I would recommend to buy Tin plate based on closing price on 14th july;
- exit from tata steel and buy one of the following stocks ( arbitrage advantage - tata steel merger) instead of tata steel.
* Tata steel long (ratio 67:10) ; will get tata steel at discount price 106.35
" Tinplate (ratio 33:10) will get tata steel at discount price 106.15
*TRF (ratio 17:10) will get tata steel at discount price 108.50
*Tata metaliks (79:10) will get tata steel at discount price 106.5
I would recommend to sell/exit from tata steel at current market price (117.65).
After merger for how many stocks I need to hold in tinplate and how many stocks I will get from tata steel.. Any details

Reason 1: you will spend 106.15 to get 1 tata steel stock.
Reason 2: spend 3500 rs for 10 stocks ( to get 33 tata steel stock).. most retail investors can spend a small amount only. you have to keep the stock in terms of 10 to meet ratio before the record date.
After the merger will ZERODHA take care of getting all the shares into TATA STEEL? Will we have to fill up forms to convert those shares

If you swap tata steel to metalicks to convert back to tata steel, it's not a good idea. On and average, the brokerage and taxes will be the gainer. If the sale gives profit, the tax component pulls the value. Given the small profit in the swapping of tata stocks, that actually leads to a moderate loss if capital gain tax is adjusted. Look so deeply to take a decision.

When researched not able to find the concrete merger record dates for both mergers ?
If we consider buying metaliks and IDFC now, what if the arbitrage concept or the gap which is maintained in between the stocks fail. Looks like the merger might happen end of this year, but no concrete dates.
So, in this scenario is it a good bet to invest in these stocks like IDFC and metaliks.
By the time merger record date hits the calendar, what are the possibilities that Tata steel or IDFC first bank gap which is explained fails or weakens

As per Today price
Tinplate 10 shares *350.30 = 3503
Tata Steel 33 share * 117.65 = 3882.45
So 3882.45- 3503 = Rs 379.45 PROFIT

Buying 10 shares of metaliks will be converted to 79 tata steel shares after the merger. Also the tata steel amount will be lesser when compared to current price as there will be more shares in the market.
