- Through the keyhole look at what its really like to live on a campsite in Spain...We met Jan and Mac, Lynne and Mick who explain the lifestyle they choose to have in the sun instead of the UK. Both couples very happily retired they share with you the costs to do this, comparisons with how far their money goes in Spain compared to the UK, Why they choose Benidorm and a tour of their Hobby VIP 695 and the awning set up with a real wow factor, and a tour of Villasol and the pitches. I couldn't agree more the caravan/motorhome community do look out for each other everyone is friendly and helpful or certainly the ones we have met on our adventures...heres the thing when we lived in Bristol everyone is so busy you hardly know your neighbours in fact i knew my immediate 2 each side and that was it...it really is a camping community and it must be great to have this camaraderie every day x

Hi both not seen you for a while good to see you both again,were hoping to do our Campervan trip next year across all parts of Spain 🇪🇸 we have our own place bricks n mortar in Guardamar but with the COVID the whole year has put us in neutral for the whole year,can’t even go to Spain at the moment without going into 2 week quarenteen . It really gives you food for thought doesn't it? Certainly a solution to making your money/pension go a lot further and what a lifestyle you'd have too. Like Jan said her social life has gone through the roof and not surprisingly with all those fab activities all through the year too. x

It's certainly one to do that's for sure but not everyones cup of tea... We enjoyed it more 2nd time around... Old Town fab but it does have a reputation.. No summertime would never even go there thanks glad you enjoyed anyway xx

I worked in Benidorm 35 years ago and in March we had a blizzard and I think it was the coldest I've ever been in working 8 years in Spain

Great vlog, site looks nice it was interesting to see that some were permanent and others just go over when they can, cheap as chips air fares too.
The permanent plots you now have to buy not just the plot but the caravan and awning pitched on it too they dont just sell the plot on its own. This applies on this site not sure about other sites. I know crazy re the air fares when you think how much it costs to drive and tow down...however we have our dog so itll be this way for now x

Love La Manga would love to stay there, we went on waiting list last Jan for now but nothing available...one day we will stay there. Loved this vlog those campers seemed to be enjoying life .We have visited friends who have wintered there and we were also amazed at the equipment in the awnings but at the time didn't realise they were permanent residential.Mark and Judy what's next on the tourist trail

Stayed on villasol several times great site nice quite and only 15 min walk into town to all the bars and shops ideal for family’s hope to do a long term there some time. In the future Small town not to far away Albir nice for a day out

It's beautiful place to do that. We learnt alot from Alison and Shaun who have just moved here. The rules for residency are very complex as we learnt and acceptance hard to get in some cases good luck xx

The reason we don't do that is cause I can't talk then as I'm clueless with anything that has a plug 😂 or wires... We just vlog about what happens to us hence the security vid we'll be doing because we had attempted break in... We just like to show that if you really want to do something you can... No.... we heard a terrible story off a theft last week in a campsite in France got In through skylight took everything even safe under floor shoes clothes then kicked door out... Noone saw a thing... On a campsite! What a dreadful experience... There are some thieving scumbags around x
I must say in the 25 years I have been caravaning and motor homing been all over France, Spain, Italy, German, Croatia, Austria.. to name a few never seen or had any problems...

Its not everyones cuppa tea but they have a great life and as Mick says their money goes alot furthur than it would in UK...and the weathers better...or not at the moment though x
Hobby’s are 8ft wide, their lovely vans but sadly you couldn’t tow that in the uk with a car/suv due to the length, you would require a commercial vehicle and a category c1e license but are great for seasonal pitches due to the space

Yes if I was staying long term or abroad I very likely would have one, in fact I almost did buy the 620 which can be towed but at the last minute went for something else

I guess the idea of this channel is to help others thinking of doing something similar.
The idea was just to do the channel for fun and for us to look back on in years to come but its just taken off so yes now we do it to help people do the same - when we wanted to do this campsite wardenning there was no reference to do it no info so we decided wed have a go...have meet some fab friends and opened many doors through this crazy idea...we do not make any money from this channel - our choice as we certainly could xx
Hi my family go here every dec my parents go off in there campvan and they go over from nov and then we meet up with them in dec but last year was a no go but hopfully this year we will hopefully be going here to villamore it is so nice there people that live on there are lovley and everyone on there staff are nice and your not far from shop a beach

We went to Saint Malo on holiday, and went to buy a ice cream,from a icecream seller ,and the French women was so rude to us.And we were very polite asking for 4 ice creams,so just goes to show you cant ,paint every one with the same brush.

I own a micro camper - a converted 2002 Renault Kangoo. Do I have to own a big van to stay there or can I stay in my own little van? I do also have a tent should I need extra space but shouldn't be necessary
Hi Laura - Im sure any campsite will allow you on as I know defiantly Los Llanos will. Last year we met a great lady solo traveller called Fiona who also had a converted Renault Kangoo fab little camper...and a tent she pitched at the side for storage. She travelled all over Spain up to Italy and across to Croatia xxx

Only thing straight away that stopped me liking the site would never go any where my dogs aren’t welcome could not imagine a life without my fur babies they make my holidays been without a dog once hated it but great for anyone who don’t have one

Hiya... Long term residential touring pitch are the price that Jan mentioned but there is nothing availible at present... If you mean touring the price is cheaper the longer you stay therefore over 181 nights is 15.50 euros a night... Max stay 6 months touring pitch... Price increases to 34 euros a night in peak summer x

Depends on what you want though. For the same price (or often cheaper), apartments are quieter, cooler & much more secure. The campsites in my opinion are too noisy and overpriced.

£700 for 10 days self catering that's expensive I stayed in the port benidorm for ten days in Feb half board for £220 and that's a four star hotel

Try going on to a campsite in England with a hobby caravan no chance they think traveller straight away and tell you no space the Spanish aren't so shallow all the very best for you're forward journey
Its a shame as the Hobbys are great vans but id be so worried it would be stolen in UK if we had one but certainly wed have one sited in Spain if we ever choose this route in the future...I love the Bailey Willow have you ever come across one? Fab layout but they dont make them anymore as lots of problems and cant be towed in UK but ideal sited in Spain.

It's difficult to wild camp with a twin axle so are plan is to buy a van and Mark will convert it and then we will travel in it all over inland everywhere so much easier but will still keep the caravan x

I'm not sure but there still out there so I guess they did. If you remember our friend Anne who lives out there and did a vlog on her German caravan in 2018 with us... I may ask her for info she's very good at legalities re residency and do a future vlog on how they managed to stay in Denia xx

There is something I just don't understand...
I am considering doing something similar next year - not in Benidorm, probably more around Valencia or Alicante, and I'll be moto camping, but the basic idea is the same.
According to all my research, you cannot live in a camping in Spain for more than 6 months a year, and you cannot get residency there...
The resident status is necessary to have a Spanish medical insurance, Spanish registered vehicle and insurance and so on.
So what I don't get is... How are these people doing to go around that? If I got it right they live there year round - just like I've seen in the "bargain loving Brits" series... Except it's not supposed to be legal. So if there is a solution to that problem I'd love to know what it is :)
Pat and Jan only go for 6 months as they have a home in Bristol ...thats the way to do it legally, they dont have vehicles so does not apply and they have private medical insurance through english bank. What about people who tour for a year on a gap year??
@@gypsysoulsjudymark.escapet7388 ok that's a little different from what I'm planing to do then (leave everything, put my stuff in storage, give the apartment back and just go). According to my research I won't be able to stay in a camping for more than 3 months, that's the time I'll have to find a rental, either long term or even a vacation rental, so I can do the paperwork.
It's up to you how you play it...I Can't say to much but lots dont seem to worry about what your suppose to do and what your not if you get what I'm saying xx
@@gypsysoulsjudymark.escapet7388 actually I would agree with you, except for one thing... If you end up causing an accident on the road you'll be paying all your life. If it weren't for that, I wouldn't care about all the administrative stuff - at least not right away ;)
@@gypsysoulsjudymark.escapet7388 After 3 months should go to police and register in spain legally. after 3 months away from uk consider health care implications and of course e111 no longer valid. just check with gov.uk and dwp. after 186 days then we are looking at tax implications. Mind you many as you say remain illegally and only when having need for medical care feel the pain financially. The NHS is a paid service and by not paying then it is lost to you, notice the postings and warnings in NHS hospitals. Please look at the UK gov websites to understand. Best Wishes from British expat of 13 years.
Post Brexit you could only stay here a maximum of 90 days in a period of 180 days

It's up to you and what you want and like... Not for us but we had subscribers who went there after watching our vlog and they loved it and met others there too if you love busy and flat surfaces it's great not sure now after the pandemic hiw it will be in the future so sad for all businesses xx

If you go to the website itll state tourer price - monthly stays are the best way to stay.
