The refs were incompetent.
You should not be a ref if your officiating is clouded by your emotions.
And people came to watch a soccer game. Not a goalie excessively holding the ball.

New york looked pretty poor despite the scoreline. Rode their luck tonight, and wasted time at every oppurtunity. Referee did not have a handle on this match.

TFC #14 needs to wake up...first he gets the ball stripped from him and then he lets the forward go in unchecked leading to the 3rd goal
Owosu missed too many chances, could have easily had 2 or 3 but ends with 0
love those 'hand balls' (shoot it off the guys arm)...I remember when those weren't called if it was inadvertent like that. You actually had to move your arm/hand to be a hand ball.
No, why the yellow card? Makes no sense. No reason to be heavy handed at the end of the match. And, he ended the match early...even the commentators mention this.
Then, I suppose all chaos ensues?
