Good job hiding the nuts Jay. 👍💗 Hopefully the chipmunks won't find them.
If chipmunks are like squirrels, they hunt by smell, so it doesn't much matter where they are hidden. The jays just need to return quickly, before they are discovered.
Here in the UK, I've seen jays bury nuts in the grass verge, inches away from a busy main road. They know that squirrels have zero road sense, so keep clear of moving traffic.
I've seen crows dodging between fast-moving cars in ways I wouldn't risk as a human! They seem to enjoy it.

They do a good job of hiding food, and they also are excellent at remembering where the food is! Blue Jays often get a bad rap for being "bullies" but I don't see that. I see personable, jaunty, intelligent birds doing their best to survive. I like the ones that come to my yard a lot and give them whole peanuts, which they love. I'm sure they've planted some all over my neighborhood! I welcome them as I do all birds. You're doing great with them.

전에는 어찌나 마음이 급했던지 한입만 물고 냉큼 도망가더니.. 이젠 밀웜도 다 먹고 땅콩도 세입이나 물고..
그만큼 츄츄님께 마음을 연거겠죠?숨겨둔 땅콩은 잘 찾아 먹을 수 있을까요? 이제 람쥐들이 본격적으로 깨어날 시기인듯 한데.. 거긴 람쥐 앞마당아닌가요.. ㅋㅋ

Our jays and squirrels are constantly hiding/stealing peanuts from each other. I once found a peanut balanced on a folded aluminum chair that was leaned against the wall. I’m guessing the jay put it there, but the next day it was gone! ❤😂

Do they ever come back for them or even remember where they put them - squirrels in our garden just bury food and forget all about it
Mine hide peanuts but we have squirrels here and they will find the peanuts and eat them. So yeah, if you got squirrels around they will find any food being stashed on the ground and eat them right away.

I'd say she did a really good job. I find it interesting how much color Jay has in her plumage than Joe, with birds it's usually the other way around. Guess the little chippers are back to sleep. Thanks for sharing🐦🐦👍💕

Joe wastes no time downing those meal worms. Was he taking tips from Chucky? The big question with Jay's hidden peanuts is: can she find them again when she needs them? Too bad they don't germinate and grow new peanut plants! My goodness but their blue coloring is beautiful and bright!
