Great song! Alan Rickman is a very talanted actor. I wish he would have played in more number of big budget productions. But mass audience percieve him only as villain.
It's probably due his deep voice, which is both a blessing & a curse. Blessing, in that the lower tones are very soothing. Curse, because, as you said, it can also sound menacing when used in a certain way.

Hilarity ensues when the controversial potions master suddenly begins acting a little odd. Well...odd-er." Also, I don't think I'll ever be able to get his line from "Love, Actually", "No. No bloody holly", out of my head. It's so awkward, funny, & adorable. If I were in that situation, I'd have growled "Give me that" at that dude in a frustrated tone, grabbed the bag from his hand, & rolled my eyes as I turned & stomped out of the store.
