Fun fact: Unlike Ogerpon, "Don't catch" is a menu option at the end of this battle. Choosing it however, will make Kieran shake his head and confirm that "it has to be you".
_(Special thanks to my brother, who risked choosing it to satisfy our curiosity, unlike me who accidentally button-mashed through to the Pokeball selection.)_
Also, 4:25 for when *the boi* plucks up his courage to help when we ask
darn i was hoping kieran would get it if you clicked dont catch XD
I remember choosing no since I wanted Kieran to catch it since I already have Ogrepon, shame he chooses not to
I agree, he totally earned a legendary this time. I hate that the writers cucked him twice in this DLCs just because we are the main character and we have to get everything, it's unfair really
@@Hakudan2 I'm torn.
Terapagos getting out of hand was Kieran's wake-up call, and him letting us catch it is a huge turning point for his character arc. (And obviously, we have a Pokedex to fill, and they're never gonna show off a legendary we can't catch, no matter how ridiculous from a story perspective.)
BUT ON THE OTHER HAND, the fact he doesn't get ANYTHING is just... Kinda sad? I would have seriously considered letting him have it if it was an option.
I still have mixed feelings about us accidentally stealing Ogerpon...
@@Hakudan2i agree! throw MC in hell kieran deserves better
Terapagos: The Tera Type is the means by which ALL is revealed.
If that actually was the case... Oh that battle would have sucked
I never thought i would ever see a persona reference under a pokemon video. Now my life is fulfilled, thank you.
my fav part of the dlc is where the player straight up died
The moment man caught the Mon of knowledge, he sealed his fate. Entrusting his future to the Pokeballs, man clings to a dim hope. Yet, the Types are the means by which all is revealed. Beyond the champion's path, lies a Legendary Mon. It matters not who you are, Arceus awaits you.
I'm virtually obsessed with this theme. It sums up everything about Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, since Terapagos is the key to everything. And now, you're here, fighting the Hidden Treasure of Area Zero itself.
*We finally have the true legendary of the Paldea region.*
well if terapagos is the key to everything why wonât he bring the hot robot woman back /joke
â@@edgytoucan3444he actually did lol
you fight to make sure the cave doesn't collapse, the older sister only has one abled pokemon to fight, your lead investigator gets too obsessed in catching this thing, and the younger brother, one of your more difficult rivals, finally gets his head back to his senses and helps end the chaos.
Say what you will about the DLC. This battle cemented Kieran as easily one of the best rivals in the series. Only when he and everyone else was about to be killed did he realize that he should give up on only pursuing victory. He had a genuinely fun and mostly well crafted arc, even if it was only two DLC chapters long.
I hadn't even lost one pokemon by the time he joined in, really lessened the impact of the whole thing. Definitely needed to be balanced better
@@rtnman itâs kind of meant to be like that. The battle odds are meant to be more in your favor when he finally refriends you
lol I purposely use Parabolic Charge with my Miraidon to KO Carmine's and Kieran's Pokémon
Ngl what I hated the most was how they handled it all, and it's been more common since gen 8. The thing where our rivals have big dreams and goals and we crush them to bits and then our rival loses their way. Only with hop not only could he not beat us but some snob pummelled him also.
But when you do crush their dreams it's like everyone else around you celebrates your victory and praises you but it still shows the downfall of our rival and their pity and demise. It's nasty but it makes Kieran connect with us more because he learns that no matter what he isn't gonna win, so instead of fighting us he should fight beside us
@@Nebby_smellsI like that kind of storytelling tbh. Honestly, one of the things I dislike about some PokĂ©mon stories is when they make out the world and characters to feel like sunshine and rainbows and never have people feel any emotion beyond being either happy-go-lucky and positive, or comically evil if theyâre from the evil team.
Gen 6 was guilty of this for the most part. I get what they were going for, having you travel the region with a chill group of friends rather than a single rival, but Gens 5 and 9 pulled the friend group dynamic *much* better by having everyone involved be fleshed-out characters with their own thoughts, feelings, and struggles, than being really basic and one-note like Shauna, Tierno, and Trevor were.
It was also hard to really buy into Lysandreâs motivations because even though theyâre genuinely interesting and come from an understandable point of view, it all feels shallow and out of nowhere.
His goal comes from wanting to cleanse the world and make it a more beautiful place, because as a successful scientist and philanthropist, he grew jaded and exhausted constantly seeing how selfish and ugly humanity could be-squabbling over limited resources, refusing to care about major issues let alone each other, being wasteful and selfishly abusing the land and other people and Pokémon, etc.
But we never get to *see* any of that across Kalos in any capacity, so we never get any chance to empathize with Lysandreâs point of view even though the game wants us to after we beat him, and to enact his goals in ways that are much less violent and extreme. He just comes off as a crazy guy rambling about nothing since Kalos looks fine. Everyone gets along, the region looks beautiful, barely a single trace of what heâs so hung up about outside of a war that happened literally 3000 years ago, that heâs using to his *advantage* here.
The only example Lysandre can even bring up to try to convince the main characters of his point is some petty squabble he was spying on, where you and your main rival (Calem/Serena) battle over who gets to have a Mega Ring, since there was only one and neither of you can share it. It feels like a stretch to compare something that small to his lofty goals trying to stop people fighting over diminishing resources and the world growing uglier from corruption and greed.
So having character arcs like Hopâs and Kieranâs, having PokĂ©mon rivals be self-aware and wonder *why* they never get to win, not even once, and delve into themes of insecurity, anxiety, self-doubt, feels refreshing to me.
Not everyone gets to succeed in life, no matter how hard they work. Sometimes people are just more talented and skilled than you, and that can be frustrating. I never acted out on these feelings, but inside, when I was kid, I felt just as inadequate and alone as Kieran when I was his age, so I got where he was coming from-minus the bullying, obviously, but that only served to flesh him out even more and help drive the conflict along.
Sorry for the long comment, but thatâs just my two cents.
Hopâs character arc didnât resonate as much with me because a lot of SwShâs dialogue boiled down to the same catchphrases used over and over, or having him show up way too much without doing too much of substance with him outside of a few scenes that really highlight his emotional turmoil.
Kieran on the other hand imo had the right amount of screentime paced just enough for us to really get a grasp on what heâs all about and make it feel much more satisfying when he finally gets over his baggage to help us, and later apologize and ask to be friends again.
There is no doubt that Next to Ultra Necrozma's theme, THIS IS THE BEST POKEMON FINAL BOSS BATTLE THEME EVER FUCKING MADE!!!
You can thank Toby fox for that
@@Walnut64God, he didnât make every single theme in the game
â@@Pineapple140he isn't saying he did he's saying Toby helped with this terapogos theme
@@Walnut64 Toby made literally 4 songs bro
@@Muscle_Man554 do we have any confirmation for that? I reckon that the only songs we know the composers of are the ones from the base game
Carmine: "Kiki, Juliana's in trouble! You need to HELP HER!"
Kieran: "B-but... I can't... I can't help anyone..."
Me, freaking out because Terapagos is somehow slaughtering my *Level 100* Pokémon: "KIERAN I BELIEVE IN YOU ALSO GET YOUR FUCKING ASS OUT HERE I'M DYING HELP"
4:24 is the part where we snap Kieran out and he cries, and we see the light on his eyes return. Then he battles with us, definitely my most favorite part! But the whole battle theme is a FCKING ABSOLUTE BANGER! It is by far my favorite Pokemon Game! â€
Seeing the light return to Kieran's eyes fills you with DETERMINATION
i really wish Nintendo, TPC and Gamefreak would just let Toby work at a high position so he can make his own vision of Pokemon, would probably get the franchise out of the gutter people have considered it in since late gen 7.
stop
@@IhazkirbroThatâs kind of unfair to the writers of Gens 7 and 9; those are some of my favorite stories in the franchise, and I think they were written really well. Especially Gen 9; the story and characters in Paldea really had a lot of depth and heart put into them.
Itâs the graphics and performance issues that are the problem with Gen 9. I canât even complain too much about the gameplay when the DLC already did a great job giving difficult battles with cool strategies used against you.
I like Toby, but I think people idolize him too much. Pokémon games have a multitude of issues but Toby is at his best when it comes to music and character writing; and Pokémon captured that energy really well in Gen 9.
They just need a better team with more time and resources to finally make a properly fleshed-out 3D game.
@@komarunaegi7460 actually, i agree with you on the story and character part. gen 7 and 9 were great IMO too. but i was referring to the fact that, sadly, not many agree with us on the gen 7 part, and gen 9 factually and literally has technical problems. Thats what i meant by "gutter". as for Toby, you make a valid point, gamefreak could probably learn from him, but they dont need to hand off an entire game to him. they pretty much nailed it with story and music in gen 9.
â@@frozezone2947 You have to expect an undertale joke when Toby Fox was involved in some of the soundtrack for the game
Anything with the excelent SV leitmotiv is just perfection. I specially love the part when Kieran finally helps you defeating Terapagos, is just a great moment and the music enhance it SO MUCH, is perfect.
When the roof was collapsing and Carmine was yelling at Kieran (and my own team getting decimated by those Tera Blasts) all I could think my MC would say is âKieran snap it, weâre getting un-lived here!â Area Zero really builds a lot of tension, MC almost getting offed in there twice.
As Laventon said: âPokemon are terrifying creaturesâ
Like, can you imagine what wouldâve happened if the party was defeated and Terapagosâs energy leaked out? Dude was a living time machine right there.
And that's not to mention that the Terapagos in this fight is a baby imagine if it was an adult one.
â@@elin111... what if the entire Paldea region is actually an adult Terapago's remains?
Never a pokémon music has been so good. The entire ost of the game is a blessing for the ears, and this music is perfect for the final fight of all this adventure.
If the game hadn't have all of these problems, it could have been one of the best game of the decade. I can't wait to see what will look the remake when it'll be announced in 20 years. I didn't buy the DLC, and I probably won't, but I loved this game so much despite all of his default. Thank you to all the ones who have read me, I wish to you all a good day.
By the way, I don't speak english, so sorry if I made speaking mistakes.

4:25 was my favorite moment in the music. It sends me chills every time i hear this and see keiren just snap out of his obsession and help out
2:55 - 3:07 The countermelody sounds like something you'd hear from Bravely Default & Second, as well as Sea of Stars.
Bravely Default was the first thing that popped into my mind when I heard that!
Terapagos was hard... but I found a cathartic feeling in the one Pokémon I used that helped me survive this battle.
Meowscarada.
The very Sprigatito I started my whole adventure with was helping me fight the odds here when my Lucario was knocked out by that overpowered Tera Starstorm.
One of my favorite tracks in the whole game and one of my favorite battles in the whole game. Having parts of the story take place *IN* battles is so fucking nice and I hope that Game Freak gets the time they deserve for a game that actually runs well and looks better just to see what they can do without those rushed expectations.
Thank you so much for posting this! I've been trying to find the full version of this battle, but all of them are just the first phase!!
OMG this battle theme incredible!
I must of hung around 5:02 for like 30 seconds. Thoughts like "I was gonna use a Master Ball... but considering what Kieren did, it's just not right to use it." to "Is it even right for me to capture this Pokemon?" to "Ok, but if Im going to capture him... it's going to be with a friend ball"
It's been a long, LONG time since a Pokemon game made me feel these emotions with a music track like this, so I blame Toby Fox for all of this.
You Blame him in a good way tbh, the guy just can't stop making God tier emotional bangers
Wtf I used a friend ball too after waiting for 30 seconds
You used a Friend Ball? I used a Premier Ball because the entire battle was a special occasion.
00:00 - 5:30 masterclass
A fitting epic theme for a pokemon that's wielding EVERYY TYPE IMAGINABLE!
Yeah but Arceus theme is good too. For he also posseses every type imaginable lol
It felt far too right to not only use your starter during the fight, but have them deal the final blow with their signature move
Or with Ogerpon
Or your ride Miraidon/Koraidon
I used both ogerpon and koraidon, but had koraidon deliver the final blow
koraidons been with us from the start and defeated the Paradise Protection Protocol, it deserves to fight the final battle
Keiran did the final blow with his Dragonite in my battle and it was so cool â€
My party was almost wiped out only for my starter to save the day dealing the final blow, it was the perfect way to bookend the game.
I love how phase 1 starts with SNES Rainbow Road in synth form...
Because Terapagos is a living prism (yes IK about Necrozma) and light/stellar energy through prisms makes rainbows.
When the time came to catch it, I knew it was gonna be one ball and one ball only: a dream ball. What could be as powerful, as wonderful, and as terrifying as a dream made real?
This is so cool I can't wait to get to this part of the game
nooooooo don't spoil yourself /hj
Aw look its a little baby turtle and HOLY SH-
I wish we learned more about Terapagos throughout the indigo disk, maybe they could have talked about it in the bb academy but no. I wanted more build up.
clearly Toby Fox, though I hear Ichinose bass so I think Ichinose arranged this like he did Area Zero Wild Battle
I don't think he made this
Why do you ppl always forget the other 5+ dudes that also work on these tracks?
@@jesusmen6308 I mean I don't, I'm very familiar with Sato, Kageyama etc.
this just happens to be something from Toby Fox, it has similar melodies to his battle music
@@seymourflux747 thatâs fair, but it would be better if at least the others did get mentioned on the first comment because otherwise it gives the impression of only recognizing just Toby Fox,even when he had others helping in putting together the whole track.
@@jesusmen6308you can thank Mr Toby fox for inventing music
Since it looks like raids are going to be a permanant fixture in the series, they totally need to have the next endgame boss summon minions during the fight.
Leitmotifs I Found:
0:12 Terapagos cutscene
0:48 Tera Raid B
1:23 Vs Kieran And Terapagos
4:24 Tera Raid C
4:48 Terapagos cutscene
Finally!!! I was wondering why you didn't upload the music when the dlc released.đ
To be frank, I forgot the release date was yesterday đ
â@@NintendoMelodyHDLol! All good. Thanks for what you do.
i lingered on the ending part of this battle for MINUTES debating whether to press "catch" or "don't catch". i really wanted to see if pressing "don't catch" would make kieran catch it again, make it an encounter at a later time or force you to catch it regardless (which it does).
i ended up using a master ball for it even though it's guaranteed, given what kieran did it only felt right to for some odd reason. the conflict i felt and even slight sadness as kieran told me "it HAS to be you" is part of the reason SV has topped my list to be the best pokemon games ever made.
1:23 - 2:17 Masterclass.
I gotta do this.
[ * Terapagos blocks the way ]
[ * Itâs the end. ]
[ * Carmine worriedly yells at Kieran ]
[ * Kieran looks down in shame ]
[ * Your Pokémon looks weakened. ]
[ * Kieran stands by your side ]
[ * Itâs not over. ]
(The song gave me major Hopes and Dreams feels and Iâve seen people make references to stuff like Earthbound, Deltarune, and Kirby (somehow). So I wanted to try and make a reference myself)
Thats because like most of Area Zero related songs, it was made by Toby Fox itself
[*Smells like crystal turtles]
@@pokenart2267 less directly made, but he helped compose them
After losing like 6 times, when I finally defeated Terapagos, I still had 2 Pokémon and just needed to attack him one more time to win, but Kieran's Dragonite used Extreme Speed so he was the one who defeated Terapagos. That bastard finally did something and saved the day.
Not gonna lie, I defeated Terapagos on my last attempt because Carmine and Kieran finally used the movements that helped me the most.
This is a banger
The Ultra Necrozma son
awesome
Kind of sad Terapagos didn't have a personality/full story like Ogrepon, the game doesn't even show the pokedex screen when you capture him :(
Well, itâs literally just treasure. Who knows how long itâs been stuck inside that crystal.
yea i was dissapointed about that too
that's what the anime and manga are for. Terapagos joined mc party early in contrast to the game's endgame
This and all the general recurring motifs & sounds in all of the Area Zero related themes are SO captivating and eerie, I just love it.
I know this is only including the Stellar form Terapagos battle but will you be uploading the OST that plays when you battle it while its still Kieran's pokemon?
The ending sequence reminds me of Trauma Centre series.
I wish that intro would continue and be it's own thing in that style

Out of curiosity, someone knows if the choir/voices in the theme are actually saying something?
it's gibberish
Not to dash any hopes. But it, at the very least, is another language. However, it wouldn't shock me if it's Japanese something to the effect of village Bridge back in unova
I can't pinpoint what language, but its likely Latin. Choirs like this are commonly heard in musics like this.
It's from Strezov Rhodope 2: Ethnic Bulgarian Choir. They're singing gibberish though :)
4:25 is so freaking good!!

This literally sounds like tera raid theme and area zero theme
Ok Reimu Hakurei we see you
There's genuenly so much Touhou its not even funny
I hear some Bad Apple in there
Teraaa pagos ey please calm down is what I hear from the beginning
The name of the Stellar type was in our faces the whole time: Crystal > Japan romanizes L and R the same, Crystar > remove first half, Star, > word for "of stars" is the type
Bonus: Stellar > an inspired name, Stella > again romanization, Sterra > Remove extra letters, Tera
Therefore, Terastalization is short for not just Chrystalization or even Tera(stellar/star)ization, but CrystalStarization. It's both Crystals and stellar.
The preceding is almost a theory, but the following is only a hypothesis for certain... as of this moment. "Crystal" has evident connections to Gen 2, with it being the name of a game, and said game's mascot getting a Paradox counterpart revealed before the other members of their trio. However, "stellar" has an arguable connection to Gen 5 as well. While not having Paradox versions (yet!), the games and their sequels' mascots split from a single fused Pokémon... which supposedly came to the planet via a meteor, an object "of the stars" if you may.

found the part of the dlc where ai professor sada and briar started kissing each other for 30 minutes straight kinda weird but get it i guess
This sounds like a song fir when Jesus finally returns.

For some reason I can hear a bit of bad apple at 0:24
I was really hoping for eturnatus style fight and was disappointed that the professor in the base game was just a normal battle but I was super happy we got one here and I really hope we more in the future. It's just so exciting to team up with your friends and take down a force of nature like this.
they made the best choice when they chose Toby Fox
[đ]Since we are ignoring the dlc, the terastal phenomenon in "Haltmann" is still caused by the great lord harnessing the power of the crystal heart in orbs so everyone can turn into crystals at their own will
