Taking the last two videos and the software just shown, I now show how to easily tie the RSlogix Emulate500 with RSlinx lite and the RSlogix Micro to be a fully working system so you can start programming asap.

after 10 years in Siemens programming I'm now trying to learn AB. this helped a bunch because the course I'm studying says to use this but doesn't tell you how to set it up.

Thank you so much! I got the emulator working and now I can play around with programs at home! We're studying PLCs as part of my electrician training. We have a PLC lab at school, but staff lock the lab at 3pm so playing around in there after class is not an option.

I did this which seemed simpler to me:
1. Open RSLinx and configure the driver as shown.
2. Open RsLogix Emulate500
3. Open RsLogix Micro Starter Lite. Build your program. Compile and then download under the Comms tab and it populated the MicroLogix controller for me RSLinx.
4. I can then run my program straight from RsLogix.
Is this not correct?
Give it shot, I teach this in one of my course but practice helps

This is just for emulation, right? There's no way to use RSLogix Micro Starter Lite to program an actual SLC500 PLC, without a paid license, correct?
Yes, this is an emulator.
There is a free version of emulator for microlite.
I offer that in my course

I can not change the no edits, there is the error to edit a line online, what to do?
You have to be offline to edit using RSlogix Emulate 500.

@@ShaneWelcher right, I have a plc 1200 1762-l40AWA and in online mode he is not in a position to create a new editable line, I took another plc 1100 and got it. this model 1200 he does not give this condition in the edition of online line?

In PLC 5, you need to be offline in emulator or even depending what firmware you have on a controller...meaning an old controller

Is it possible to manipulate inputs with the emulation program?
Through RSLogix Emulate 500 - you can write simulation code to mimic the inputs & control the outputs.
Through RSLogix Emulate 5000 - you can add input & output cards in the emulated PLC rack & toggle them from the emulated PLC rack along with writing simulation code to mimic the inputs & control the outputs.

I was trying to change the elements as you showed, but mine seems locked. Is there a way to unlock it so I can add more elements?
Sounds like you should edit offline then download.
@@ShaneWelcher I meant actually add more inputs. I can edit the elements for bits, timers, etc but for inputs and outputs I'm only given locked 6 elements. Is it the usual?
@@GTwilight14 Yes, just add them offline.
No online data changes.
Also, keep in mind that if you are using a real processor then it is limited to the processor size.
Shane I'm trying to open my program in emulate 500. After, I saved it in rs 500 Micro starter. It keep saying I must compile my program. How do I compile the program.
I am going to make a video on this now on a few options. I would first check your rslogix 500 file and go to the processor status then verify that S:2/4 or S:2/3 is set to zero.
Go to the processor status then change the data type from structured to binary to see these bits.
Also, verify that your setting is right when opening it in RSemulate500.
I assume that you have done everything as I have shown in the video and that you have also tried several different files.
Shane some of the problem was with updating the registers on my computer. Now, when I download. It telling me the processor type is not supported by the emulator.

Can you set a PID in rslogix micro starter lite?
Actually, I think think you can emulate a PID logic control not sure about Microlite for the PID data type
@@ShaneWelcher I have emulate and the rslogix version for micro logix free download. Trying find a video on setting up a pid using that version.

IP address for what, this was an emulator video....am I missing something?
@@ShaneWelcher im a software developer and i would to start developing for PLC and automation , i have the rxlogic micro starter, the rslinx clasic lite and the emulator rx logix emulate 500 , i can write and run plc programs on the emulator, but i would like to connect to it via ip address from a c# app am writing .
