    Installing these bars on my 2011 R1200 RT required using a motorcycle lift and taking the fairing off the right side because the telelever arm kept getting in the way and either blocking the hole through the engine block when no weight was on the front, or closing off the hole for the securing rod when the weight was on the front. I had to alternatively raise and lower the bike using the lift to take pressure off or put it on the front wheel in order to work the connecting rod through the bike.

    Hi I have the same model year bike,,, My bike came with Wunderlich bars ,,but I would not fit bars NOW on my bike being so old and low value and has survived so long without them... But we all have different views and its your money,,whatever ride safe and lets hope you never need to use them

    At speed everything will be torn apart. Crash bars are only there to minimise some damages. The energy released is huge during an accident. Kevin Bone is right, every company is using mountings bolts on the engine case (made of aluminium at the bottom).

    queda muy bien, si me permites una observación, te falta el tornillo de seguridad del eje de la botella derecha.

    How did you get the engine through bolt in and out without compressing the front suspension?

    • @vajdo
      @vajdo  Před rokem +1

      Easy. Put the bolt through the hole and the same time removing original bolt from hole. One side in, the other site pull old bolt out. Suport engine with lift jack.

      @@vajdo So you did not need to hammer the bolt? I'll have to give it another try with supporting the engine, I cannot even pull the old bolt out and I don't want to continue hammering the old bolt.

      @@etiennelau3254 sorry. Yes, i need the hammer. I can't pull the bolt out to. So i use the hammmer to remove original bolt and the same time put the new bolt.

    Your video is good but beware!!!!! I had these crash bars on my 2006 r1200rt and i dropped the bike. The problem is that the bolts that go into the bottom of the engine were torn out and broke a hole about the size of a quarter in the crankcase and all the oil drained out....... Well this rendered the bike a total loss unless I wanted to replace the engine. Sooooo..take these off immediately.

      From what I have seen almost all of the crash bar companies use mounting bolts on the engine cases! After all the engine is a stressed part of the frame.
      Was this a crash at speed that broke the bolt out of the case?
