So lets start off on defining some terminology when reviewing drawings:
Plan Views: A term for any plan that is a top-down view of the project.
Enlarged Views: A term for a blown up, more detailed version of another view.
Elevation: A vertical view as if you are standing and looking directly at the project.
Section: A slice of the certain area
Schedule: A table that provides information about a certain entity.
Details: Most up close drawing of an item, will provide the most information about the item. These are one of the most important drawings for the project.
General Notes: Each drawing will have general or typical notes that will apply across the board for all drawings. Make sure these are read.
The idea behind reviewing construction drawings is that you need to get enough information out of it to ensure that you can build it on your own. I suggest going deep into small areas on each project and then pulling back and looking overall. Don't worry if you don't have the experience reading these drawings right off the bat, I didn't either but after a months of consistent work and effort, I was able to get the hang of it.

I do not own the rights to these drawings and they are not formal documents that a project was constructed to. The drawings reviewed do not necessarily reflect the work that was eventually put in place; they were used here for entertainment and educational purposes only. Your video format was arranged properly; simple to follow, and comprehend. No comment was unnecessary.all comments were information. You're classroom and textbook approach has a positive professional appeal. And, I could understand everything you said, proper annunciation makes it easy to listen and learn.

Everyday is a good day to learn! Thanks brother!
Thanks Carl!
I’ve been watching and going over your older videos ever since you did long a collab with Mat Picardal and I’ve been enjoying it. These videos are refreshing from the usual auto-pilot that I do in working. I know this video is over a year old and it’s intended to give an idea how to read plans. I hope I don’t scare the younger and aspiring engineers with this one but perhaps you could go over briefly what to look out for with specifications, technical reports, and contract documents. I used to dislike (since I prefer drawings over long worded paragraphs, I don’t know if I’m alone with that part) them but after going through them regularly, just kinda got used to it.
Keep up the great videos!
Thanks Jon! And great point. Will keep in mind 🤙 appreciate you watching!

Excellent job
Great vid, thanks.)
Fantastic videos, I think you should do videos on some basic 'fundamantals' that every aspiring CPM should know, then create videos for each of these fundamentals in more detail, perhaps by even visiting/filming the site for progress. Cheers!
Thanks Fasil! Appreciate your interest!
Am learning.....credible information. Good video
Thank you!
Great job, loved the video, would like to see a video that includes water, electrical and air and how you could use a blueprint from the build to determine best place to access these utilities for a new piece of equipment being installed in a room. Where to pull these resources from to connect to new piece of equipment such as an MRI, CT or X-ray device.
Super helpful!
I could tell just within the 1st minute of your video that you were from Hawaii. Mahalo for the content, I started as a laborer 2 years ago and want to progress with this as my career choice so I’ll be watching more of your videos!

I recently started an inspector position, entry level. I found myself trying to read rebar blue prints, and could only understand about 25% of it. Could you do a rebar breakdown, specifically for concrete pours?
Thank you for this.
