Too hot to handle, too cold to hold
They're called the Ghostbusters and they're in control
Had 'em throwin' a party for a bunch of children
While all of the while the slime was under the building
So they packed up their group, got a grip, came equipped
Grabbed they Proton packs off their back and they split
Found about Vigo, the master of evil
Try to battle my boys? That's not legal
Yeah, I think this is gonna be another one of those funky ones
Heart & soul, da da dance
If I was you, and you were me, you'd wanna be winnin'
If you want somethin' bad, yo, you gotta wanna give your all
'Cause I believe so much in we and no we're not kiddin'
If you feel the same as me, yo, you gotta want to take the ball
Now I found out that nothin' is given
Don't know where the cards may fall
All I know is that we've gotta get it
We've gotta make it on our own
Well I guess we're gonna have to take control
(All on our own)
If it's up to us, we've got to take it home
(All on our own)
Now can't you see that all we need to be a go getter
Gotta make your own decisions, you gotta go for what you know
It comes a time in our lives, you wanna be bigger
Gotta keep keep on pushing, you gotta learn to take control, yeah
Now I found out that nothin' is given
Don't know where the cards may fall
All I know is that we've gotta get it
We've gotta make it on our own
Well I guess we're gonna have to take control
(All on our own)
If it's up to us, we've got to take it home
(All on our own)
Gotta, gotta, take it home, gotta, gotta, gotta take it home

Try to battle my boys? That's not legal
(Oh-we-oh)
They're in control
(Oh-we-oh)
Ya ya ya know it
(All on our own)
I said, they're in control
(Oh-we-oh)
Ya ya ya know it
(Oh-we-oh)
Ya ya ya know it

We got, we got, we got

A song written about the Ghostbusters slaps harder than 90% of the music in 2023. (I know the song is about being a go getter) 80's and 90's music is just superior. Say what you want about Bobby Brown, the man knew how to entertain.

This was a huge song when I was a kid in middle school, I didn't see Ghostbusters 2 for another couple years, never associated it with the movie until I was older. It's still a jam all these years later! Even after metal music melted my brain and eardrums!

I dunno why they don't play this anymore on the radio. They still play Every little step and My Perogative sometimes on Throw Back Thursday, but never this song and it's undoubtedly one of his best hits.
@hazell5457 The last time I heard it was on Backtrax USA with Kid Kelly back in 1998 and I still have the audio tape I used to record it from the radio broadcast!🤔📻🙏🎧
@SuperMario Bros. III wow that's a long time ago..you see? They never play it on the radio and not even on R&b old school stations. And I just heard My Perogative a few days ago on the John Tesh show. It's such a jam that should still get air play.
@@hazell5457 I could also have to do with licensing of the track as when the song was released the contract for the duration of years the song could be played over the radio may have expired years and years ago and was never renewed. Much like other songs from the 80's which have all but vanished from the radio airwaves since the 80's. Other artists who have had this contract renewed their songs continue to be played on the radio today!🤔📻🎵🎧
I didn't know about that licensing artists had to do with their songs. But it makes so much sense. It's too bad that a lot of them didn't renew their contracts on their music.
I think because it was from Ghostbusters and the rap kind of dates it a little more than his other hits.

I’m glad Bobby got to experience the solo success he did even if it was for a few years bc his peak was MASSIVE! In 1989 he outsold every other popular artist at the time with Don’t Be Cruel. Performance wise Bobby had James Brown/Michael Jackson type of stage presence. And he was arguably just as good of a dancer in his peak. He wasn’t traditionally a godlike singer like a Michael Jackson, Luther Vandross, El Debarge, or Johnny Gill but he carried his own vocally in his songs. Bobby shined on stage that’s why he’s known as the KING OF STAGE! He also was one of the first popular r&b artists that consistently rapped in his songs. Him and Teddy Riley were the main pioneers of the New Jack Swing sound that dominated r&b/pop music from the late 80s to early 90s.

@@rainflowers1099 yes! I forgot about Bill & Ted's! Back then it was such a different era! no social media, everything was heard thru the papers, the news and people's mouths, not like today,
@@dennismolina9033 Absolutely, such simpler times. Less media white noise to contend with. I was only a kid in the 80s, but I remember it well, and the early 90s. Kind of wish I could go back :)
@@rainflowers1099 Definitely! We must be Reagan babies! 👶 😂. I'm 42, going to 43 later this year, October 7 '80. I was still young growing up back then but i have memories, we're 80s babies, 90s teens! The 90s raised us! 😂
God please take me back🙏nothing better than the 80's man..
Growing up as a child of the early 90s, this was definitely an irreplaceable treasure along with all the movies at that period.
The world has changed and not necessarily for the better.
People in the 80s were saying the same thing about the 50s
Blame the river of mood slime running under everything.
Prepare for it to get even worse, just like adulthood its only downhill from here
Definitely true and I wasn't even born in the 80s and u miss it 😕
@@daustin8888 yes but the world clearly has taken a sharp decline over the past decade, it’s ignorant to say otherwise
That song is so good!! Such a nice 80s vibe and nice rhythm to dance on!! That was music!!
Before 50 cent and Nelly etc.. during the 80s Bobby Brown had the clubs jumping classic
Possible the best song from a movie that I can remember.. What other movie song hit like this did?
This is one of the greatest feel good songs ever to me!!!
As a 38 year old man, I 💯 agree!!
It's so is! This and HOT SPOT by DAZZ BAND is also AMAZING feel good tuneeeeeeee
Christopher Reeve: What a guy!
No one will ever beat him as superman
@@TheReesi73 well he did set the standard for superman
@@TheReesi73 infinite 👍
This song is still absolutely awesome in 2024. I remembering hearing this on the radio when the movie premiered in the 80s. I was 4 or 5 yrs old. It'll never get old. So many wonderful memories!
This is still that jam in 2023
One of the best movies and songs from 89!
Yesssssss
Agreed

Green jacket and rockin the Gumby Cut!! Cold AF!
President Funny Valentine D4C Yeah, but plenty of peeps know it and call it the Gumby! WOW...
Awesome song and video. There's an innocence there that just doesn't exist in today's pop culture. This is precious. Thank you for posting!
Exactly!!!
Even the rapping and singing sounds different and this beat is lethal
Bobby Brown is a underappreciated genius who led an awesome Ghostbusters soundtrack
Up dancing, remember when this song and movie came out. Omg...... What a time to be alive.
