◼Robièi and its lakes at the foot of the Basodino
An alpine landscape made of rock walls and wild nature surrounds the circular hike of Lake Robièi. Let yourself be enchanted by the imposing Basodino glacier: a sparkling white cap that stands out in front of a suggestive play of granite. Admire the perennial snows and the crystals of the path that shine in the sun and savor an excellent “Vallemaggia” cheese, butter and fresh ricotta.From San Carlo in Val Bavona, immersed in an alpine territory characterized by boulders, rock walls and wild nature, the cableway starts that leads to Robiei, the starting point of this circular itinerary. The cable car is undoubtedly the most comfortable and suggestive way to reach Robiei and admire the surrounding landscape suspended in the void, a unique emotion. In just 15 minutes you will reach an altitude of 1900 m in the splendid area of Robiei at the foot of the Basodino glacier, near the dam of the same name, where you can enjoy a magnificent view of the Ticino Alps. The Basodino is the most impressive and important glacier in Ticino: a sparkling white cap that reaches 3273 m. and stands out in front of a grandiose landscape of granite and "gneis".The hiking trail leading to the left bank of Lake Robiei starts from the top station of the cable car. The viewpoint is located on the pass that leads to the road to Lake Bianco. We then descend on the right side, and it is interesting to note how not only the lake and the melting water of the glaciers shine in the sun, but also the crystals on the path: Robiei is in fact known for its wealth of minerals.When you reach the end of the lake, the path deviates to Alpe Lielp, where there are cows, goats and pigs and where an excellent "Vallemaggia" cheese is produced, as well as butter and ricotta. Then continue on a slight slope towards the Basodino hut. Here, paying a little attention, it is possible to observe numerous wild animals such as marmots, ibex and chamois that stop on the ridges.
