- Christy went to a matinee of GODZILLA MINUS ONE/MINUS COLOR and has some very enthusiastic, out-of-the-theater thoughts! The Japanese monster movie is even more striking in black and white, but it's only in theaters through Feb. 1, so catch it now while you can. "Godzilla Minus One" was nominated for an Academy Award for best visual effects, so it's a must-see on the big screen in any form. Have you seen the movie? Let us know in the comments!

so is the original G-1 now called Godzilla Minus One Plus Color?
Ha, good point! Is it playing near you?
@@BreakfastAllDay yep, we had a couple screenings this weekend!
Great to see the Oscar nominated Godzilla Minus One (Minus Color) get a 1,516 Theater expansion for a $2.7m 9th wkend, $56m domestic & $105m worldwide on its reported $15m budget!
It's doing incredibly well! Exciting to see.
Saw "Minus Color" today (third time overall for the movie) and continue to marvel at just how great it is. Godzilla seems even more terrifying in black-and-white. The third time around I really noticed how impressive Ryunosuke Kamiki's performance is.
Truly! So tortured and layered. You really feel for him.
My GF has heard me praising this since I saw it and now wants to see it herself. In your opinion should I take her to Minus 1 or Minus Color for her 1st time?
@@khireejohnson9736 Either, really! But this is pretty spectacular, and it feels like it has deeper emotional depth in B/W. Let us know how it goes!
Really hoping both colour and black and white versions are on bluray
Saw it this afternoon. Was amazed at how good it was. Terrific actors, sound, cinematography, special effects were first rate.
It's all so well done, and it's incredible that the budget was reportedly only $15 million.
Saw it again in black and white. It is simply a masterpiece.
Such a different experience in B/W, isn't it?
Saw it yesterday, after seeing the color multiple times. Loved the black and white too. Audience applauded. 👏
How fun! That never happens.
Thanks Christy. I actually saw a matinee of Minus Color and agree 100%. A totally new experience watching this movie. It felt like a throwback to classic black and white movies. And Godzilla looked a lot more menacing.
So great! Glad to hear it.
We saw this version today and it hits sooo hard!!! 🥹
I'll be lucky if they even play it in color in our small town theater. They said they're considering it. The Boy and the Heron was pretty full last week so there's a chance.
That's exciting!
Easily the best Godzilla movie made to date. I think this version might be better than the original. I didn't miss the color at all. The Godzilla in this film was terrifying.
I hope this is shown in theaters here in Spain. Must be a total blast.
Yes! Maybe the link in the description has more info.
Saw it yesterday. There were a few teenage assholes sitting behind me talking, and at one point said “They’re talking jibberish” with mocking accents. Turned around and told them to stop talking, they left 5 minutes later. Spent the rest of the movie just pissed off about it.
A miserable theater experience, but I think I liked the movie overall and found myself ugly crying a few times. Wouldn’t have thought a Godzilla movie would make me cry as much as Inside Out did.
Oh no! Yes, it's a surprisingly emotional experience.
Seeing it tomorrow! Excited for the black and white!
What did you think?
@@BreakfastAllDay I liked it more in Black and White Godzilla looked scarier to me and it really does work with the time period. Doc might just be one of my favorite characters from last year as well.
I saw and it was impressive...it fully encompasses the OG 50s film vibe.
I felt the same way about Logan:Noir and Nightmare Alley B&W.
Those sound really cool too!
Missed it. Timing did not work out. Wished they extended the showing since there aren’t too many movie out now.
i haven’t yet seen the color version.. do you guys think its alright to go see the black and white version first??
That's what I'm doing. The BW gives more drama to the human parts. Ready to now see the Godzilla city carnage is color detail.
Seeing a black and white thumbnail of someone in this day and age is always frightening. I’m so glad she’s OK 😂
All good!
You are such a natural beauty!!!!
My third viewing, but I took my mom and her friend who have never seen a Godzilla movie or a subtitled movie. They both loved it and were very excited.
I like the bnw version better with one exception: I did like the blue color on Godzilla. But I think overall this movie looks even better.
So glad everyone enjoyed it!
Awesome.
It's great
I would have loved it if this video was also in black and white. 😭😭😂
Shoulda thought of that, oh well.
So want to see!!!!🥰
Hope it's playing near you!
Loved this film in colour! Wonder if B&W would appeal to me..
Is this a good way to see it for the first time? I missed this movie's original run.
Really either way is great!
Hi Christy. 👋
Hello 😊
hmmm,... it's interesting to me ... 「Shikishima」is a really ancient name for the country, so when characters in movie say his name, they are literally screaming " Japan, Japan " ... so many references to post-Pacific-War in this movie as well ...
Oh wow, that is so interesting! Thanks for that info.
@@BreakfastAllDay um,... when Shikishima and Hamabe Minami create a family even though they don't know each other, it is really what happened then ...
Great reaction. Without the color makes it feel more realistic.
And more melancholy, too.
Why not remove the color from the video as well. DIsappointed!
Not even sure how to do that 🤷♀️

@@nikosvault??
@@BluePrada Ah yes. Forgot the emojis to kill any misinterpretation.
lol this made me laugh
I saw it today. The black and white version is superior to the color one. See it if you can!
Glad you caught it in time!
I just can't get into B&W movies
Lady get the hell out of the sun. It's not doing you any favors. Also, you don't deserve this film. Have you seen any of the other Godzilla films from Toho? Not the American, but the Japanese ones. I make a bet, not!
