  • I bought my first full suspension bike, and took it to one of the rockiest trails I know to test it out.

    Dude thank you for this video. I just moved here and the first two trails I went on where not the best. These 3 trails are amazing. Thank you for making the video, and this is something that you can just do after work. So awesome!!

    I have the same bike and love it. Its playful, climbs well, and pretty light weight. I find it to be fun and playful to ride.

    You should go ride space walk and the new trail dipper. Nice video!

    Cool bike! can you close out the front and rear shocks from the handlebar? does it have levers to do so? thanks

    • @DonaldRidesBikes
      @DonaldRidesBikes  Před rokem

      They can both be closed out, but not from the handlebar. There are levers on the fork and shock themselves.

    Thanks for the video. Those rocks look brutal. I just bought (its in the mail) a Neuron 6. Do you think it's worth going tubeless? And if you did, what components did you use? Thanks for your time. Chris.

    • @DonaldRidesBikes
      @DonaldRidesBikes  Před 2 měsíci +1

      I would definitely recommend tubeless. I am using Muc-Off valves and Stan's sealant.

    I just got myself a Neuron 7 2023 and still tinkering with the sag settings. Curious, what kinda sag settings you running for these trails? And whats your weight? Thanks!

    • @DonaldRidesBikes
      @DonaldRidesBikes  Před rokem +1

      I've been keeping it around the factory recommended 15-20% sag in front, and 25-30% rear, but had to go way above their suggested pressure to achieve that. I weigh 160 lbs, and have the bike set up for a 210 lb rider according to Fox.

    hi, great video. I have a gravel bike and I want a mountain bike. I’m hesitating between the Neuron canyon and the Roscoe trek. Which one do you recommend? sorry for my level of English I am French.

    • @DonaldRidesBikes
      @DonaldRidesBikes  Před 5 měsíci +1

      It will depend on the type of riding you plan to do. I love my Roscoe for flow trails and jump lines, or easier (green/blue) tech, but on rougher stuff it can get a bit sketchy at times. The Neuron isn't quite as playful on flow trails, but still plenty of fun, and feels much more stable on the rougher stuff.
      If I could only have one, I'd take the Neuron since it is more capable overall, but the Roscoe is a great bike to learn on if you are new to mountain biking and will be riding easier trails to begin with.

    Will the Neuron survive the descent of the stairs? Or is it better to turn to Spectral for this?

    • @DonaldRidesBikes
      @DonaldRidesBikes  Před 7 měsíci

      The Neuron can definitely handle some stairs - I've ridden much rougher stuff with it!

    Hey Donald
    Last year i bought my Canyon neuron 6 al to replace an old hardtail that i used in xc races, now i got some friends that are doing ultra marathons up to 150km and the keep inviting me to go with them but in your opinion does the 140 mm travel in front with 2.4 tyres are good for this kind of race? Im not looking for the competitive side , i only want to finish and enjoy the day on the saddle.
    Thanks for your time

    • @DonaldRidesBikes
      @DonaldRidesBikes  Před 2 měsíci

      I've never raced, and the longest MTB ride I've done was only around 40 miles / 70 km, so I can't say for certain, but I don't see any reason why you wouldn't be able to ride the Neuron for something longer like that.

      @@DonaldRidesBikes my goal , and 90% of the riders who signed for this Race that Im talking ,only participate to finish ,of course there are a few that are forces of nature who Will Ride for Being the fastest but not me. Im ONLY interest on crossing the finish line not thinking on classifications. ONLY riding for pleasure of the mountain views. Thanks for your time. 👊

    I'm trying to buy a new bike, and I have the noobiest dilemma of all: a top notch hardtail or a lighter FS like the neuron CF9.
    I never had a full-sus, will this bike disappoint me compared to a hardtail? Does it feel less sharp than a nice hardtail?
    I'm looking at hardtails like the Ibis DV9 v2, which are just as expensive as this canyon CF9, and I find that ridiculous. But finding a nice, light hardtail with geo that is NOT like those twitchy XC bikes is difficult :)

    • @DonaldRidesBikes
      @DonaldRidesBikes  Před 11 měsíci

      If you're looking at high-end bikes like those, I don't think you can go wrong either way. If you are a newer rider, a hardtail may be better for improving your skills first before moving on to a full suspension, but both bikes will be a ton of fun.

  • @darrenkrolikowski4651

      @DonaldRidesBikes  Před rokem +1

      It's been awesome, I am a big fan so far! I'm on the fence about the stock tires, but that's an easy upgrade if I decide to swap them. Otherwise, no complaints.

    • @DonaldRidesBikes
      @DonaldRidesBikes  Před rokem +1

      @@DonaldRidesBikes Still liking it? I've had a Trek Marlin 6 for almost 3 years now and I'm looking to upgrade to a full suspension that's not too expensive.

    • @DonaldRidesBikes
      @DonaldRidesBikes  Před 7 měsíci +1

      @kokopellione Definitely! I rode a Trek Roscoe 7 for about 3 years before getting my Neuron. I think it's a great choice for a first full suspension. If you're already considering it, go for it!

  • @MaQuGo119
    @MaQuGo119 Před 8 měsíci

    Would this bike be too much suspension for XC?

    • @DonaldRidesBikes
      @DonaldRidesBikes  Před 8 měsíci

      If you're just doing it for fun, you could definitely still use a Neuron for XC, but it wouldn't be the most efficient. I think it would technically be classified as a trail bike. If you're actually racing XC, I would look for something lighter and a bit less travel.

    Tell me, height 170cm inseam 78cm size M will be large? Canyon website recommends S.maybe there is someone with this height? I’m very afraid to make a mistake

    • @DonaldRidesBikes
      @DonaldRidesBikes  Před 5 měsíci

      I am around 177 cm tall, with a 74 cm inseam, and ride a size M. Because of my short legs, I have the seatpost almost as low as the frame allows, but everything else feels like the perfect size. With your longer inseam you shouldn't have any issue with the seatpost, but with your shorter height there is a chance the reach could be too far.
      Canyon has free returns for the first 30 days, so you could always try one size, and if it doesn't work for you, exchange it for the other size.

      @thetrailneverends2949 Před 5 dny

      @@DonaldRidesBikes similar question: Im 6' even with a 32" inseam. Canyon says I need a M, but EVERY other bike brand with approx the same numbers says I need a large. Something doesn't make sense with this. Would a medium really be enough for my size? Really wish I could demo one.

    • @DonaldRidesBikes
      @DonaldRidesBikes  Před 5 dny +1

      @thetrailneverends2949 You're about 2.5" taller than me, with a 3" longer inseam - so your reach would actually be very similar to mine, but you'll need the seatpost slightly higher. I definitely think you'd be able to fit on a M, but if you get one and it feels too small, you can return it within the first 30 days and switch to a L.
