.
Thanks!
love your channel man!please do more f1 kits!
Thanks mate! I do have more F1 kits lined up in the future, no worries :)
Nice build of this. I think the UN had some interesting versions of this. It looks like a kit that would be difficult without an airbrush! Looking forward to your finished build.n
Thanks :) I'd really like to do a UN version of a vehicle at some point - and it seems like the kind of topic we don't see very often.
@@ModelNerd thete was a great bbc series called warrior with Iaon Gruffad (aka Hornblower) about the UN but I dont think it was released on dvd :(
I've just looked it up and it sounds really interesting - but yeah, a quick search doesn't reveal it anywhere :(
How about one with Berlin Camouflage? That would be awesome
Looks great! It’s definitely a BIG tank!
Thanks Peter. It really is big - though I suppose it does have room for 10 guys inside!
@@ModelNerd when you first showed the hull parts, I wondered what scale it was, because it looked too big for 1/35. Can’t wait to see the paint and weathering!
You might try the Meng modern German tank crew figures, as two out of the four supplied are dressed in desert tankers kit which as far as I can tell is more or less identical to the British kit. Also you get two modern German tankers in Northern Europe kit which would be handy for Meng’s Leopard 2 kit. I have both kits to build, so I get to use all four crew figures, so a pretty good deal all round!
Thanks for the tip, Steve. That sounds like a good deal - I love little bonuses like that!
Great tank I too love the look of this.
Thanks. Yeah, I'm not heavily into modern armour but I do like this.
Looks great! Are there any US Army Strykers with the RPG-catcher armor?
Thanks Will. I suspect there will be as it's quite a common vehicle. Scalemates is a good place to check for kit releases - very comprehensive.
Hello mr. Nerd!very nice build!congratulations!thank u4sharing.With sticky greetings. Your modellmate.christian
Cheers Christian
I'm building takoms bulldog you would like this kit if liked the warrior! The slate armour on the warrior I thought was just to thick you do notice it when it's sitting next to the bulldog and the rfm challenger 2 TES kit on shelf but still a good build! Takom also have a full interior od a slightly different version that you could use the interior out of I'm sure if so wanted to! There same vehicle it would make a mega difference to this kit if it was as good as the Bradley!
Oooh, I do love a good full interior kit..... Thanks for the suggestions Charlie!
13:24 concerning when you put the pins in the jog do you cut them off when the jig is closed?
I did at first but it didn't work well, so I ended up doing it afterwards.
You should do a chieftain in Berlin camo
Ah yes, I saw one of these paint schemes at Bovington recently and it did look good.
Hi matey. I've done a review on some of the Mod British 35th scale figures offerings. Gecko are great and have turned barely nothing for modern.
Thanks mate - I'll check them out.
@@ModelNerd if you can't find any let me know, I'll send you mine. Don't want anything for them. Stay safe mukka
Thanks mate
What is the advantages of having a metal barrel rather than a plastic one
I think the biggest one is no seam marks. Also, small barrels like this can still come hollow / drilled out at the end.
Nice. I used to use the OP variant in the Forces in Bosnia & Iraq
OP ? Im not familiar with this variant. What’s the difference between the OP and the standard model.
@@ninus17 The main cannon isn’t a cannon it’s wood or another material. It contains laser sights for distance & contains mainly comms equipment & targeting equipment inside. It is still equipped with the chain gun & GPMG
Great info - thanks mate
Mission models do a good British modern AFV paint
Thank you Mark, I will check them out.
@@ModelNerd hope you find it helpful
👍👍👍
Thank you Dave
Just a comment for the algorithm.
This Tank is a Monster!! The functioning turret looks amazing. Can you cut the masking on the PE to save the other pcs. until you need them? You have some excellent photographic examples. Can't wait to see the color you choose. Thanks for posting and sharing your passions.
Thank you Michael, I appreciate that. I just peeled the plastic off, let the relevant parts drop out, and then put the plastic back again.
@@ModelNerd Well that sounds easy enough. Thanks for the reply
