- The plaintiff says the defendant, her uncle by marriage, has always been like a father to her. However, family members suspect they’re in a sexual relationship and the defendant is the father of the plaintiff’s children. The plaintiff insists that is not true, so she petitioned the court for a paternity test to prove it. The defendant knows the plaintiff needs to end the rumors.
JM's monologue is true in some cases, but I think he overlooked what the plaintiff mentioned about the family's history of possible incest and familial sexual abuse. Some of her family members may be reacting out of unresolved trauma issues, and not hating.
Also, I appreciate this episode for demonstrating that there are strong, caring, and loving Black men in our communities who have a MAJOR role in our families and live up to their own responsibilities as husbands and fathers and take on major father-figure roles in their extended families and communities. Proof that all Black men are not deadbeat or absentee fathers and do not hate Black women as the media would like us to accept and believe.

True but Lie Detector tests aren’t always accurate. In many states, they aren’t even admissible in court. A DNA test will prove his is or isn’t without question. 100 percent accuracy.

I believe that life's curve balls end up working out just the way they should at times. My mom was also raised by her biological aunt and uncle by marriage, and it was the best thing that could have happened to her. They prioritized education and raised her with a lot of nurturing and structure. She grew up to become a lawyer by age 24 and is now a judge who sits on our state's appellate court, which is the second highest court in the state. If she'd been raised by her bio parents, she likely would have been a functional, self-sufficient adult, but probably wouldn't be quite where she is today.
This is beautiful. I tryly appreciate your gratitude towards your aunt and uncle. My uncle and aunt didn't raise me however I am eternally grateful for an aunt and uncle of mine as well. They would pick me up from home each Sunday evening when I was a baby and toddler and take me to church with them. I was a very intelligent child as were my siblings but I believe they and my parents and grandparents saw something within me. One day I walked the aisle and got very soon after got baptized. They were instrumental in my close lifelong with Christ. I wish I could have thanked them, may they rest in peace because that dynamic was so awesome. Bless adults like this who go above and beyond.

No!!! Lie detectors are not admissible in any legal proceedings. Not to mention, they're many times, inaccurate. I took a lie detector test one time and failed. God is my witness, I did not do what I was accused of doing. Finally, I had to take a plea bargain on the charge. A blood test is foolproof.

I helped raise my niece and she has let me know she’s getting my name when she gets old enough out of appreciation and honor. She’s literally like my child and I helped rescue her from different situations so I understood. I’m not into tatts but if I was and one of my elders did what I have I probably would to.

When my ex-wife and I split, I took the kids. We had 2 together (girl and boy) and she had her 1 daughter that was prior to me. I ended up with all 3 kids, including her daughter. There were people on her biological fathers side saying negative things (I wouldn't trust no man with 2 girls by himself etc.) Yet, not one of those sorry asz family members talking, made an attempt to take the girl from me. I had been in this girl's life from 2 years old and she was 12 when we split. Her mother financially or mentally was not able to take care of her so, I felt it was only right to continue raising her along with my kids and I didn't want to split them up! She is now 27 and about to graduate medical school. My biological daughter is 22 and will be graduating from Rutgers in 2023. My son is a 17 yr old, 6'3 285lbs D tackle that is still in his junior year of high school and has LOTS of schools lining up to get him! I'd say I did just fine by myself and with the help of my NEW wife that I met 3 years after I divorced their mother!
I say all that to say, men can raise children just as well and we are NOT all fkn weirdos and sick perverts! Respect to this man for being the father figure this young lady needed!

Commenting as a friend of the family who is very knowledgeable about this sad sad situation. There were a few important missing pieces that would hopefully clarify some things.
1. It is my understanding that the family never had an issue with their relationship. It became an issue when he cheated on his wife and she, the plaintiff, befriended the mistress
2. He is no longer married to the aunt
3. Said family did not start rumors of paternity. I don’t think anyone in that family communicates with her because she alienated herself and moved in with the ex uncle in law. Instead, it was her soon to be ex husband going around telling people those rumors
4. Her husband made posts on social media indicating he wanted a DNA test or something.
5. After talking to the family, there hasn’t been anyone in contact with either of them to make claims about paternity or a pregnancy

Judge, every situation is different. I was abused by my egg donor, and I wished somebody would have came and got me, but it was a different era, when nobody believed what a child said, therefore, a lot of children endured horrible abuse and neglect. Times have changed and I am glad.

Those family members are projecting their own unresolved trauma, and a paternity test can't solve that. Those family members who spread the rumor need to redirect some of that chatty energy to seeking therapy. It seems like that are incapable of thinking that a Black man can be nurturing and paternal to the children in his family without having sinister and perverted motives. If I were her, I'd cut those relatives completely off, especially if they weren't the ones who stepped up to the plate when I lost a parent at 9.

Exes can be bitter and vindictive ex, so they may not always be the best source for information. Where's the actual proof of the relationship between the uncle and niece (texts, eyewitness testimony, recorded calls, etc.)? With all due respect, it's strange that you're under a bunch of these comments arguing against your family member like you want it to be true that your family member is sleeping with her own uncle. If it were my family, that's not something that I'd be arguing to prove, especially if there is no concrete evidence of such. All I'm asking is what proof is there that she's sleeping with her uncle. It's one thing to dislike her or be angry at her. It's an entirely different thing to adamantly accuse her of sleeping with her own uncle if that's something you don't know for sure. I just feel sad that so many people have experienced abuse to the extent that they are not able to fully trust a man or others, or fully believe that some people really have good intentions and come from a good place.
