- Just a quick demonstration of the Roland Juno-D. I just purchased this synth a few weeks so I'm just getting used to it. I have yet to find any other video on youtube that demonstrates a bunch of the Juno-D's sounds...until now...Any requests, questions, or comments, leave them below!
You simply set up 16 part performances. Very easy to do, you can choose up to 16 patches per performance and make all kinds of setting for each performance. However, only one MFX can be used per performance. Hope this answered your question.., if you're looking for anything such as PLAYBACK features on the Juno-D it doesn't have this feature as there is no sequencer or song player of any type. it's simply a budget performance synth. I highly suggest using the included software editor too.
You know for a (used) 200-300 dollar board, it's a great rompler-with keys. I'm thinking about picking up one just to use at church for elec pianos, organ pads and string.
I mainly now use a Roland XP-30 tied to a laptop with 7500 patches with Sounddiver.
And a
Roland JW-50 (as a master controller) controlling a JV-1080, JD-990 and JV-880
So for a couple hundred bucks, the sounds are really decent and cut through a mix especially playing live. If not, it makes a good master controller.
Synths are clearly never going to replace the real instruments.., but you gotta admit.., even the budget line models have sounds that are quite good. I don't know how old you are.., but feel fortunate to be old enough to remember what we USED to play one back in the day. I remember once upon a time my old DX-7 was the beast to have. I've owned MANY synths in almost 30 years. What we have today is mind blowing IMO. Sure I love analogue.., but these modern synths are darn good IMO.
Thanks for making this, really useful in deciding which synth to get for our band.
I don't own this keyboard anymore, but if I remember correctly you can only split the keyboard into 2 sounds on different parts of the keyboard. Roland is coming out with a Juno-Di in September, its supposed to be improved from the Juno-D.
how are the synth basses on this keyboard?
If you got the money.., Then the Juno-G wins HANDS DOWN! There is NO comparison here in terms of (value for buck). The Juno D is a great synth, but IMO if buying one I'd be certain to get the latest model (Juno-D Le) which is the Limited Edition (new sounds). Anyways, the Juno-G has twice the poly, seq, SRX expansion, sampling, FANTOM X sounds, huge screen, and much more. If you got the money.., get yourself a Juno-G.
the song name is Unforgotten i don´t know the artist, I searched it to because i like the song too!!!
It is in the Halo 2 disc
I think you're missing the whole point and purpse of this synth. It's a PERFORMANCE SYNTH not a VA Synth. The Juno-D (like ALL performance synths) are designed to cover a wide range of music styles and provide the player with a good set of acoustic AND synth patches for a "performance environment". They do make synths designed SOLEY for Analogue style patches. You either buy a modern Analogue (Moog for example) or a digital reproduction of one (many to choose from as well).
Thanks. The Juno-D sounds great. The audio quality got reduced tho when I put this video on youtube.
I have never used the software. As for programming it, you can do it without a PC. Its actually really easy, and you can store upto 100 custom patches.
Great playing, and an excellent exhibition of the Juno's stock sounds.
As someone who has used the Juno6 and 106, If I bought I would be very disappointed. The architecture is more like a typical GM/X device with 16 part Rompler. It has no editable filter envelopes, or filter types, it has cutoff (low pass) and that is it. It has no ring mod, no pulse width, no feg, no peg. Its sounds are samples. The KORG DS-10 for the Nintendo is more powerful! I would rather get an SH-201, but there is nothing in a its digital signal processor that could not be in a VSTi!
The Juno-D/Le models are closed "romplers". That means you cannot add new sound samples. You can however edit the internal patches via the controllers or using the included software editor.., and I STRONGLY suggest using the editor because it makes it much easier. I've found many of the sounds on the Juno-D and the Le version needing some minor adjustments.
The Juno-g has 128 note polyphony, better LCD display, more user friendly, song recorder, expansion board capabilities. I think its $400 more than the Juno-d. Well worth it tho in my opinion if you got the money!
my friend had one of these like 20 yr ago, i never realized how good the piano samples are. i might have to buy one of these on ebay
i'm geting the juno di. really nice demo in this video. youre really good at playing it to
Unbelievable piano sounds, strings are very good, everything else just average for a budget synth. Again the piano patches are outstanding for this level of price. thanks for the demo, will get the juno G or GW-8 instead.
great demo,,this synth get as close to any sound youve heard. and for that you have to buy one,,nice playing
heh, all synth stands tent to rock a bit.. What do you think folks..
Picked one up last night for £150. One slightly quiet key but that might fix with use. If not just a clean. Compared to my JV1010 I reckon the sounds are thinner but hey that's what I want! I want it for live use! Plenty of bang/£ and it helped the people I got it off were proper musos!!!
the juno-d is not a synthesizer, it's a preset machine and you can do a little bit of stuff to to the sound
this is really amazing
Darmstrat is so light-weight but very good.
Let it be= equals
In "Canon in D" the sound is perfect!
Toccata and Fugue - no have better
Europe - i dont liked it. Maybe Good for others songs. Not for The final countdown.
Until, this video will help me when i buy one.
Nice job guy
This is great! I do have a request though and that is that you would demonstrate some of the keyboard organ patches...I'm curious as to what they sound like.
This is amazing, you are really good!
nice video mate! you're good at playing keyboard.
The Juno-D is a great gigging keyboard. Cheap ($200-$500 on Ebay), small, lightweight, w/good "bread & butter" sounds (or in your case "Fish & Chips? (I noticed the "£") If you're playing out at bars/pubs & you don't want to expose a $4,000 keyboard to a bunch of drunks (who won't be able to tell the different between a Juno-D & a Fantom G anyway) then the Juno-D is perfect.
BTW - $ for $, the JV1010 (I have one & the BIG brother XV5080) is hands down, 1 of the best damn sound modules around!!
This is an amazing instrument!
The juno-d is more of a want to be synth. It's more of a keyboard with nice presets that's cheap. If this were the microkorg or v-synth I'd understand why demonstrate piano presets on that. I plan on getting the Juno-Di next month, ill stay away from the piano presets on the next video i make!
Thanks for this demo - it was helpful!
no!
You can buy a new one for this! You geht an Roland Juno Di (new version) for 550 euro. I had bought this synth for 250 euro second hand!
Yes, I have a cable going directly from my Juno-d, to my computer which I recorded with windows movie maker. 100% juno sounds!
Impressive. And for bout 279 ex demo at erm.. Andertons. But not for a person looking for sound sculpting.
amazing sound
Excellent demo, I like
NICE :D i like makes want to buy juno now haha
What is Yamaha? The CS-80 (a Vangelis favorite), the DX-7 (best-selling synth of all time)...
I like Roland too, but let's all be cool.
Haha The HALO 3 song sounded right on. As far as I can hear, exact.
Im about to get one of these tomorrow for $300 used. A great first key board, it seems.
Thank you!!!
Awesome man! Five star :D
Can you give me thw chord you play for Final Countdown ? Because my actual chords don't sound well with this sound...
Great sounds!
whats the song called the one after Van Halen - Jump? and this is really cool
How can you play different parts simultanously on the Juno D? The section in the manual which refers to it only tells how to pick parts in a performance, but doesn't tell you how to play them together at the same time.
It has better piano sounds but I like the micro for synth sounds. It's all personal taste.
great vid well done!! keep going!!
There are no onboard speakers on this synth
I would like to know if de JUNO-D comes with some kind of Rhodes and Wurlitzer. Thanks a lot.
no wonder i didn't remember it's piano samples being this good ! nonetheless, both great instruments.
thanks!
Excelente
Great video. Can you play something TOTO? Like Rosanna and Africa? I'm Looking for a keyboard with those sounds. :)
YAY OCTOPUSES GARDEN!! :D
im having trouble with my juno d, suddenly it's not working, when i turn it on, it shows "midi boot waiting" but its nor working. what can i do?
and do you know anything about the Roland SH-201 synth? thats the one im concidering buying :-P great playing btw ;-)
Can you assign chords to more than 1 sounds at the same time? Are the chords saved with the sound preset? And can you split the keyboard into several zones so you can use like 6 sounds at the same time at different parts of the keyboard?Thank you!! :)
They're $500-600 new. I got mine off ebay for $350 with shipping.
I've connected a midi usb keyboard to a Juno D because there are several
dead keys on the Juno. Everything works fine..plays performances, patches,
knobs affect the output sound...but when I select the [chord memory] or [arpeggio/phrase] button the sound is unaffected.
This was the main incentive for the setup as I really like playing around
with the [chord memory] or [arpeggio/phrase] buttons. However they still
work when I play the faulty Juno keyboard.
What settings do I need to make if any?
Thanks Dave
you can use virtually any keyboard as a midi controller =)
i was thinking of getting this keyboard you as a player would you recommend it to me or no? Or do you have other keyboards that are also as good. Because i was just thinking of starting to play keyboard and to get the roland juno D.
RS50 SAME SYNTH but more beautiful color, aluminum, i like both
would this be a good synth for one who wants to play on his spare time, and also connect it to the computer and play inn songs on FL studio?
excuse me, I have a question about this piano!!
does it has D50, DX7, and some korg sounds??? like choirs, EP´s, hammonds, pizzicatto, fantasy or stacatto heaven,
so ..i have to play with those sounds..or a midi cable and direct to the pc .. ok u.u
i didnt know that..cuz i want my juno to sound like that lead that janne warman use to use ..like in warmen..so theres any way to make it sound like that? im a noob on this shit yet :(
Is it just normal if some keys don't sound as high as the rest??
Yeah I used the sustain pedal.
hi, one question. Can you use the GM2 sounds of your Juno D? I mean, use them as a patch sound... thanks.
Do you think you could do Canon in D, but with the arpeggiator?
how can i change the touch so when I press each key the volume is equal.
From the manual:
"Editing the patch parameters
1. Press [PATCH] so it is lit and you are in Patch mode.
2. Select a patch.
3. Press [PARAM] so it is lit.
Now you can edit the patch parameters.
Use PAGE/CURSOR [] to select the parameter that you want to edit."
'Velo Sens Depth' controls the dynamic range of the key velocity response.
xnonsuchx Thank you
yeah, this is definitely better than the Yamaha mm6
i got the price down to 300 euro...
keyboard stand included
should i do it now?
i love piano man
is this a 61 key, and i was also wondering if this had brass instruments along with strings? nice playing by the way
Could you tell if there are many diferences between Juno D and Di?
can anyone demonstrate the use of d- beam on juno d?
Hi, great video.
Do you know a Van Halen "Jump" patch sound for the Juno D?
Haha! Please post a tutorial for the Halo 3 song. That's amazing.
Is it good for acoustic instruments (specially strings?)
Where's the Halo 3 song from?
hello everyone, could somebody tell me whats the difference between juno D and juno Di? Does it really worth it to buy Di? Im planning to get a new keyboard but I need an advice please!!
gotta question!. i've bought a roland juno d limited edition like 2 days ago. but i'm not so happy about the sounds. how can i edit or put some other patches?. it's my first sinth so i dont know a shit xD ..thankks
Mind blowing yes. But no magic like there used to be. I haven't had 30 years of blissfull Analog & modular synths. A mere 5 years, which is prob why I'm so frustrated! But I have done my home work, the DX-7 (DPAS) has some great funky sounds as well as some of the best EP, not to mention some amazing odd sounds. Shame you still aint got it. It's a shame how much digital has slowed down the synth release schedule. Why buy a synth when you can go digital for half the money. What a disgrace!
How can i go to the PF01 - 09 ?... Manual
thts a cool synthesizer can u make like people sing with this lol
4:43 Whats the name of Artis and song ? Halo 3 ?
How much money is this?
and would this be good for electronic music like Techno
i can buy this keyboard second-hand for 500 euro. should I do it ?
What is difference between rs 50 and juno d
How many organs does it have?Nice vid!!
and beside..the sounds are like too short..pianos are not too cool like people who got it says they are..i need any pedal ?
Hi that keyboard has the sound Tine Wave
no onboard speakers right?
how much did you pay for your juno (if you dont mind)
you might not have the space? :S
Ah, the repainted Roland Classic "The RS-50". Such a fantastic little synth no matter the name or color. Nice demo, but I think your "Final Countdown" patch needs to be transposed up an octave, sounds too low.
how many voices does it have?
The game Halo 3...at the menu screen!
Touch sensitive keys, yes.
lol the best part of the video isnt the synth itself. its all these songs he can play. i love hide and seek. and the halo theme lol
recreate the melody in your mind when you are walking or wistle it, may help
Evolved my arse. How comes synths that are 12-30 years older sound better? From the Yamaha CS-80 to the original Synthe 100 (Delaware), or even a Prophet, they sound a thousand times better. Yes, they were all proper analog, Modular almost. But you could Sculpt/Pioneer sounds. Instead of Edit the insipid sounds they come with. Anyone would think that synths are made for stage now.
God Bless Moog. At least they know how it's done. Piano sounds indeed. Just buy a piano!
Try to play something faster, like Stratovarius, to see all the power of the Juno, Great Video...
