In Malaysia especially Sarawak here, we called it Chai Kueh. Except Malaysian ones looks a bit more like gyoza shaped Chai Kueh. The fillings is almost the same as the Soon Kueh from Singapore.
Ic! I just came back from sarawak! Videos coming soon!
@@ZermattNeo I'm going back to Kuching tomorrow for CNY - can't wait to have my kolo mee and Sarawak laksa!!! Hope you've tried them when you were in Sarawak! :)
Yup. You are right.. I never image what Soon Kueh is.. until you mentioned Chai Kueh.. then I know.. 😂
Hello Zermatt, I always feel intrigued by your amazing food challenge videos, the food looks so flavourful. 😊 Please take care of your health. Wishing you a wonderful lunar new year in advance. 💜
I am a Teochew. My late grandma made the best kueh. All these kueh stalls i tried before. One in Bt Batok and one in Yue Hua near town council, 2 in Bt Merah and so far. I find Yong kueh in Hougang is the best. Thanks Zermatt for the wonderful video.
You're welcome!
Watching you eating make me want to come back to Singapore. As me and my husband were in Singapore for 3 days visit , we were cruising with Viking Sky for 30 days from Sydney to Singapore .
Love your beautiful country !all the taxi uncles were very nice to us.hopefully we can come back in future to try the foods we did not have. 3 days is not enough.from 12 th to 14 th March this year,
Singapore is paradise of foods ! Beautiful and so clean !
Keep on doing your video, Zermatt ! I am sure in futur whenever people talk about Singapore will mention your name also ! Big Bravo to you always! 👏👏👏❤️😋
Great video. Always love seeing the different foods you eat.
More to come!
Watching this at night is making me hungry. I love to eat Soon Kueh and Peng Kueh🤤
So good
Peng kueh must pan fry then shiok 😅😆 🤤🤤🤤
Soon=筍,kuchai=韮菜,Peng=飯(福建話),台語發音一樣。
台灣也有各式各樣的粿(kueh)。不過沒有包飯(peng)的粿,
Raina有一支影片,她在新加坡吃紅龜粿(Ang Gu Kueh),
裏面包紅豆的,我才發現新加坡居然也有各種的粿。
粿是糯米做的,不好消化。
Zermatt你是鋼鐵胃。
哇原来哈哈哈 谢谢你教会我
@@ZermattNeo 不客氣,大家互相學習,我也從你那邊學了很多。
I love both the normal soon kueh and also the one with chives 🤤🤤
Yummy soon kueh! Zermatt’s video is the way to recommend good food from his channel! 🎉🎉🎉👍 好吃😋!
🙏🙏🙏
I love soon kueh and the koo chye kueh (chives). Looks good, my place however only has 1 stall and their soon kueh (no koo chye kueh) doesn't taste that good. I'm salivating at the sight of you eating that many plates. Missing good soon kueh and koo chye kueh right this very minute! 🤤
Try this stall! Pretty solid
Great video Zermatt, the soon kueh looks good, thank you for sharing this place with us. I've added it to my list when I come to visit Singapore.
Please do!
@@ZermattNeo will do.
TQ!! I ❤Soon Kueh and Jui Cai Kueh…🥰 Will check it out sometime next wk!😁👍
Hope you like it!
Yes, I agree with Zermatt. Whenever I am there, wld definitely buy cuz they are hand-made (witness them kneading dough), fresh & yummy. Sometimes either sold out or long queues but people still queue & buy either for colleagues or family. Though long queues but they serve pretty fast so not a problem. Anyway, I love all 🤤 👍
Yes they're really quick!
Watching this at midnight I’m salivating 🤤
This 2 kuehs are my top 5 favourite kuehs we have in SG (including nyona kuehs). Def picking the chives any day any time, although the turnip is also good. I love chives anything.
Hopefully they open a stall at the east or north area cause I’m not sure if this would be worth travelling across the country by public transport to try these 😢
Same! Chives ones got so much moisture
the authenticity of Zermatt's review are top notch, Rarely seen Mukbangers describe food so well too. Like ive said before in zerms' video he is worth the watch. zermatt wo ai ni

@@ZermattNeo eat free food again ? no need to pay ? so good
@@user-pv5ns8zs8v His Job/hobby is to eat bro. And knowing zermatt and his team they paid, I have no proof of this but neither do u they get it for free soooo stop hating and maybe if u want? try eating like him maybe ud get some sponsors too
The chive kuehs are my fave of the range. Especially when lightly pan fried. Soon kueh's a close second. I'd say good suggestion, but look who I'm talking to. We all know our boy got taste! Let's all unite and promote all the worthy awesome hawkers, restaurants, eateries, and food in general!
A hearty breakfast indeed!
😂
I agree with Zermatt, chives kueh pan fry taste better. You make me miss my mom's peng kueh and soon kueh......
😢😢😢
Just dabao 2 each of panfried rice kueh, chives, and cabbage. Cabbage one is my fav hands down, followed by chives. I don’t like turnip so passed on that. I think the rice can skip also 😅
Thanks for sharing this its quite near my place! Will go down again for the cabbage ones!
Oh she's said the cabbage ones are really good but I didn't get to try sadly lol
Glad u like it. I grew up around that area.
Awesome
Soon Kueh always the best food, I sure will eat it.
Won't get tired of it one
Wow the kuchai Kueh and soon kuay - bamboo shoot taste better than turnip fillings it's really cheap over there.
In YISHUN the soon kuey and kuchai Kueh costs $1.80 each and you eat 2 of them for $3.60 can buy you a plate of chap chai PNG
Icic!
The auntie that asked if he told his mum to not cook dinner 😂 so cute
I am a Teochew & I enjoy eating soon kueh too. 😊
帅哥今天吃的这摊棵,我去买过几次,星期天每次排长陇,我比较喜欢吃煎的,👍👍👍
我也超爱煎的
Now this looks hard to finish 😂. So filling!
Wah this place got a lot of v nice kueh shops!
Yes they do
Zermatt, try Xishi bakkwa. The bakkwa is very tasty, chewy, not hard to chew.
You can giap the bakkwa with breads aww
Sureee
This looks so good. What are their operating hours! I am going to try.
bro.. 92 plates is carzyy ALOT already man well done man!
Thanks boss!
Teochew uncle very happy :-)
You should try the fried Peng kueh! My fave is pan fried peng kueh
Hahaha ok next time I try
I think there’s one challenge Zermatt will not beat, 100 large bottles of water… no time limit😂😂😂😂
I'll die from water intoxication first
Wah looks good
It was
My family made and sell the Best such kueh kueh in my childhood days. Ang Png Kueh , Soon Kueh, Koo cai Kueh, Cai Tao Kueh. Then palm size only selling at $0.15 and $0.25 per piece. The skin is really used stone grinded rice milk. Every ingredients are hand made and cut . Very very tired as a hawker in pushed cart but at stationed place 1970s. Nowadays the kuehs skins no match and mixed with potato starch for some. Also for profits, no longer have much ingredients. 🤔
Wah mad.
@@ZermattNeo price mad or ingredients shortchange mad 😄 CNY or When Taoist festivals we only sell the Red Png Kuehs by orders. CNY Specials will be Black skin - 鼠壳kueh in same of Red Png Kueh. More interesting when i reminisce. Then ppl can bring their prawns, eggs to add onto our Fried Carrot kueh or any Kuehs no extra charging. Oh why then better taste also using lards 👍😋
哇這個我們家愛吃 看你吃好好吃🤤👍我跟我兒子訂閱👏👏祝你快快50萬
好呀 谢谢你哦
Ku Chai is my favorite filling for my Soon Kueh!
Yeah bro that one more flavorful and a lot more moist
@musichavensg Ku chai is ku chai 韭菜,not soon 笋 😂 2 diff main vegetables = 2 different names
@@ngcollin88 I know but that is how I spell it hahaha
Zermatt, did u upgrade to S24 Ultra or still stick to the previous gen? I just got mine anyway, its aweome 😊
I might tho! But both looks the same leh
@ZermattNeo the new AI feature is awesome. Yes the design remains almost the same with slight change.
BangKuang in English is Jicama in Chinese is 沙葛.
帥哥,笱粿和菲菜棵,倆种粿吃起来真的很饱,辛苦了,谢谢帥哥分享!👍👍👍💖💖💖👏👏👏
The pink kweh needs to lightly pan fried. I used to not like it like you cos is just glutinous rice and peanuts. It tastes much better pan fried like the chives kweh. Also the glutinous rice needs to be nicely coated with oil and fragrant- though i dunno how the stall owner does that. The not so nice one is tasteless. Anyways good video! Thanks for the narrating once again 😊😊
This hawker is opposite my house. Their cai fan and chicken rice is nice too.
Yeah cai png queue non stop
When i see you eating a massive burger 🍔 i crave burgers 😅
When i see you eating 7kgs of Penang charkweytiao i crave for that 😅😋 🤤 🤤 🤤 🤤
Now when i see you eating 100 soon kuehs i also crave for soon kueh 😅why liddat 😂😂😂😂
Ke kou mian in Yishun blk 233 is very nice, this is why I don’t recommend zermatt to try. Later the 2nd generation owner will closed shop because of zermatt
Hahaha my next video is kkm sia
Wow it's been some time since I last saw Ronny, help me say hi to him hahaha
The market very near my place 😊
Total is 50 soon kueh and 50 ku chai kueh with a few png kuehs?
Around there. No, a little lesser
next can try koo chai kueh or suan pan zi
Sure 😊
actually not radish. It is a combination of man guang (turnip in singapore (turnip outside Singapore means different thing) actually jicama rest of world same as rojak) and soon (bamboo shoot).Come hougang area you find many.
Got it!
I like Koo chai kueh more than soon kueh cos i prefer the taste of chives but turnip is also nice. I like the Peng kueh only if they pan fried it as I don’t like the slimy outer pink texture from young.
I never fancy the texture of png kueh tho like it's so tough
歐耶!Zermatt上片啦!!我又可以配飯了!💯💯
🔥💯
Zermatt, that vegetable is called Jicama, not Turnip, which is totally another root vegetable.
Wha laoooooo the que long enough liao..
😂
Zermatt you make me home sick I still love Hougang Teochew Kueh
Next time I go there!
thats what i think - every kid in hougang eat soon kueh, and chwee kueh - teochew culture in sengkang and hougang still strong.. can go to Kovan (hand made) and many places to get all the time.
Well done. How about trying yusheng loh hei. 10kg. 😁
Wah cannot will diarrhea one
@@ZermattNeo your 7kg fried beef rice was gd. Maybe spore try 10kg

HAHAHA I tabao
Green color one is called Ku Cai Kueh.
Got if
The carrot cake store at the market also not bad

🙌
I love kuchai kueh (chives) but hardly see it now. No wonder the younger ones don't even get to eat all these kuehs nowadays.
Yeah it's rare and hard to find good ones lol
Saw a black chicken running around probably trying to escape. hahahaha
Zermatt really doesn’t like png kueh. That expression 😂😂😂
Really no nice leh lol
Your English is pretty good! Only thing I notice is you add “uh” at the end of your words sometimes 😂 love your videos though!
Thank you! 🫶
wow didn’t know there’s a pan fry soon kueh
Yes eh. Really good
Hey! Champ! When are u gonna upload the ngoh Hiang video.
I never do any Ngoh Hiang leh lol
Alamak bro. You told me that you will do it. Well, nevermind. Next time whenever you can. I was waiting for that.
Soonkueh or kuchai kueh...which one is ur fav?
Kuchai!
@@ZermattNeo fyi..this stall selling soon kueh is truly using bamboo shoot..unless e owner chge ingredient to turnip..
U can try to eat these in yaowarat bangkok next time..alot of teochew kuehs there r authentic..🤭

Take the rice cake, but fried it, very nice

No star la. The only hawker stall with a star is Tai Hwa

I don’t understand most of what you say. Once you’ve spoken Korean for some time you mix it. I’ve tried, because I like you very much, but I have no clue what is happening in this video. I’ve tried 4 times. I wanted to learn!
Actually, it's not that rare. Soon Kuek was available at Bengawan solo in the past. I used to buy almost each day for breakfast in the 1990s.
In the past
@@poolfans yes. But if you are a fan, you will know where to go to get your fill . Soon Kuek is associated with HAkkas to an extent. Hakka stalls will know soon Kuek outlets . From what I see. A lot of soon Kuek sellers do not make them themselves. There is several central kitchen suppliers. So. It's down to find your favourite taste nearest your daily routes.
Yeah that's in the 90s leh I doubt they sell this now
@@weikwanglee4383Hakka soon kueh is actually known as 笋板 soon ban - same filling but skin texture closer to 算盘子 abacus seeds
There’s a Hakka specialty coffeeshop Ga Lok at syed alwi rd near to Jalan Besar (opposite da Lian noodles) that have all kinds of Hakka style street food in the day except Fridays
@@ngcollin88 thanks. I know this place. Famous for Hakka Yong Tau Fu & Beef balls.
Soon Kuek supplies ain't all day. First come first serve. I do also visit the Hawker Center behind Upper Thomson CC , I think it's Shu Fu, to get my kick.
I think I will try to equal Zermatt 's 90. After all , I do enjoy soon Kuek. An excuse to my family and friends to indulge . They are bound to raise eyeballs, and want a share if I bring 90 home. 🤔😁
bro can u eat 100 plates of butter chicken next video pls
Hahahaha
@@ZermattNeo is that a yes pls
Yeah not easy to find soon kuehs and all anymore let alone really good ones
Right? Lol
Okay...... This is very VERY West......
No rice Soon Kueh hm... I thought original is rice de?
The Pan fried need to chew a lot? Mostly I ate rice ones, didn't know the existence of others. But I think the veggie (Green)should be nice. The only problem is pan fry or steam de better.
6:16 ROAR~!~!
No la soon kueh no rice option lol
Please think of your health.
not needed with the amount of styrofoam plates used for this vid. where's the signature big plate?
Hahaha we thought they used regular plates
So many chives, will it give gas????
