As a pagan I wonder ...as Lilith represents the subconscious mind or the darkness from which our conscious mind is animated in everyday living, then what happens with people who think they have demons in there?

Just about every spiritual tradition or Religion has something of value to teach in my opinion. In a patriarchal society Lilith illustrates the dangers of a "free thinking female", "female empowerment", and the generalized "rebuke of a woman's independence" was carried down through the generations in an ideology towards the disobedient nature of a women.
Disobedience = Evil = The insecurities of a man have always been projected onto the female. People also always say:
"In nature, nothing can kill a Lion" ― This is 'not' true, because the death of most Lion's are from his own cherished 'Harem' ". The Lion's sense of overconfidence makes him a bully; yet, when the 'Harem' become disgruntled (usually because he's trying to kill another Lioness) they will often attack him back in retaliation. This is what usually kills a Lion, more so than another Lion that challenging him. It's just romantic to think another Lion kills another Lion for the rights to his Harem, because what would this say about the ― King's of Mankind.... ???
Lilith was not an "evil woman", by any means, but independent enough to "not" always stand by her man, which is intelligent. Lilith was originally created from Earthen-clay just like Adam, while Eve was created from Adam's rib, too perpetuate his dominance over her. In other words she was to remain subordinate to himself. And furthermore exacerbate the situation are the "temptation" from Eve onto Adam to eat, "The fruit of the knowledge of good and evil".
If God had said to Adam that Lilith was equal to himself and to treat her with respect: Things might have been very different. Lilith would have been first and only person to tell Adam:
"Put back that forbidden fruit you 'dumb-ass': Don't you remember what God said..... !!!!"
Besides that, it's a terrible mistake to assume that a perfect, all-knowing, all powerful God, made an admission of failure. God doesn't destroy Lilith, because it is said that He couldn't bear to destroy His creation ― So, He set her free. What does this say about God, Himself.....???
I think the story is an excuse to essentially say, "Woman are slaves to a man's desires".

@@tigre016 The metaphor of the snake is a long drawn-out story, but suffice it to say, the tree itself is "The knowledge of Good and Evil". Out of all the animals to dwell in Eden, only the snake personifies temptation 'not' evil ― But this must include Eve as well.
I've personally always believed that the snake represents a man's "dingdong" and Eve was tempted by it. Maybe that's the case, or not?
@@tigre016 I apologize for an abrupt response to your question. There are many doctrines across the entire planet Earth, who've pondered the same thing regarding the snake in the temptation of Eve, consequently her tempting of Adam with the "Fruit of 'The Knowledge' of Good and Evil".
Christianity holds many mysteries' concerning any clarification of it's teachings, but the "Origin/Genesis" are perhaps the most difficult to understand. There are more questions than there are answers, if you think about it, because they just don't fit together. If we were to follow the logic given to us, I could say that, if, everyone came from Adam and Eve, wouldn't this cause a lot of incest. Christianity depicts the serpent as "evil", however there are many other cultures who advocate that we humans were created from ancient serpent like gods. If you wish for more information, then lookup the "Nagas and Naginis" it's they who explain the best grasp regarding the serpent and at explaining how humanity is a creation from the great wisdom serpents gave humanity. Snakes are the guardian's of great wisdom and they hold power between the world of the living and the world of the dead.
