  • This will be my final mention of the Gear Indicator & Cruise Control problem unless it happens again.
When I began using the Cruise Control on warm days and above 70mph on the NYS Thruway the Gear Indicator started flashing from 6 to 1 which disengaged the Cruise Control. It affected nothing else.
Under warranty, my local dealer changed the Gear Sensor
    CFMOTO OEM Part #0700-063100-30001
It is not known if this was directly connected or just a weird coincidence but after it was changed the bike went into Limp Mode with P Code 060069 that CFMOTO told my dealer was unknown to them and they agreed to change the ECU, under warranty. I have not yet had the opportunity to have that changed.
After finding several comments and one video on CZcams I ordered a replacement Reverse Gear Sensor CFMOTO OEM Part #0700-065210
and changed it myself as it requires no special tools or training.
That video can be watch here to see how to change the part yourself if you don't want to wait for the dealer.

Since then, I have done 640miles only at speeds above 70mph in temperatures ranging from 24°F to 58°F and have had no recurrences. I feel confident that the problem has been fixed.
You can find the exploded view diagrams and individual part order pages here. Of course you can try to find them in your own country where they might be cheaper than shipping from the US.

I have ordered additional parts to have in case it occurs again but they haven't arrived yet.
This problem also helped me identify that the factory speedometer is off ranging from 1-7 miles per hour at speeds of 35mph to 109mph on the bike. At 109mph on the CL-X Heritage, both Google Maps app and the completely free Speedometer Pro app have verified that the speed was really ~only~ 102mph, and with the Cruise Control set at maximum of 80mph we are really going 75mph!
While Google Maps requires you to use your phones data plan time, the Speedometer Pro app does not. It uses GPS satellites to update the speed from your choice of every second up to every 10 seconds. It also records the history of each trip along with a small map to let you know what speed you were at at any specific point along your trip. So far I've only had one small ad pop up in the middle of the history section and not in any of the live trips or individual trip histories. I did mention that it's free!
I am not "officially" involved with either of these, it would be great if you joined both the CF Moto CLX700 owners group on Facebook and the CFMOTO Forum which has separate areas for each 700 CL-X model as well as others and their side-by-sides and quads, for people to post and share problems, stories, videos and photos.

I have now ridden 7,366.9miles since October 14, 2022! Over 173 hours on mostly twisty back roads of the Catskill Mountains in Upstate NY with the bike in Sport Mode, I have been using 6.7l/100km or getting 38mpg while my former average speed has dramatically increased from 41.3mph to a whopping 59.2mph because of the increased time at higher speeds testing the replacement parts.
I hope this helps and if you are having this issue please feel free to let me know and I will do my best to help you track down the parts.
    Keep those odometers turning!!

Hi guys... i'm from México...I have 3 months with my brand new clx700 heritage and last sunday 14 may ...I was riding my bike and sudenly in 6th gear goes to 1 gear....no other problem than that... I look the part of the problem its the reverse gear sensor so I ordered and I will change by my self and see whats happen ...
But I see more people have the same problem ...
Cfmoto owners in the same boat with gear indicator problem ...
But i see other guys with no problems at all ...
Lets see if the gear sensor solve the problem ...

For those who come to this video and have a similar experience, the issue is fixed VERY EASILY. Literally a 5 minute fix. Take the sense that 700CLX mentions in this video and remove the washer that is in there. Clean the threads and apply some lock tight approx 3/4 from the bottom and screw it back into the gearbox. Voila!! Problem solved.
The issue comes from the ball at the end of the sensor. As you shift gears and the gears moves to the left, the little ball at the end of the sensor doesn’t get pressed in far enough with the washer which results in the faulty gear indication. Think of it as a false neutral when you don’t shift properly.

Hi @tony-clx700 I own a cf clx 700 heritage with 7145 miles I haven't had any real problems just a loose clamp on the radiator hose which I immediately noticed. Thank you, thank you very much for the initiative to publish your story and how you solved it. Very important.

Hello Tony! I'm sorry for the delay but I didn't get a notification from YT. Thanks for taking your time to watch and comment. Please let me know if you have any questions or run into a problem and can't get parts locally! I'd be happy to try and help. At the same time, I wonder if you might be able to help me get parts for the Adventure model that are not sold here in the US? You can find my email here www.youtube.com/@700clx2/about

Hello. I’m picking my new 2022 700 CLX up the week after next. Is the CC problem something I should have them address before delivery or is it random and not on all bikes? Please let me know asap if possible. Thanks.

    • @700clx2
      @700clx2  Před rokem

CONGRATULATIONS and thank you for taking your time to watch the video and reaching out!!!! To be absolutely honest, I can't say either way! There are too few owners sharing their experiences, so I can only assume that many owners don't have the opportunity or desire to use the CC above 75mph or 120.7km/h so they won't know if it is affecting their bikes and sadly, we won't either.
As I noted everywhere I could, it only happened to me on days warmer than 40° with CC set in 6th gear above 75mph after many miles. It didn't happen immediately so it could be temperature related although my dealer said it was a voltage/resistance issue because of the way the shift drum/sensor placement is designed. If it does happen you can just reset it at a lower speed or in 5th gear at any speed.
Also be advised that the factory speedometer is off from 1mph at 30mpg to 10mph+ at speeds over 100mph. When the CL-X says 80mph on the gauge you're likely ~only~ doing 75mph. That explained why I wasn't getting pulled over for speeding on the NYS Thruway. I figured this out using both Google Maps app and the free Speedomter Pro app. I would recommend the Speedometer Pro app as it doesn't use your phone's data, and provides a great map snapshot of your route when you're done for the trip/day. The only downside I've got is that if you stop somewhere it uses that dead/down time as part of it's calculation for average speed. For example if you did two 100mph runs in 5 minutes and than had to wait 2 hours to run again it would give you an average speed of 2-5mph but it will post your true top speed so be sure to stop measuring after each run/race or at the end of your day's ride instead of the next run or next day. IfYou can see my example and what I'm going to update about here facebook.com/groups/1175475552872089/search/?q=catastrophic
Things won't get better unless people and CFMOTO know what is happening to the owners of their products so I would implore you to help make the community better by signing up at facebook.com/groups/1175475552872089?sorting_setting=CHRONOLOGICAL That is the global group and while there is one for US owners I don't understand why it was made private so I did not join it as I want CFMOTO and other owners everywhere to know what's going on with our bikes and to feel comfortable posting both good and bad experiences!!! If you search that group you can see how many people commented on it and their reactions/solutions to it.
This one might be more important as it covers all CFMOTO products but has way less activity than the FB group!
      cfmoto-forum.com/index.php#c9
I'm posting about a recent bad news event later this week so please check back in a few days or if you like I'll respond here again so you get notified that it's posted.
If the CC does become a problem for you and your local dealer can't locate the replacement sensors, let me know. I purchased a few from other countries, though for far more than the US cost, to have on hand just in case!

This seems to be a fairly common problem on the 2022 model. This CC issues has been happening on mine along with other's experience that I've read on different forums. I found that for the moment when in 6th, if I keep some slight upward pressure on the shifter with my foot, it will stay engaged. if I stop adding the slight pressure, with in a few minutes the CC will disengage again.

Others have said their dealers are covering replacements under warranty but I haven't had the opportunity to get to the dealer yet. Please let me know how you make out with it.
