So true, it's not wise to waste 95% preparation for 5% tough questions. But i sometimes do some hard problems, maybe 4/5 in a week, just to bring some more variety and make the topic more interesting. Even my ALLEN teachers fail to solve those questions.
Okk lemme get it very clear I agree with what sir said with some modifications 1. He is right in the statement that PF is not at all necessary for JEE Adv 2. He is also right in the statement where he stated how Olympiad questions are framed But there are some points I would differ 1. These difficult questions are multistage questions but more difficult on the thinking side than on the calculus side 2. Its kinda good if u get through the MCQ of PF if and only if you have got your prep done for jee adv The last point I wanna note is a very strong one Yes PF is not a JEE oriented book, neither we can say that its exactly Olympiad oriented..... here's my proposition I can pretty boldly say that PF is for physics enthusiasts or in another way a motivation for you to learn and understand physical rather than just solve problems. Just take a minute out and thinl of the easiest pure rolling problem all of the JEE guys reading this comment have solved. Have you ever thought if pure rolling is possible in real life. Some might say there may be some sliding and all. But a more interesting fact is that we don't consider deformation of bodies while solving rotation problem. Now take my words JEE adv won't ask you questions on deforming bodies or non rigid bodies doing rotation (unless its a paragraph question)....but but but don't you think without knowing the real truth of pure rolling you just read it as a tool to get 4 marks rather than actually feeling what it implies in practical life. You don't need to solve problems of non rigid bodies but you need a problem (atleast one and not more than that as well) which would make you learn that this was a plausible scenario as well. So for me difficult problems of physics are not calculus heavy....rather difficult problems of physics are the realistic once and what makes them difficult is that you all are reading physics of an ideal bubble.... thinking beyond that bubble is what makes these realistic questions difficult. Well I am JEE 2020 guy and I have been through this phase and even qualifies for INPhO. I might not be the best at this but I am definitely worth of giving an opinion..... All the best who stick to this comment till the end for JEE or your passion.....If your passion is JEE see ya' in IIT soon as a senior
You will still get JEE advanced without an issue......but here's my approach , sort of a middle path.....do what u are doing don't change ur prep on a large scale.....just add a small speck of problem solved in ur strategy...... 1. Pick one and only one problem from those so called difficult problems out there.....if u don't know what a upper limit give the xyz book to ur teacher and ask him to pick one for you..... ponder over that for a week..... but don't waste more than 30 min per day.....then doesn't matter if you solved it or not....u tried hence you found doubts over the concepts u had.....talk to ur teacher about those doubts next sunday....get the question solved and pick one more problems.....You will improve a lot take my words.... 2. Don't get disheartened if you don't solve this so called hard questions......as long as you learn from it irrespective of solving it or not...you improved and the question served its purpose
