I spent a large portion of my childhood in Hillbrow. Watching the degeneration into what it has become over the years is scary but is also a microcosm of what is taking place throughout South Africa, not just the Cape Flats and Hillbrow but the entire country.
There is no active policing and criminal activity starts at the very top of the country within the government with little to no justice whatsoever. South Africa is a country where crime really does pay.

When I was a teenager, we used to go down a dirt driveway with only one way in and out in Augusta Georgia nicknamed "the monkey hole" down in the ghetto. You just walked up to the guys side window of his house and told him what you wanted, which was only weed or coke back then, none of this crazy stuff that will kill you like nowadays. The people were far more dangerous than the drugs back then!

What is scary to me is that several of these cities are in a supposedly civilised country, the most powerful country in the world. A country which constantly sticks its nose in the business of other countries, countries which dont appear on this list. Maybe they need to get their own house in order.

The solution to these gangs is so simple.
Whats scary to me is that there are so many cities in america now that seem to be heading in this direction. Though these cities have yet to reach the same level of violence and crime as the ones mentioned here, they are definitely heading in that direction fast. Children walking to school have to pretty much trip over people doing drugs on the sidewalks, businesses are being robbed so often that they are being forced to shut down, people are being carjacked and assulted in broad daylight on busy streets, and the lust goes on. I feel that anyone with any common sense left can see that these massive escalation of violent crime is a direct result of elected officials decriminalizing many crimes, refusing to hold criminals accountable for their actions by refusing to prosecute crimes or constantly severly downgrading them, and refusing to keep even repeat offenders off the streets away from innocent residents. These officials claim to be doing these things in the name of " social justice" but how is any of it helping society at all and where is the justice for the victims? In my opinion, if we just continue to go on hiding away and allowing ourselves to be terrorized and victimized by these so called policies, it wont be long before our cities actually do become as dangerous as some of those listed here. What i really cant understand is why the people that have to live in these cities keep voting in these same people who are responsible for the soft on crime policies as i find it hard to believe that anyone would honestly want to live in an area where they are being terrorized by violent criminals and their children are not even safe playing in their own yards bht that appears to be exactly whats happening. Our cities have not deteriorated so far yet that we cant fix this by simply voting these people out and voting in peopke who honestly care about the safety of their citizens and communities. This is all just my own opinion though and i wanted to stand up and speak out as the safety of my loved ones and others in my community is very important to me. Thank you.

In 2011 I was in Greenville, TX at 11pm until 3am their was gun fire in the neighborhood I was in and I set outside and never seen one police vehicle. It's sad when those The people hire and trust for protection are afraid

Acapulco looks alot like Mexico, or Tamalipas. I used to live 10 mins away from the bridge crossing into Mexico, aka Nuevo Laredo. There was a time when it was safe to actually visit. Was a tourist attraction, till the Cartels started to dominate. That changed things drastically. It became a travel at your own risk. I had a friend get mistaken for someone else and nearly costed his life. He just went for a dentist visit.

It is so tedious and annoying having that many criminals around. Do people not want to live a nice peaceful life? I know, someone is going to say that they have to join gangs to survive and not get killed. Yeah, thanks to violent men. The few female gang bosses were literally driven into their positions from being prostitutes for the guys and then working their way up, again, if they didn't want to get killed, they had to become ruthless. They all need a reset.

Used go to a nightclub in Hillbrow called The Summit in the early 2000's when visiting Jo-berg. Went to another club nearby also. Never had a problemm even as the only white man, but God protects children and fools. Amazing places (esp. The Summit) - but not sure I would go now.......
