    Just bought one of these off of ebay from a company that sells refurbished corporate computers, in surprisingly pristine condition and relatively cheap. Several times with these used laptop purchases I've looked at your video reviews because you do such a great job of presenting the hardware! I got this for my young son so he can draw with it and do some homework- he doesn't need a high priced new computer, but this will be excellent for him. Thanks again for a great video! I love how a lot of expensive computers from a few years ago are bargain basement cheap now, yet still will get the job done.

      Hey, I'm watching this review for that exact reason. It's about $500 AUD. Considering buying it as it's probably going to comfortably do everything I need it too. Do you do any photo editing in it?

    • @Zactivist
      @Zactivist Před 3 měsíci

      @@samuraipizzacat2171 Sorry just saw this. This laptop is fantastic! I could easily use it for most tasks. For my son, I don't have Photoshop on it, but I did load Krita and Sketchbook Pro (found an older copy from when it was still free) and it works great for those things. I think it should be fine for basic photo editing. The screen looks really good. I checked and brand new batteries are available for it also, fairly cheap so when the time comes it will be easy to replace if needed.

    • @Zactivist
      @Zactivist Před 3 měsíci

      @@samuraipizzacat2171 oh one more thing, I found all the needed drivers for it at Lenovos site for installing WIndows 11- the only hiccup is the wacom pen wasn't working 100 percent (with pressure levels) with the driver on Lenovo's site. I got an updated driver directly from Wacom and the pen works perfectly now.

    bought Yoga X1 Carbon based on may reviews including Lisa's awesome to the point review. Just an update for people who are planning to buy X1 yoga 3rd Gen. I am have been using this laptop for 3 months now and it already is showing some issues. First and foremost is Flickering of Screen issue after only 1 hour of use. Second is that when you close the laptop without shutting it off and open it again after 5 min sometimes the screen doesn't come on, you have to close the screen and reopen it and then it works. and last is that now the fingerprint scanner has stopped working. I still home it may be I got a bad unit but lets see once I receive the laptop back after being fixed from Lenovo as to how it performs. Another thing about yoga line up I have heard from few of people who have owned Loga lineup that there is issue with yoga as to screen flickering, Cheers.

    I have one for years (2d gene) now and I still have amazing customer relation ; I have the feeling that I will have it for ever. Hi Lisa! Wonderful review as always! I absolutely adore your reviews of thinkpads! Given that most of them age so well I was wondering if there'd be a chance you might do a round-up style review for budget buyers - As an example, I purchased a used Lenovo T-410 about six months ago to learn web-development on and honestly it's been enough to get me through learning the basics all the way to making apps and getting clients. I think it'd be a great thing for students like myself who can only afford to ogle at the latest and greatest but still need something that's "good enough", and given that you've reviewed so many of them it'd be great to see your take on which models remain functional / or what to look for. Anyway, thanks again for the wonderful reviews. I love how thorough and honest you are!

    Wow, the yoga is running with my other choice, or two as I tinker with the thought of the Dell 2 in 1 15" or 13". Curious how this yoga will compare to the Dell and the HP Z Book 2? I plan to do/learn light video creation (up to 4K) as well as needing storage capacity (That is why the Dell and HP appeal to me as I think they can go up to 32gb RAM.). I take copious notes use storage faster than some. I managed to get a good 7years out of my last Vostro before it taking some nose dives and crashing, etc. It is retired and using a stand in Dell until I officially upgrade. I appreciate being able to get into the laptop and change things out if need be and or upgrade as was able with the Vostro. CZcams has been a lifesaver for that.A yoga feature or tablet as with the HP should work for other desired uses.Great video as always. Thank you.

    Lisa... Thank you for your informative reviews. While having a IT background it is no longer my primary focus. I decided to go w/ the Thinkpad Yoga X1 over many of the other models & competitors. While quite pleased for the most part the 1 complaint I have is the residue that left on the black framed model. I can send you some pics if needed. Residue seems to be from finger prints & also resting your palm or using the trackpad. Do you know if this goes away or what to do about it? I have just been using the microfiber cloth it came with to wipe it off. Takes a bit more elbow grease than i am comfortable with. I am working w/ Lenovo on possibly replacing it if it cannot be resolved. I am told it will go away in a few weeks. Any suggestions you have would be appreciated, I would rather keep the black than Silver.

    Excellent review. I'm with the other commenters in that I love your no BS style.
    I'm debating whether to get this laptop (or used 2017 model) for the Wacom AES, good keyboard and Trackpoint. I have a 2016 Dell XPS 15, and it's a nice laptop, but I'm SICK of using the crappy trackpad and longing to return to Thinkpad land. If there is one thing I wish Lenovo would introduce to their Thinkpad line is a discrete GPU option (1050 or something similar would be fine) for the ultrabooks. Currently the only Thinkpads that have GPUs are the workstation P models, which are huge, expensive and don't have Wacom AES. I guess it would be nice if the RAM was user upgradeable to 32 or 64GB too :D

    I definitely trying to decide on a 2n1 for Lightroom (90% of my time) and a little premier pro (10% of my time). I think it is down to this or the surface book 2. Any opinion would be great or maybe another option if you think one could be a better choice. Thanks in advance.

    Please do that surface book 2 comparison! Although personally I'll choose thinkpad for quality control any day.

    To anyone looking for further review of this laptop, I have been using it for 3 months now and it is an absolute beast. I cannot imagine life without my yoga x1. It has an incredible battery life, and as a digital artist the pen is beyond compare. THIS is one of the best laptops your money can buy, recommend all the fucking way.

      YESSSS! THANK YOU! As a fellow (aspiring) artist, I was SO hoping to get a review from an ARTIST'S POV, but could never find one! Thank you so much! I was especially wondering about the pen's performance! SOO glad it's awesome! *cries* THANK YOU! If you don't mind me asking, which screen did you get (I want the 1080p for battery life on the go), how is it, and is it really glossy (especially in (direct) sunlight)?

    • @rosemediagroupca

      @@7Write4This9Heart7 The screen is super vibrant, though I'm not sure about direct sunlight. I have had sun pour through the windows, though and it was fine. I got the 1080p and the battery life was awesome, like 10 hours when I first got it. now it's about 6 on average, still 10 on battery saver. It's a pretty bad ass build.

      @@7Write4This9Heart7 Definitely! my tumblr is darnheckingjuliet. You can find a lump sum of my artwork under the artwork tab (all digital art was made on my Lenovo X1) and all the illustration work in the poetry section was also done on this PC!

      @@rosemediagroupca Do you have how much of the color gamut the FHD one covers? Do the colors seem accurate? Lisa never mentioned that, and obviously, that'll be important to me. lol. I don't want the HDR version since it'll drain the battery too quckly.

    MobileTechReview Do you still have your 2nd gen x1 yoga? I have the first and second both with OLED. Love the OLED and would love to see a video of it next to this new Dolby Vision display. I heard your comments quickly comparing the two in this video, but would you be able to quickly show both next to each other?

    Excellent review. Wasn't afraid to forward it to my technophobic wife, who is deciding between the X1 Carbon and X1 Yoga. Is there any way you can compare the glossiness of the (non-touch) X1 Carbon HDR screen to the (touch) X1 Yoga HDR screen? I was wondering if the touch layer reduced the glossiness to any significant degree. Thanks!

    Apple's bugs and missteps have been making think about going back to Windows... this laptop makes me excited about maybe going back to Windows. Nice.
    BTW, have you ever tried turning your mic around so that the clip is on the outside, and the battery barrel on the inside of your shirt? I'm curious if that would work and make the mic more subtle.

      She mentioned something about that in a later video (a smackdown between C930 and Surface Book, I think? Been months, lol), mostly about how the C930 keyboard doesn't hold a candle to/is a lot mushier than the X1 Yoga's.
