Keep believing in it, you'll get there. Bureaucracy is always a pain in these countries and moves slower than a snail. But in the end your perseverance will be rewarded, I am convinced of that. There was an American singer named Ricky Nelson who had a concert at Madison Square Garden in New York City. He was playing his newer songs and his fans were not happy with his concert. They wanted him to play his old songs. Dont give up. I moved to Abruzzo 5 years ago from the US. It is hard with bureaucracy, but patience will be worth it for you. Do not let it get you down. Have you looked into a student visa? There is no age limit. Also a small business visa. Lots of people in Italy have been truly helpful and kind. Best of luck to you both

Try to get a rock rake. It’s a metal rake with short teeth. It will help better to spread stones, gravel, and mortar. It’s rigid so leveling is a lot easier.

I notice that the west facing side of your kitchen shelter gets most of your sun and heat. You might consider some sort of roll up and down screen to block out that summer heat. I’ve used bamboo slatted screens with some success. They block out most of the suns rays while still allowing light and a breeze. Your viewers are living vicariously through your adventures! I hope you can feel the support coming from your audience.

I love how Laura's sense of humour seems similar to Dan's, but in reality it's quite different. You guys are really smart; I love your designs and your no nonsense approach to working. I just love your patio design! I learned a lot from you both in how to prep the ground location of your patio. lay the gravel down, , pack it well, spread the sand, oh! and lay out your stones so that you can eyeball the next stone to use in the fitting. Just incredible !!! I love your channel immensely! Just can't get enough of "The Original Homestead". So you have a pre 1951 barn on your land, but it does not have a pre 1951 kitchen and/or bathroom already installed either in the barn or on the land I'm assuming. So the barn will be registered as an agricultural support building or something else. Are you aware that if you build a kitchen and/or bathroom either in the barn or on the land that you need planning permission from the city camara? And if you build it, you are changing that barn into a permanent dwelling - the day you build the outdoor kitchen will be recognised as the day it was built making it no longer a pre 1951 building , and you will need to re-register it and get a habitation licence from the city camara? If you haven't already done this they can basically make you dismantle everything you have built...

I’ve been watching for a while as I was hoping to do similar and one thing that is always at the forefront is how open you guys are. Whether it’s your lack of knowledge of the task you are undertaking or the personal side of it all. For two people who by their own admission have no experience in what you are doing you are doing a great job and should be very proud. My brother was lucky as he moved to Portugal 10 years ago so didn’t have the same issues you are having with visas but it has meant that my partner, myself and our little one cannot join them easily. Keep doing what you are doing and plugging away you’ll get there in the end. Oh and buy a longer level it will make life a whole lot easier.

Anyways, I am glad you keep working and optimistic. Paperwork s a pain in every single country I ve lived in. Please don t give up on your journey, the two of you are fantastic and lovely. 💚😊. Have you may be considered taking the Portuguese citizenship? I believe all the struggle goes with Brexit and EU laws.
