Something you forgot to mention about GBA snow land was that the most infamous part of the course was fixed in the remake.
Basically the slippy terrain of the course in Super Circuit for some reason caused a violent screen shaking effect almost as if you were driving on Cattle grid. But now in 8dx, the road is smooth so you don’t shake anymore! Which is, fairly obviously, only a positive thing

All of the models for this DLC came from Mario Kart Tour, including the retro track models, the Mii suit models, and the new driver models. With this in mind, here is every single character in Mario Kart Tour that we could've gotten in 8DX over Peachette:

I think that the insane levels of saturation in the colors of the "new" tracks are part of the reason for terrible readability.
I'm in the same boat as you. Played mk8 since release on the WiiU so no biggie for me.
But holy hell is it an awful feel for me and it's people that didn't go ham on mk8 like older folk (my parents)

This video is amazing! I agree with mostly everything you said in this video, also the editing is great. You deserve my sub. Also I think Daisy circuit might be a bit upscaled compared to the original which might be why it feels more boring
Ya a lot of the maps feel like I’m playing a mobile race game. But still a good game!
Much of this analysis was genuinely really well done, if a little antiquated in places.
Adequate praise for tracks that deserve it, short but fair critique for places they fall short (but kept brief, which is really appreciated because of just how many others have talked about the SUPER obvious flaws)
It's always nice to see analysis from people who play at a higher level which is demonstrated well through both your gameplay and your analysis of the more expert-level Wii tracks.
Was a bit disappointed by the lack of mention toward snow land's expert shortcut and I for the LIFE of me can't understand what makes a 'good' tour city track in your eyes.
The fact that you dragged Madrid, Berlin, Amsterdam and Rome through the mud while gushing about Singapore is BAFFLING.
Singapore has NOTHING of variety to offer online races and it's nothing but pretty lights and fountains
Meanwhile Amsterdam is masterfully built into 3 distinct sections including a rural area comparable to Moo Moo Meadows, an underwater section that is both the ONLY one to appear in the city tracks, but I'd also argue the most technically challenging of the game, and finally a beautiful romp through that colorful field of flowers.
Amsterdam Drift is actually one of my favorites
but that is me being bias as i'm a Dutch, in The Netherlands
compared to Yoshi's Island, one of my least favorites
simply because i'm disapointed by it, I expect more from it
Finally someone who dislikes the city tracks as much as I do
The only thing i feel they've forgotten was to add new Battle tracks but other than that yea it was great. The only other thing i would complain about is the visuals of most of the tracks since say GCN Waluigi Stadium, and SNES Bowser's Castle and the two Rainbow Roads were spot on with the visuals matching that of the original tracks before the booster pass but the rest, some more than others, felt very tour like in textures and models, it always bugged me like crazy. The textures felt very plastic-y, like they grabbed it straight from Roblox (seriously the textures are similar to Roblox's plastic texture) and there were just solid colors and simple gradients with lack of detail and variation in everything. Also yea they could've made the city tracks less bland. I personally dont like the way they did the different layouts being different laps, it really threw me off. I was specifically disappointed with Vancouver Velocity as its my favorite of the city tracks. I love the first lap layout but sad when it changed lap 2. They could've done it like Exite Bike Arena where its randomized or had the layouts preset and could be chosen similarly to choosing a different colored Yoshi or between the two Link skins.

I understand the hate towards Sky High Sundae, sure. But why does every youtuber always bring up the railings? Like why do you want it to have collision??? So you can bump into it and lose all ur speed? The spin boosts make it more fun and speedy! Great video, loved the editing 🙃
They just want the fact it gives you a boost to be more obvious. Like every other anti gravity bumper in the game

Those variations that appear for the final lap for some tracks come straight from Tour as well, and so do some other modifications like the underwater part in the Boo's Lake track. And with that ice-cream track, I didn't like that they pretended it was a new Tour track. Overall I'm still pretty disappointed in this DLC. It's so rushed and without much effort. The music is the only thing they actually did do from scratch and with love.

200 cc is not the standad its 150cc, so track not being designed around 200 cc is not really a big issue, most tracks in the game also have some issues on 200cc..

Great video! Personally, I disagree with your opinion on the city courses. I think, aside from a select couple, they’re really fun with Sydney, Berlin, Singapore, and Madrid being some of my new favourite Mario Kart courses (also, it’s a crime you didn’t mention Berlin’s music because it’s such a banger!)

How about you use critical thinking when addressing the Tour cities, it's obvious you only dislike them because they're from Tour, 4:48 and you don't seem to realize that all 48 tracks are ported directly from Tour.
"They feel watered down in design"... despite being highly complex, so that complaint doesn't make sense. And it's a complete skill issue to complain about the alternating laps, I'm good at them so I know this.
6:54 As for your complaint about landmarks feeling too short, each city has like two or three dozen references. Sydney goes into barangaroo nature reserve, luna park, that bridge, etc, this is why each landmark is short. The Sydney Opera House is *not* the only landmark XD
The Tour tracks didn't rob any spots, they weren't gonna give you dlc if it wasn't for porting all 48 directly from Tour.

I'm glad it ended also stop saying the word preserved it literally gives me the cringe reaction if there is one thing you and many people need to know is that Nintendo does not care about preserving at all look at all the titles from dsi shop wii shop eshop ect I can go on and on the only reason so many tour tracks is cause of money nothing else and Nintendo comfirming tour as a main mario kart
If it was because of money, they could’ve charged a lot more for it. For what we got, the price being as low as it is, is pretty astounding. Also, you seem to be a Tour fan yet you don’t seem too happy that they brought over Tour courses? And yes, it clearly is for preservation because once the servers for Tour are closed, the only way you’ll be playing those courses again (aside from one) is through 8DX
