The energy here is amazing. You know it if you've ever attended a small hardcore show.
@@pimtool9351 Definitely not. Tap into your local hardcore scene and experience what the unity is all about
@@aannddrreewwcosta when i went to see jeromes dream the whole place smelled like cigarettes and when we walked out everyone was smoking them
this is the greatest footage of any band ever.
Dillinger playing Destro's Secret & 43% Burnt at whatever that venue was is hard competition
@@chuckyLarmed which show? Can you link me? Would love to see vintage dillinger.
The people-explosion from when they played Conduit during this set is still one of the bestest videos ever. This show seems like a really special place in time.
this video captures everything that’s missing from modern hardcore shows nowadays
@@riccardoiencinellanot true at all lol, idk why everyone acts as if music and subcultures are dead. there is a scene everyone, you probably just don't know. i used to think the same until recently, now i realize the emo and hardcore scene is absolutely thriving in my local area and i'm even forming a band
converge is the best band, this is the best song, great crowd, you really appreciate the drummer in this recording
damn what a nice scene. decently-sized space, guys hanging out high af and/or moshing, guitarist up and says fuck it and does vocals, vocalist dribbles spit
not once in my life have I ever seen a video as hardcore as this
This was a pretty typical show back in the late 90s. Shit was fucking wild.
@@terminaldeity it’s like, you can tell they’re popular in the underground because of how many people are there, but they’re not a mainstream band so they’re not playing on a stage but rather in a basement of some kind. It’s a perfect combination of popularity and obscurity.
You kinda get that at shows nowadays. They’re still really fun but not quite the same. Then again I wouldn’t know, I wasn’t alive in the 90s lol.
@@mavisevelyn618 Only the biggest cities have a big enough scene to support this kind of show now. Now it's like either $40 tickets for a 1k person venue or it's a venue like this/house show but there's only like 30 people there who aren't affiliated with one of the bands.
Before Kurt Ballou looked like my dad.
Damn. That kid in the white shirt is high af.
Yeah, and a total dick. Starts elbowing people and shit because he's TRYING HIS SHOES AT A METAL SHOW and didn't wanna get pushed. The bassist eventually has to literally shove him to the back of the pit cause he's being such an asshole. 3:20 3:50
@@classclown6ya lol, jake also tried to get his ass up and the kid gets up and flicks them off. That was hilarious, fucking kid is wild'n
He's at their show from 97' in kingston Pennsylvania too lol check it out. front row. Maybe he knows them or something
czcams.com/video/ohAWrCtlay0/video.html
If converge and lightning bolt did a small room floor show for their biggest fans it would be the greatest moment in history of hard music.
But that's already happened. You're watching a video of that happening.
That kid with the charles bronson youth attack shirt gets mad respect from me
The kid drumming at like 1:55 is my hero.
That’s 15 year old me. You should choose another hero though. What people should know is that it was roughly 500 degrees in there, and that’s why everybody looks exhausted.
Insanity of a Converge gig at the time. Anything can happen. Pure chaos and great ol'hardcore/punkrock ways
Being a teenager in the late 90s nothing can top it, i was 21 here obsessed with as the sun sets we all went from salem ,ma to prodivence which was atleast once a month this night was amazing
Omg I remember shows like this back in the day. So fun. Kids these days missed this shit.
Kids these days can’t do this shit, cuz their parents will sue. 🤦🏻♂️
@@travisfletcher900 Yeah you're right. It's sad. I was wondering a while back if shows like this exist anymore at all.
@@jakethemistakeRulez They definitely still do happen, its hard to find them though sadly.
This reminds me of a Converge show in Amsterdam at a tiny place (Volta) beginning of the 2000s. It fit like 100-150 people. Sold out. Mayhem.
The show was with Shikari, Rise and Fall, Instil, Greyline, Dead Rivers, and - last minute addition - Bleeding Through! (Cause they started their Euro tour with Sick Of It All and Walls of Jericho the next day at the Melkweg in Amsterdam - squeezed in, for free, at the last moment)
3:20 lmao dude's trying to tie his shoes and everyone's fucking with him and untying them
There are many injustices I can never forgive. This is chief among them.
This is the most hilarious live set I've ever seen lmao
You like this, check out some early Dillinger Escape Plan shows. ‘97-‘04 were their best live years IMO
@@VioletAOP416 back when a Dillinger show was a hazard to your health and well being 😂
@@Kekster3000is that the show they did at someone’s house on top of the slanted roof? That was infamous & insane!
Nothing will ever get better than this.
Converge has always been before their time which makes them timeless. I've been to hundreds of shows and seen thousands of bands. I'll still say to this day, the best show I've ever been to was the first time I saw Converge. Maybe '06? Cleveland, OH
This just shows how amazing converge is as a band. Kurt's guitar stopped working so he just starts moshing with the crowd n screaming with jakob.
I love how Ben just gets up, and walks right ontop of the crowd, like he needed it
Wow, this looks like such a fucking good time! Wish I had the chance to see these guys back in their earlier days.
It was amazing. There used to be shows like this all the time. Idk what happened. Everyone are pussies now I guess.
I miss this so much. What a time to see hardcore shows.
I miss this Converge.
i found this video when i was in the third grade and it shocked me. i had never seen people react to a band like that, i had never seen a band make people act in such a way. it blew my mind. that’s when i realized this was for me. that this was and is me
gotta love a show with full ceiling lighting
The saddest day, will be the day that Converge call it a day...;(
this is the best video I've ever seen on CZcams
Not only can I see the fun while watching this video but I feel it,GS cOnVeRgE 🖤🖤🖤
I have never wanted to be in a hardcore band more than ever after watching this.
Love that Ben and Kurt just hop in the audience.
kinda wish id been born early enough to live this era of live music
I am that girl in the green
Sie Fi no you can see a few other women if you look, but obviously I certainly stood out
Yureka Cash that crowd surfer dude really blindsided you there. Did you feel that the next day?
This footage is at the same level of Waiting room live..No problem
i wish i could go back and time to be there
I worked the door at this show . It was Insane!!! In scrantont pa at sessions skatepark
Wait is this that show?! I was there but I think it was a few years after this.
This video reminded me that part of a ceiling fell on my head at a Converge show in 2003.
So awesome
Damn I mis those days.
you know it's gonna go crazy when you see the raggedy green shirt in the thumbnail
Sick practice space!
I want this footage injected directly into my veins
Hell yeah!
Wow do you happen to have the full set? Have never seen this song from this show. Only Conduit on The Long Road Home DVD.
this is killer gig
まさしくカオス!!
this is the way
Look at KB taking charge at 2:45 after his amp apparantly went fucked xD
Converge are so cool! Love them forever...
by the way, did ATSS also play at this gig? Would be such a badass bill!
This looks more like circa 97-99
Ah, the good old days...
Do floor shows like this even exist anymore?
Rarely. But they do. Look up a video of full of hell playing sometime in 2013. Floor was packed and everyone was moshing or headbanging. Nobody had their phone out and if you did, it would get broken immediately. Shit looks intense. I also saw Revocation at a small ass bar not too long ago and the stage was small as fuck so they might as well have been on the floor. Show was just as crazy as this. People jumping off the stage and shit into people was crazy.
I promote some floor show at this pub near me called The White Lion, but they're never this crazy
If memory serves, Dylan from Full of Hell would perform on the floor while the band was on stage back in their earlier days, but I haven't seen them do that in a long time. I'm seeing them this summer at a venue where the stage is not much higher than the club floor, we'll see what happens.
Daniel Joel i saw lightning bolt play a show exactly like this at mass art in boston circa 2005
the best time to be alive
3:41 Jacob punches the cymbal
Watching this in 2020 makes me extremely sad ...the saddest year ever!
Haha. I had that same Bane tree of life shirt back in the day. I miss these types of shows, VFWs, Library basements, people's houses...
...I feel a little too old and silly to be getting swept in a wave of sweaty arms flailing everywhere. Always wondered why the old dudes hung out in the back. Now I am that old dude.
God Damn.
It's like a zombie apocalypse
Best ever
1:04 that dude in black
Title of the video says it all
love how at 2:59 the bassist nearly clatters jacob with his headstock.

Song name- the saddest day
Omg I need this kinda of put more then I need air
I would imagine this is what the showers in prison sound like
There's always that one brave punk girl.
Another angle? On a classic show? Yes!
Also the fuck that guy diving into her tits, harcore is even worse than it was before.
Good rock 'n' roll show
Boston hardcore at it's finest

Poor Kurt. Did someone unplug his amp?
Who has the rest of this show!!?
they need to send this to space for aliens to find
this was almost every show in the northeastern united states from 1997-2004-ish. you kids missed the fuck out.
kurt ballou is my fuckin hero
2:24 tasty
i'm nearly 40 and i couldn't go to shows like this anymore.... well, yeah i guess i could. fuck it, these were great times.
I'm almost 33 and if I still went to shows like this I'd most likely be standing near a wall leaning against it because I have bad knees. No more stage dives and high fives for this dude. lolz
it's nuts to think that the kids in this video are all in their 30's now - and even 40's. i was 21, though not in this video...i wasn't in this video. still, going to these shows.. converge, dillinger, melvins, botch, cave-in, isis, pig destroyer..... those were only the heavyweights!!! I probably went to 200 shows from 1999 to 2004.... and they were all the best years of my life.
I say still go. I turn 34 in January and next month I'm flying out to Sound & Fury in LA for the second year in a row. I've been going to shows like this since I was 15 and fractured my wrist at a Burn show as recently as a year and a half ago. Attending these shows now just means we've got better health insurance to pay the medical bills!
Joey Clemenza it is nuts. This was such a good time in music to be a part of. I still go to the same shows but only once in a while do I lose my shit and end up front and center getting hurt and blowing my voice out. It keeps you young to get back in there occasionally.
It does hurt more than it did when I was 20 though.
I'd just be too old for this now....but I'd love to watch from a few metres back! 37..mehhhhh
