As far as i know Guitar hero asked Buckethead to use one of his songs in GH2, and my man said Hold up, and went straight up to make Jordan specifically for that purpose
Almost, he made the solo part specifically for GH2. Still very cool!
Cool story actually! Yea the main kill switch riffs were something he played during his live sets as a transition into his song Post Office Buddy. He never made the solo until he was asked to make a song for guitar hero then he specifically made the solo for GH.
The whole solo was made in one, amazing, ultimate take. They kept it and transcribed it for GH. Still my favorite song by him.

Also the story on the chart was I wanted to learn the song for myself and I wanted to do the song justice by putting it in rocksmith for me to learn.
So after months of trial and error and like 4 versions i came to this chart. I also had to tab out the song myself since there was no accurate tab online. I couldn’t have done it either without all the help from the creator community in the custom forge discord either so shoutout to them.
Working on another chart by bucket now called GROVES. Hope you can try it too when it’s released.

Just gotta copy over a tab on the editor, its not terribly hard, the tough part comes if youre doing it all by scratch not from a pre made tab

As someone who does his own charts and tries to get tone effects on point, I have to say that this was an extremely bold attempt at a difficult effect. I'll say, whoever charted this certainly pulled it off. The limit is on Rocksmith itself, there's an audible silence during a tone switch (because they're not really designed to be switched mid-note (just look at the intro to "Again" by Flyleaf or "Killing In The Name" by Rage [For] The Machine)).
One of my proudest tone accomplishments involved using a tremolo effect mixed with a dotted eighth delay. And even then I couldn't get it right. It got to a point where changing the tremolo speed by 1 either made it too fast or too slow. I needed to go into decimals but the software limited that particular setting to integers.
Anyway, now I've finished sperging out. You probably said it best with "For Rocksmith tones, I think that's pretty good"
Chart creator here. Yeaaa I tried getting it as close to the notes as possible. Something else I noticed is that chains tones will a little delayed with the song which may have been from the stream. But like you said there’s a limitation with how fast the tones can be changed while playing.
When I play the chart myslef it seems to get close but during the “chours” part i can never seem to get it right. I may go back on EOF and make a tone switch that’s a dead mute which may work but i’m not sure.
Memories of playing this song in Guitar Hero 2, also I will admit that the tremolo is a cool substitute for the killswitch
You should try welcome to bucketheland or Soothsayer next. The dude have a really wide variety of albums that its kinda hard to listen them all and found a gem between that isnt Jordan.
It's not hard to listen to them all, it's easy. Just takes a very long time and then you just start again right at the beginning ;-)
I cant sightread close to that, very respectable. Somebody transcribed Shawn Lane tracks, may have to dono request "Get You Back."

Not surprisingly, but looks like the IRL version of Buckethead is much harder than the Guitar Hero version, haha.
I do like though that the hardest part is still the part at 2:09. Nice effort, Chainy! I've downloaded this one but am too scared to touch it, lol.

You could probably play that hybrid picking part, just not the way it's charted because it's wrong, just plain impossible to keep picking the D string while chicken picking, instead what Buckethead does is barre the 3 first strings, do a "hammer on from nothing" to the the D string then pick it, rinse and repeat.
