Heres a few fun facts about this legend:
Eyedea had a black belt and would challenge people twice his size and have them on the floor.
Eyedea was popular for break dancing before he took up the mic. He was specifically popular for being 14 and being able to head spin and freesyle at the same time.
Eyedea was offered a record deal by P Diddy and turned it down because he believed in himself and his crew.
Eyedea used most of the money he made doing freestyle competitions into starting Rhymesayers.
Eyedea used to be known as "little mikey" who was known for being a child who could roll with the adults and spit fire like no one had seen before. The fact that him, slug, and aesop rock all grew together and believed in each other enough to start their own label blows my mind to this day.
Thank you, been listening to eyedea since I was a little kid. 28 now, and he was just my philosopher/ poet/ freestyle rhymer/ rock star/ emotional outlet/ just, a great friend. The craziest part is I'm not even being extra, if anything I'm not even scratching the surface. He was just as disturbed as me it felt and I felt Oliver Hart and first born ressinated with me so much when I first heard it. The first song I ever heard from him was even shadows have shadows. Delira Innominata I have to disagree with that. Eyedea's music is a reflection of the deepest aspects of who he was as a person. In a sense, fans knew him as intimately as his closest friends did, just in a different way. Any great artist's music is a reflection of their innermost character.

It makes me feel better to know that there IS a universe out there where Mikey is still alive and well, still making amazing music. If such technology should ever exist that I would be so lucky to visit said universe, I'll send a mixtape back, cuz I'm staying there. Honestly, I'd rather exist in that universe because the world needs more humans like Mikey. RIP to one of the greatest.

R.eye.P 7 years ago today we lost one of the greatest artist to walk the earth, even tho I never got to meet you. no one else can connect to the deepest parts of my soul the way you can.
I Saw him and Doseone in Ann Arbor Michigan on the by the throat tour. He rapped for like 2 hours straight. Doseone did great too. What a cool show, for like 15 bucks. Anyways, yeah I walked up to Michael at the merch table. it was really weird cuz he was selling his own shirts and cds and stuff, and nobody was even talking to him. I chatted with him for like at least 15 minutes and he was so crazy nice. Got a couple pictures with him even! And then like a cpl months later I heard the bad news. Totally sucked. Me any my dudes would rock his shit all the time like 20 years ago now. Damn. Its cool to see so many ppl on youtube just getting into his stuff. Peace out brother.

I met him once at Red Rocks in Colorado during probably one of the biggest sold out shows of his life and mine as well.... I saw him just standing there looking at the crowd and was tripping out cause no one noticed it was him. Man that was the best show of my life , totally insane
