For vintage battery operated dolls/toys/anything... ALWAYS dip a cotton swap in a little bit of COKE (or any cola) and wipe off the battery contacts, it removes all corrosion instantly, of course clean it off one final time with a clean swab. I often get Hubby to save the last mouthful or so of his coke, for these purposes only. Of course, I mark the bottle appropriately stating it is for battery corrosion and save it for times such as yours.

When I was fixing dolls for a charity, the guys who fixed and checked electronics, suggested to always take a Qtip dipped in rubbing alcohol and carefully wipe the contacts and inside of the battery boxes, it gets the dust and any minute corrosion that comes with older dolls, it often makes the dolls work better and the batteries last longer.
The other thing with dolls with electronics might be loose wires or screws holding the wires need to be tightened (think lightsockets), or if it is a little record that talks the Oring is stretched (think Chatty Cathy).
If you know how to hand sew you can carefully open a seam a bit to fix things and then close the seam, if you don't have a zipties handy and need to work fast. I would try E6000 instead of superglue, it is more heat resistant. Just needs to be held in place for several minutes and then left to cure. Funny baby dolls.
I have some old PC Bitty Babies I am planning on touching up as they lost their lips and some dark painted hair and need some stuffing.
