- Music of John Lodge
When you're swallowing all your pride
Do you need somewhere
A place to hide?
A smile from your face
Where the light comes shining through
All its strength, it came from you
It's lost now all that age before I knew you
Is it that forever is hard to find?
You made me recognize what I'd been leaving far behind
Is it closing in on you like it was on me?
This time I'm saved by the music
Saved by the song we can sing
This time I'm saved by the music
Saved by the song that you bring
When you're following all life's lies
And find its meaning
The truth still hides
Don't cover your face
Let the warmth come flowing through
Welcome dawn, new morning dew
This time I'm saved by the music
Saved by the song we can sing
This time I'm saved by the music
Saved by the song that you bring
When you're swallowing all life's lies...
This time we're saved by the music
Saved by the song we can sing
This time we're saved by the music
Saved by the song that you bring
This time we're saved
The Moody Blues were groundbreaking in many ways and John Lodge and Justin Hayward brought this same spirit of collaboration to Blue Jays. Although Justin Hayward was the most visible member of these bands due to his solo career, it was the very talented John Lodge who penned some of the Moodie's most popular songs, including "Ride My Seesaw", "I'm Just a Singer in a Rock and Roll Band", and their magnificent song, "Candle of Life". He also wrote "Saved by the Music", and while not diminishing Justin Haywards greatness, I hope that people will not overlook the accomplishments of this great singer/songwriter who brought so much to the table.
Justin Hayward and John Lodge, love your music 🎵🎶
Blue Jays was definitely a GREAT album
Some of J&J's BEST writing.....I used to listen to it every Friday.....very good
I'm an Athiest but at times I almost thank God for this MAGNIFICENT MUSIC!!!
Magnificent wherever it came from, saved by this music a long time ago, continuing to inspire.
Atheist simply means without a deity. God is a 15th century English word. Lord also. So what can before? Before those words, others gave it a different name. As one who has struggled, I know, just a bit. So, why can't music be how you see your purpose? That love you have for the Moody's I shared. I never danced at a concert till I saw them. I hid behind a pillar, and DANCED. Joy. Why does it have to have a name? This Source? Isn't it enough to feel joy? GOOD for you!
@@dalekinsey1760 His name is Jehovah. I'm a born again Christian, but I stay far away from churches. They lie
I'm a born again Christian. I dont go to church. Phoney.
@@mpatrickthomas Jehovah has aided me in times of distress. And I am grateful. I have found reassurance and compassion. Many years ago a pastor gave a sermon and I remembered one thing: Jehovah-Jirah. The God who provides. Why that was given to me I cannot say. It has. Given me hope.
They say class is permanent, form is temporary. These guys were the driving force behind the MBs, superb songwriters, musicians, the mix of strings whether with the MNs or BJs. how I wish they had recorded a follow up album. Awesome and superb, I can add no more
Fascinating!
beautiful music fantastic video as well!
Truly, one of the most incredible songs of all time. The ONLY thing I don't like about the song ... is that it Ends!! Such euphoria and uplifting themes throughout the song. It takes you Up, then floats you down... takes you Up Higher, then floats you down again... and takes you Up again... and Up! Incredible.
Bought my vinyl copy in '75 as much for the intriguing artwork. I thought it was just the latest Moody Blues album. What a musical treasure I found! And 'Saved by the Music' was the magnum opus!
Ditto; very much the same path, a treasured album since it's release. The changes in this remarkable song plus it's wonderful words are equalled beautifully by The Two Jays singing.
Love this, the whole album from my youth ❤
Oh Susan ~ the whole story is even better :-) My sister and I were right in front of him and his wife and daughter Emily on a beach on one of our excursions and we let him alone for awhile anyway. We turned around and asked if we could get a photo and he kindly declined but a few hours later found us and said we could get a photo if we wanted. We just about died! LOL. He actually sought us out. Super nice and super sweet man! Love him and Justin and Graeme & Ray too. So glad we went!
Loved this song since about 1975- but this video is FANTASTIC and really does it justice too. too bad this wasn't on MTV back when, but I guess the computer technology wasn't available for most people then.. Love it!
This song just totally "blows me away".
LOVE THIS SONG they have something so special God I love these guys
Very nice video to this gem from my fave 70's album. Well done !!
+Bob Benham 70s ?

"JOHN LODGE:
Bass Force Behind The Moody Blues After being a Christian in rock music for 30 years, Lodge says nothing deters his faith". THAT'S why John was always so nice.....I never met him. John & I used to share smiles from across the stage...and that's why we're SAVED By The Music.....
It's a shame as music is a gift from God.
LOVELY....I WAS JUST LISTENING TO CAT STEVENS "PEACE TRAIN" 🙏😇💖
I have been overwhelmed by the Moody Blues and their offshoots for many years! Perhaps I had this song in mind when I wrote a Poem called "On the Wings of Music" .
On the Wings of Music
Sometimes, memories come to me,
From as far back as 1963,
That came over the radio waves,
On the wings of music,
With melodies bright,
That came in the night,
To bring me delight,
With my eyes shut tight,
And no hint of light.
To my ears, it seemed right,
That music should guide my sight.
Yet, those melodies with wings,
Can only come from the past,
Where there is no present,
Or future to grasp.
And I have since then found,
That the music was never bound,
To any real or firm ground.
What a great freaking song.
I love this . Just beautiful
Frank
just wonderful
Good stuff
Hi, I am playing drums on this track, cheers, Graham Deakin
Hi Graham, are you saying you are the drummer on this song, or played at home on a track?! Love this song. used to play it a lot in High School 1975 11th grade, this on 8 track back then.
Cool
Awesome drumming, Graham! Must have been a blast to record
Graham Deakin I know it is you , I got the album since 1975 and your name and your picture are in it. great album and great musicians. Cheer !
Graham Deakin yeah, cheers man. you're on the whole album right ? other of their solo albums ? who's ?
Thank you for the video. I enjoyed it very much.
Stunning song...incredible video. One of the very best channels here. Inspiring. Thank you.
You're so lucky he's my favorite Moody Blue.
Justin's voice (and song writing abilty) was the easiest to appeal to first impressions. John, it seemed had to work to write his songs and to sing. But over time, his songs and vocals have "gained ground, " as have Ray's (RIP) and Mike's, the latter who unfortunately broke off from the MB.
Indeed, "Isn't life strange?" and how many of us, myself included, after two divorces, now at 68 have ""wished ' to have someone in our hearts?".I have my daughter, and no one else.
Wow this is a cool song :)
This song is awesome. I'm glad I have it.
Seen the blue jays in Southport UK in the 70.s just pure class and the Moody's are not bad either
I'm glad you got a picture. What a wonderful memory. I would loved to go on the cruise but can't afford it plus i'm very afraid of the water. Anyway glad you had a great time. I love them all too. Justin is quite handsome and sexy but John just does it for me. I have seen them in concert and I think John is very underrated as a performer.
This song Rocks More and More I listen to it :-)
I love this video and have played it a few times. I noticed at seven seconds in is a pic of a mountain in the Central Cascades that I've been to the top of--named South Sister. Almost anybody can get to the top of it. I strongly recommend it.
Ya know...you DID do a great job in assmembling this video. I have this album (yes...a vinyl album) and I always liked this song, especially Justin's whaling on that big red Gibson.
ha , stellar !? VID as usual ED , thanks much
The video was superb! I hadn't heard the song before and liked it too. The work you put into the video is very impressive. Great stuff Jeff. :))
video is EX ! WTG man - u r super creative & imaginative ~
Better rocksong packs in fireworks of colors!!!
good work Jeff :-*
Here's BETTER news for us John fans. After all these years I JUST found out he's a Born Again Christian!!!! I always wondered why john was my fave Moody. From wikipediaDOTcom>>"Lodge has spoken on several occasions about his belief as an evangelical Christian, and credits his faith with preventing him from sinking into the dangerous elements of the rock music business".
and god gave me the ability to hit the pitcher who had god giving him the arm---ridiculous. we are stand alone beings--more beautiful
