    I have owned an RMAX4 XT- R for going on 2 years now with 2300 miles and my honest opinion is that you are paying for a utility buggy. I’m 19 and of course I’m not keeping up with a YXZ or an RZR but they are not meant for kids. Rattles like a can of bolts going down any trail over 25 mph and bucks like a wild bronco with 4 people riding. They are hogs through mud holes but you will clog your sheaves. The most comfort I have is the ambient lighting in my footwells. You get the Yamaha reliability but the satisfaction of a motel 6. I love the machine to death but these honest reviews are just trying to justify a purchase. I’d recommend it to anyone that wants a 4 seater for a 2 seater price. That is my honest review.

    I have a '21 Rmax4 LE, it's a beast!! I have always owned Yamaha quads (Grizzly), I saw my RMAX4 on the showroom floor, before the salesman could say "Hi", I said I'll take that RMAX4 right there, then I called my wife and told her she lost her garage spot for her Jeep...LOL

    My wife has the LE with the switchable suspension with the IQS. Our only complaint after 2k miles is no turf mode. Back tires wear much more than expected. I dislike the power loss in diff lock. The thing is a tank. Out wheels my maverick and all our other stuff by far.

      There is no power loss in lock. You have to wait for it to engage fully... if the light is flashing it is not locked.
      It may be SPEED limited, but it has full power.
      Turf mode is just another sensor to go bad, or solenoid to break. I'd rather it not have one more thing to fail.

    • @spyder000069
      @spyder000069 Před rokem +2

      Wolverine x2 XTR owner and have the same feeling about the turf mode. We have 5 acres of yard to play around in and the locked rear axle digs up the yard with every sharp turn. Its mainly for the wife and daughter to play with as I am an ATV guy and it doesn't matter how many times you mention to not turn sharply its going to happen. I put on a more truck like tire with a flatter pattern on it and it helps but a turf mode would be great. Pioneers have it and it seems to be reliable for them so I am sure yamaha could figure something out. Also I just cringe when I see it hopping and chirping tires when making turns on pavement. Got to be rough on the driveline.

    Recently purchased the RMAX4 1000 we love it, love the ride, but our complaint was the roof is so high we could not fit it into our enclosed truck so we had to chop the roof 4 inches lol. Then my husband put on a checker plate aluminum roof now it’s modified to our perfection.

    I hope you have better luck than I, but….
    2021 Rmax 1000 x4, current miles 1760. Banging/Clunking of the rear axle shafts when turning, mostly to the left.
    The cause IS DESIGN DEFICEINCIES. My wife and I are seniors that put-put thru the trails and give rides for the grandkids. If executed correctly, these joints would FUNCTION FLAWLESSLY and last a lifetime.
    I replaced the rear half shafts and inspected them. The inner and outer races of the inboard CV, the modified rzeppa joint, have deep dimples where the balls normally ride. I am guessing that the noise is created when the extra torque created while turning causes the balls to bind and jump from dimple to dimple. (any “scrubbing action” should be a piece of cake for this type of joint in this light of a vehicle). I believe lack of attention to detail in Yamaya’s execution IS the cause. Until Yamaha focuses their attention on the details and implements the design correctly, the problem WILL PERSIST. GOOD LUCK!

      @@StockyBaldman in my area it's mostly rain wind and cold. So full enclosure is a must and Yamaha lacks badly in that department. For soft enclosures.
      Also it's very loud inside and people here want quiet. Like defender limited and ranger Northstar. People said this is one of the loudest interior bikes on the market

      I love my '22 LE. I use it mostly desert riding but the thing has plenty of power the engine heat is not bad in the front seat but the kid said I get a little hot in the back on the leg. For the noise I ride with helmets so it's not a problem for my people. It a billy goat crawls up everything. Max speed is about 68.

    • @StockyBaldman
      @StockyBaldman  Před rokem

      I haven’t been around the general much, but I would say that it is a lot more utility based than fun sport machine. That being said, can you go out and have a good time in either of them and do work it either of them absolutely.

    • @Travide
      @Travide Před 10 měsíci

      My dad has the general. I have the Wolverine if I could turn back time I'd take the general any day. The Yamaha is more refined not so jerky on the gas pedal. And steering feels nicer. But u can't beat the polaris accessories and it's about 8 times more quiet inside

    meh ~ 25 - 30k for a glorified golf car? ~ No windows really figured for such cost?
    There's no trail in this vid my first 4 seat, with course tires ('89?) Club Car didn't do. And it had a ball washer for them hot days. (-: ~~~ Seats back to back all convo can be heard, well yeah..18mph. Fast 'nuff on farmland trails with my lifted chubby tires jobbie.
    ~ People purchasing these rigs farked things up not forcing companies to block out the weather as standard equipment.
    eesh, taking cover from Red box storm wasn't the greatest deep woods. ~ Move to smaller trees area 'n crack a brewski in prayer..as the smaller forest folded over forty meters off.

    • @StockyBaldman
      @StockyBaldman  Před 2 měsíci +1

      Comparing this to a golf cart is like comparing a Volkswagen to a Ferrari. I know what you’re saying about weather protection, but having all that weight up top really adds to the body and makes the handling not so great.

    • @brianbartulis9709
      @brianbartulis9709 Před 2 měsíci

      @@StockyBaldman huh, good point. Next time I'm being chased in my Jeep Rubi I'll remember to roll the windows down. (-: ~ ~ That's probably my problem with the newer side by sides. Besides all the 18mph beating around on two of my lifted golf cars, I didn't spend even 20k for my '06 Rubicon/dual top.
      Maybe I best wait a couple years for a Farmer Brown version with flip down/roll up plastic windows.
      ~ Silly for me to babble on. One year I saved outside rainy July weekend fun by adding a tarp over roof top branches held by bungee cords. ...big ol' awning was just enough to remain dry cruising the 200 acre Gramp's old digs farmland/woods. And that was without any pre-planning, just shot from hip thang.
      For most part it's been private lands riding the golf cars/Jeep (carts gots no engine) with too much drinking, so it's been more slow cruising. No hazards as long as any wayward dogs don't sit on the gas peddle forgetting to turn off key.
      Jeeps on mild grades/trails? Did you know one could pop a Jeep in 4wd/ 1st gear 'n hop up on the roll bar and steer with Bare feet? (shoes not good for wheel material) ...right on up near 30° grade 'n down at idle.
      Too fun/relax. I named it Elephant Ride being such high view.
      ~~ blah blah. Have a great Independence Day SB.
