That bothers me when brands tell you to "just press it back in the pan." Gloss Gods sent me the same note when one of their rather expensive palettes showed up broken, especially since it arrived not especially well padded.
Salem told you to just repress the broken shades? WTF I’ve never tried anything from them and after hearing that I never will. That’s ridiculous and just bad customer service.
Girl klarity said the same to me told me to look up a video on CZcams 😂 the owner did get involved after the fact and sent me one of the broken shades but not all..what can u do lol I loved that brand too but after that I was done.
Good to know about Salem customer service. That stops me from ordering anything. Nomad and Sydney Grace have provided immediate stellar customer service when I had shipping issues. It must be frustrating for brands that have to claim a loss that the carrier is most likely responsible for. 😮
Oh wow so true! My blue shimmer shade came broken also from the Cosmo Anastasia palette. Beauty Bay gave me 40% off. But I felt like that wasn’t enough. Because once a shade breaks it just ruins the palette for me. Probably cause I’m a collector and daughter of a collector and It’s been drilled into my head that cracks and breaks devalue an item.
I already knew of quite a few of these palettes that they would be in this list when I watched during the year. 😅 There have really been so many amazing palettes so the duds really stood out. Thank you for saving us from buying them! 😂❤ My worst palettes of the year are not really bad palettes at all. It just comes down to preference in one case and a bit lower quality than usually by the brand in the other case. Glamite - Chucky: It's just too dark for me and read is SO NOT my colour. I still think it's an incredibly clever release. Oden's Eye - Perfect World Collection, specifically Planet Spirit: I can make them work and Sea Talk is actually still one of my favourite palettes this year. However the shadows in these palettes are much harder to work with than in their other releases. And Planet Spirit just lacks depth for me on top of that - too midrange, so it's mostly a companion palette for me and I prefer to not use companion palettes. All in all I'm still happy with my purchases. 😊
You know I considered putting the Chucky Palette on this list but it is good quality, however the shades were a bit too deep for me. Idk something about it just didn’t inspire me.
If you have a Cosmetics Company Store near you, you can get those Too Faced palettes for 50% off. I live near the one in the Waterloo outlets and they had the Italian Spritz palette. I was tempted but I don't need any more Too Faced eyeshadow. I'd rather buy from indie brands.
I can't believe the Cosmos palette didn't work out for you. That's so sad. It's my "best formula" palette for this year, especially for mattes and honestly one of the best palettes I've ever tried. P. S: merry christmas♡
I didn't have a problem with the quality of the forest heart palette, but it did seem like the orange shimmer (dusk) wasn't full. I also feel like i needed a lighter shade to blend out the pink, orange and purple shades... I consider it a companion palette
Besides Natasha Denona I’ve only purchased indie palettes this year. Much better prices and formulas. Bellabeautebar has become one of my favorites and I just purchased my first Ensley Reign palette. I plan on also picking up the new Ensley Reign palette Tuesday. I haven’t gotten the first one yet but the formulas look amazing so I’m sure they will be as amazing and I’m expecting. Their prices could be better but I love all the Holochromes they add to their palettes.
I hated Nouveau. I tried the new Sultry mini. I like the shimmers. The mattes in Soft Glam were so much better. I haven't used a primer yet though so maybe using a primer will help. I don't usually struggle with mattes for crease work though. If I want an all matte look I do struggle with mattes gripping to my lids. So, when I have issues with mattes in the crease I am disappointed. The onky other brand I've had as much of an issue with is Glamlite.
The ABH cosmos was my favourite palette of the whole year, I got it 25% off as an Xmas present to myself and absolutely love it, the colour story is very much my thing so sad to see that in your list, but I suppose each to their own. I got it in store, and asked the assistant to check it was not broken before buying it as I was aware of that issue. I agree with the others, especially the too faced palettes where the quality is poor, and also the haus labs ones which are such a rip off for just 6 shades. Would rather buy an ND or Pat palette instead if I were to spend on a pricy palette
Thanks for the heads-up on Italian Spritz. I was so tempted. Now I'm glad I didn't buy it. I hate hard pan! Honestly, I won't buy from brands with bad customer service. Good customer service is as important as product quality. Nomad Cosmetics and Lisa Eldridge both have truly amazing customer service. It makes you happy to be their customer. Several indie brands add an insurance fee to orders, to cover damages in transit. But if they give you a hard time after you prove an item was damaged in transit, that's enough for me to never buy from them again. It doesn't matter if their products are great. Last year I had that happen with Klarity. It was a terrible customer service ordeal. That was my second and final order with them. I'm looking forward to Steff's 'Best of 2023'!
That is so unfortunate about your experience with Salem! Ive had nothing but good experience with Forest Heart ❤️ the mattes were so pleasant and one of my personal favorites of the year because it made me notice the brand. I agree with abh though! I only like thw Norvina pro palettes as well

Steff, anything Estee Lauder touches becomes worse. They haven't been able to keep up the quality of any of their acquisitions. Tom Ford, Frederic Malle, Jo Malone...all hit by the Lauder touch, sadly.
Steff, I found out how to make the lighter rainbow in Ketracel to work. I roll my finger into the rainbow, and then I roll it on my eyes, like your getting your finger print done, and it looked nice! On the deeper rainbow, I use a small makeup brush by color.
I do love Cosmos but yes I had to repress my blue shade too, however I really disliked Fall Romance. The mattes where so disappointing not sure if I will buy from them again, we will see. And yes Too Faced has completely lost me, they had something special going with their fall pallets and the last two have been so bad.

glad I skipped on the too faced Italian Spritz palette. I thought the colours were very similar to abh cosmos, so I went with abh, knowing the formula was going to be better than Too Faced.

I always value your opinions Steph. I agree with you on the ABH palettes. My favorite palettes from them is the Norvina palettes too, especially the light purple one. My husband got me that palette for my birthday last year and I love it. By the way, love your hair that color. You can get away with all colors, you are so beautiful. Yes to pretty much everything you said, Steff! I returned the Coamos palette as well as the Italian Spritz and the Maple Syrup Pancakes ones. Too Faced palettes all turn into the same muddy mess on my eyes. I'm sure that's user error, but I won't ship them anymore. I'd rather spend $38 on a Fantasy Cosmetica palette and get tons of compliments than 50 plus on Too Faced. They also have great customer service! Also, what I've been meaning to say - thank you for your thorough reviews. Whenever I'm contemplating a purchase, I check your channel first because chances are you've reviewed it! ❤
I got the Italian Spritz palette when it came out and I just got it back out again to play with it… and I got hard pan on the shimmers 😭😭😭 I never had a problem when I got it… but using it again after a while I was disappointed to find the shimmers be hard panned 😢

Blushes by: LYS and Sephora. Eyeshadow palette by Melt. And I bought more makeup from Juvia's place yesterday. I want the Natasha Denona Yucca palette and that will be it for me for a long time.....lol
Glam ghoul boutique said the same to just press them back. The owner of the brand told me that, so rude. Eventually after a heated email conversation she refunded me. The quality of the product was horrible as well
I haven’t bought any eyeshadows from Too Faced since last year, and that was the pumpkin palette which I got 50% off. I have bought concealer for 50% off. I think they have a great concealer but the eyeshadows are bleh! 😮 They are a huge corporation so they are prone to cut costs for greed. They were good when they were an indie brand. I kept my OG TF palettes just for the nostalgia.
I totally agree with you! It’s a shame bcs aside from their risqué shades names, they seemed to be doing well and producing fun products. Now not so much.

At least in recent years Lady Gaga’s makeup and style has been pretty tame and soft glam so I could see why she makes soft glam and everyday type makeup. I got those palettes but haven’t tried them yet. I had a coupon code for 20% and it was already 50% off so I got them 70% off. Now I’m hesitant to try Lethal cosmetics. I hope they didn’t start to cheapen their formula and cut costs to save money. I’ve seen other brands like Too Faced and UD do that and people notice. They cheapen formulas but the prices stay high. 😂 Thanks for your honesty! ❤
Wow you got an amazing deal on those palettes!! I don’t think Lethal is going down that path, bcs their last palette was pretty good. I think it was just that 2Up collection that maybe they experimented with and it didn’t work out. I’m not sure to be honest.
Ketracel white was a miss for me too. I used the first 3 as highlighter but it just wasn’t my favorite so I never used it. I ended up selling mine. Thankfully I made most of my money back.
Hallo Steff, that always stinks to spend money on something and it's ugh. I felt that way about the novina ABH palettes I decluttered those the new formula works better. Fingers crossed my Italian spritz palette is not hard pan been a hot minute since I used it. I have yet to find a LA colors palette I like.
I just got 2 mini palettes from MAC - they have beautiful packaging, not expensive. I got a tarlette palette which is pretty terrible and surprised as they have good quality usually. The Love palette from ND was criticized but its one of my easy reaches, good shades, and quality.
I know everyone loves them, but... The shimmers in the fairytale fairies and citrus punch palettes from simply posh hard panned so bad they are unusable. I couldn't even repress the shades because all they did was clump together. It's a shame because simply posh has really great color stories
I bought the Haus Lab palettes on at half price and used some Sephora points for a further discount. I really like them. I do like a neutral colour story. I am sorry you had some huge disappointments this year. For me, the worst customer service came from the indie brands. So many new offerings were immediately sold out or put on preorder. Inventory issues are to be expected but to be told two days before shipping that your in stock items were also sold out has left me feeling very frustrated. Getting a refund hasn’t been an issue but I do get the feeling that these smaller businesses are not being run well.
It’s hard to be an indie brand owner bcs typically they carry the burden on their own. I know many that are run single handedly. Even two or three people can get overwhelmed. I’m glad you haven’t had trouble getting a refund when it was necessary. Pls don’t give up on the indie brands, we need to support small business when possible. I appreciate you for doing so 🙏🏻❤️!

I bought the Merry Christmas this year because I missed out on it last year, and I thought it was just meh, the shimmers were nice but the mattes were thin and needed a lot of building up... I'll stick with Blend Bunny, Bella beaute bar and cosmic brushes, they never let me down

I haven’t bought any eyeshadows from Too Faced since last year, and that was the pumpkin palette which I got 50% off. I have bought concealer for 50% off. I think they have a great concealer but the eyeshadows are bleh! 😮 They are a huge corporation so they are prone to cut costs for greed. They were good when they were an indie brand. I kept my OG TF palettes just for the nostalgia.
I totally agree with you! It’s a shame bcs aside from their risqué shades names, they seemed to be doing well and producing fun products. Now not so much.

@@SteffsBeautyStash I bought the lighter more neutral option as I'm 57 and I saw a review that said they are good for those with texture on their eyes.
At least in recent years Lady Gaga’s makeup and style has been pretty tame and soft glam so I could see why she makes soft glam and everyday type makeup. I got those palettes but haven’t tried them yet. I had a coupon code for 20% and it was already 50% off so I got them 70% off.
Now I’m hesitant to try Lethal cosmetics. I hope they didn’t start to cheapen their formula and cut costs to save money. I’ve seen other brands like Too Faced and UD do that and people notice. They cheapen formulas but the prices stay high. 😂

Wow you got an amazing deal on those palettes!! I don’t think Lethal is going down that path, bcs their last palette was pretty good. I think it was just that 2Up collection that maybe they experimented with and it didn’t work out. I’m not sure to be honest.
Ketracel white was a miss for me too. I used the first 3 as highlighter but it just wasn’t my favorite so I never used it. I ended up selling mine. Thankfully I made most of my money back.

Hallo Steff, that always stinks to spend money on something and it's ugh. I felt that way about the novina ABH palettes I decluttered those the new formula works better. Fingers crossed my Italian spritz palette is not hard pan been a hot minute since I used it. I have yet to find a LA colors palette I like.
Yeah and prices on palettes are going up and up, it really stinks when they don't work!

I just got 2 mini palettes from MAC - they have beautiful packaging, not expensive. I got a tarlette palette which is pretty terrible and surprised as they have good quality usually. The Love palette from ND was criticized but its one of my easy reaches, good shades, and quality.
I like the mini Love palette too! I like just about all ND minis.

I know everyone loves them, but... The shimmers in the fairytale fairies and citrus punch palettes from simply posh hard panned so bad they are unusable. I couldn't even repress the shades because all they did was clump together. It's a shame because simply posh has really great color stories

I bought the Haus Lab palettes on at half price and used some Sephora points for a further discount. I really like them. I do like a neutral colour story.
I am sorry you had some huge disappointments this year. For me, the worst customer service came from the indie brands. So many new offerings were immediately sold out or put on preorder. Inventory issues are to be expected but to be told two days before shipping that your in stock items were also sold out has left me feeling very frustrated. Getting a refund hasn’t been an issue but I do get the feeling that these smaller businesses are not being run well.
It’s hard to be an indie brand owner bcs typically they carry the burden on their own. I know many that are run single handedly. Even two or three people can get overwhelmed. I’m glad you haven’t had trouble getting a refund when it was necessary. Pls don’t give up on the indie brands, we need to support small business when possible. I appreciate you for doing so 🙏🏻❤️!
After Too Faced discontinued the Peach face powder, I am just done with them.

I bought the Merry Christmas this year because I missed out on it last year, and I thought it was just meh, the shimmers were nice but the mattes were thin and needed a lot of building up... I'll stick with Blend Bunny, Bella beaute bar and cosmic brushes, they never let me down
Glad I skipped the Ketracil and grabbed the Raider instead. No creams. I have to admit it is pretty flaky and needs a glitter glue.
I hope they discontinue those rainbow pans. I like the shades, but would love them more individually.

My worse pallet was game of thrones by revolution the blues was horrible but luckily it was picked up at TJ Maxx were I only payed 7bucks
Oh no I stay away from MR palettes and their makeup all together unless they release a foundation or concealer that looks interesting

my worst palette is ABH Noveau palette. It is new to me this year and I hoped I didn't gave in to the hype. I will never buy from ABH again.
Yeah I’m staying clear of their releases as well. Unless it’s a Norvina palette, that I will buy.
