My neighbor as a kid was on a Kriegsmarine mine sweeper in 1939 and transferred to the U-boot branch in 1940 and survived several patrols and the war. Still had his (officer) hat, medals and pictures

Because it was a great movie and those scenes with the mines were very memorable

Is that a British machine gun on the deck of the first ship, or did the Germans also use those barrel shrouds?

It looks like a Maschinengewehr 08 that was derived from the Maxim Gun just like the British Vickers, so they look similar.

@@hw97karbine Or might be a Schwarzlose 07/12 MG, Austro-Hungarian one. Not sure though.

Given that this is Norway, it might be a Colt MG 38 (Norwegian designation M/29). The cylindrical muzzle device and tripod look pretty similar, but it's hard to tell.

Los alemanes deberian haber traido prisioneros ingleses para desactivar esas minas inglesas. Como hicieron los ingleses con prisioneros alemanes en 1945 para limpiar de minas en Dinamarca por ejemplo.

@pcka12 It's been a while since I've been up there but I'm pretty sure the Caledonian Canal links the north end to the sea. Quite a few locks on the way but I'm quite sure that's how the Germans got in 😂
