Cody, My name is jeffery Littlefield, I am The ambassador At Challenge House # 7 in Hopkinsville Ky. We are a 501C3. I am a full-time volunteer serving inner-city youth. You and your family are an inspiration to me. as A Christian anyone who is willing to freely speak of their faith openly and live accordingly is my kind of folks. I watch your channel daily. I find it funny how people seem to tell you how or what you should do, with over 2 million subscribers, I would not do anything other than what you feel is right. I enjoy the channel just because you are who you are. God Bless
Glad to see this looks like your success hit at perfect timing all that hard work paying off now you can actually take necessary actions to keep your family mostly self sufficient I say it all the time but truly a huge inspiration for me I hope the future doesn’t stomp us out economically or any other way before I can get to a similar place for my family
Thank you Ozz,
You should make an old fashioned water tower similar to what was near train tracks where you could pull a lever and it empties a lot of water at once. Have it elevated and the backup pumps fills it up.
A water tower is a great idea.
His old place had essentially that; I believe the ram pump from the spring fed a water buffalo that was 20ft or so off the ground, and then that was his garden and fruit tree water source.
@@armedappalachian water buffalo😂
"..where you could pull a lever and it empties a lot of water at once." Like, say...a spigot?
Off grid fire skid re-loader
I just wanted to thank you for that surprise buzzer sound at 4:52 just as Jeriah was plugging in the cord. I hardly jumped at all, especially as that's a bit difficult when seated.
Not that it matters for your application but whenever you setup your solar panels its best to make them adjustable from summer to winter angles. Ive been living off grid strictly on solar for many years now and I've learned its a required process. Love your videos. Im very fortunate to have a really healthy flowing artesian well 10 feet from my home
Does Jeriah have a homestead of his own? Would be fun to see some projects there too! Maybe get some sponsors to upgrade his life!
I miss the old Wranglerstar videos. Not for clicks or views but for knowledge and experience. Uncle Cody had your back, if you followed to the T it's right. Insight is still there but somethings missing.
100%
it prolly has something to do with the fact that most folks won't buy a cat skid steer, excavator or $6000 solar water pump just because they can.
Love to have a setup like this one day. Living in the UK finding any land let alone at an affordable price is difficult. Perhaps Scotland or making the big move to Canada/the USA will be the only way. Thanks for a great video again Cody.
Scotland probably best. Canada prices not sure of but concerned where headed. USA. Prices are horrendous. And sadly, things are seemingly changing badly
Property does seem to be going down very slightly most places. Strange years
The UK is so overpopulated and lets 600k more in each year, no chance I'm afraid!
Come to Africa my friend 😅 Its ruff but its nice
@@catriamou Canada land prices even compared to Scotland are incredible and much more lenient for development. However whisky production in Scotland might tip the favour... 😁
@@MrOzzy281 Massively. Only chance is to get somewhere remote as all villages, towns and cities are being developed at an incredible rate.
Nice little solar setup! If you ever think about adding more solar pannel in the futur i suggest that you look into Bifacial solar pannels. They catch light from both side. They work best in the north since they will catch the light under then that is reflecten from th ground especially from the snow in the winter.
Cody is going to end up rejecting this modern pump and replacing it with an old one, then make a video about how you should stick with the traditional
Here's a fyi. If you put carnauba wax on your solar panels. It will help keep your snow from sticking to your solar panels. Or Rain-X
some of my best memories as a kid was being a hotshot with the Maine forestry service out of brownville jct Maine. atown of 2500 tops.theforest ranger took awesome care of us and taught us correctly and more than fighting fires. about being a good person in society as well as putting out lightning strikes and railroad fires which is mostly what we did. earned money, knowledge and respect. God bless Jim Downey. took us in his home and fed us and treated us like adults as long as we did our part. a 2nd father to many kids .
Looks like you can put your panels on the roof of your shed, looks like you shed might shade your panels, plus you can put more panels in, enough to charge your tools, and maybe large enough for a freezer adding to your back up.
Thanks for the buzzer - I'm ten years younger now ;)
Did I miss something or did this have nothing to do with home security?
The home security part is referenced to if the power grid goes down for any amount of time then you've got a secure site source of water during those times
A real "big boy" mount would be 3" 4130 seamless, wall thickness 0.12, steel tube.
Also, use LiFePo battteries and an appropriate battery management system. They are more expensive than AGM batteries but they can be more deeply discharged without damage and are good for ten times the discharge/charge cycles than AGM batteries. They are also lighter in weight but that is not a consideration for a fixed ground installation.
Speaking of grounds of a different sort, that deep well casing makes a helluva grounding rod but you'll have to tie it into the electrical service ground.
The amount of work that’s going into the premises is unreal great job 👏
Anyone can do it , if you got an open check book 🤣🤣🤣
Thanks for educating me on so many things!
I would go with LifePo4 vs AGM. You will get full AH rating out of the lithium as well as more life cycles. Would have better efficiency/performance overall.
The electric pump actuator works like the ones used to operate Wurlitzer band organ pressure and vacuum bellows. Supplies wind to blow the pipes and vacuum to the roll tracker bar and bell s.
You are lucky to have Jariah. Good help like that is almost impossible to find!
Looking forward to seeing what types of shed you come up with for all that electrical equipment.
Ya, 12 VDC when you need 24 won't cut it. Nice build. God Bless Brother!
I appreciate you not concealing your battery mistakes. Will you go AGM or Lithium? Leosh makes an AGM with great reserve that you could get 1300 cycles out of if you treat it right.
You should look in to battle born battery. They are lithium and you can discharge them down almost to 0 with out damage. very popular in the RV solar community.
As I understand it, the lithium ion batteries do not do well in cold environments, therefore they require being heated. (Battle Mountain makes heated batteries)
Something went wrong earlier today as this video was marked as "private" and I was not allowed to watch it. Is youtube giving you some issues?
Seen that too
I saw that video and it did the same thing
It was released to members only, last night.
same
Also!!!
you could probably use a lithium iron phosphate battery and never have to change it out (thousands of cycles). You could even place a small, low wattage heater in the battery compartment if the winter months are otherwise too cold for the battery using a $20 retile heating pad on a thermal switch, providing a great way to give you a safe space to upgrade to LiFePO4
Lead or AGM will work just fine, as long as you do not have to deep cycle them too much, keep them topped off with the solar charger. Sure LiFePO4 with a BMS is nice but much more expensive... and the conventional batteries are easy to get, I recycle old car/truck batteries after they are a years old by using them on our PV installations...
I was just thinking that if this was paired with a cistern you would be all set. The Simplepump could be used to fill a large cistern. Then a smaller 12/24 volt pump could be used to keep water pressure wherever you want.
Looks like your nearby tree is going to cast shade on the panels in the evening as the set-up is pretty close to such a large tree?
Just a suggestion, if you were to run the batteries in parallel (keep at 12v), you’ll want to pull the positive from one battery, and negative from the other to help keep it balanced. Just for future endeavors.
Would this be connected to a raised tank so you would have gravity flow like at your old place or would it be better to just turn on as you needed to use it.
Could this be plumbed to your pressure tank? I am no plumber, I would assume it would require some sort of check valves. It would be neat if you could run a smaller generator to all the service pressure tank and water heater and skip having the generator run the conventional well pump itself.
Maybe a lithium iron phosphate battery for the pump over AGM. Quadruple the lifespan of AGM with many of the same cold weather benefits. Best to find one with a built in heater, for charging in freezing weather (fine to discharge in sub-32f but not to charge).
LOL 'Yeah, 220, 221 ... whatever it takes.' 👍
@Wranglerstar you should get a sun tracker that will make the solar panels always be facing the sun.
sun trackers add a level of complexity and maintenance you can avoid by just adding one or two extra pannels, pannels are so cheap these days trackers make less and less sense...
@@ttkddry yeah but having a sun tracker with your solar panels can make you look like a professional homeowner, also having a sun track with your solar panels are just a cool idea
@@BrennenDarner a professional homeowner is lazy and stingy: he wants things to be simple and robust and prefers a cheap solution, sun trackers are neither :-)
@@ttkddry if I've learned anything from the almighty professional homeowner is don't be afraid to do something that might be hard and learn something new :)
If you added a small water storage tank 55 gallon plastic type so at night you would have a small water backup using either pressure or better yet gravity feed. No,power needed.
Put a pressure tank in your pump shack with a pressure switch. Just like you would a traditional house well.
Very nice setup you have for a water pump.
Hey brother yesterday I tried watching this and right when you got to the steel mounting brackets part the video said like private only or something weird just letting you know solar rocks
That's very nice setup, the pump looks miniature oil well pump technology
Nice set up
Is that big tree right next to them gonna shade the solar panels?
Great job gentlemen. God bless.
Great looking setup there!
tidy job. Was wondering what the black pipe with the white cover is coming out of the ground along side of the well? Thank you.
Ok I’m not seeing what was wrong there. Wouldn’t 2 12volt batteries in series would be 24volts? Parallel would be 12?
How do you protect the linkage in the winter with snow and ice?
Are you going to run drip or sprinklers off this? Would you do a battery test video on AGMs vs the lithium iron phosphate batteries?
It's one of many perfect solutions to a back up system.
please don't go AGM, do the right thing and get LiFePO4 Cells (LFP), yes they are little more but you don't have to deal with replacing them every few years and they charge much faster during the day compared to lead/AGM and in the end after 3+ years will be cheaper.
wasn't there enough room in that pipe to have both the manual and solar extractors simultaneously? I just don't see the point to all the work of setting the manual pump just to remove it unless it was just to make sure it worked. before storage. Nevermind I wrote that before the 4:20 mark where I see it's just the handle that has been replaced by an electric pumping thingy lol.
Well done.
If I were building a solar system for off grid/post apocalypse independence, I'd want it EMP/solar flare proof. Can't help but wonder if a wind back up might be a good idea?
Nice sharing Vidio 👍 thanks thanks for sharing..! Always sucsess ✋ greeting from Indonesian traditional gold prospecting 🇲🇨⚒️⚒️✋👍👍👍
Such a nice system!
Excellent!
Separate those panels with a few pieces of tractor tires. Having them close together is a recipe for problems.
went it is all figure out, i may buy! and better Pannels
Jeriah is the real professional homeowner!!
I have a feeling you've just stepped across the line from professional homeowner to off-grid hunter-gatherer. Where did you get those 300 w solar panels though?
When I saw your first battery configuration I was like "uhhhhhh that's strange" LOL
It's nice when things workout without problems
Really nice setup. It would be very helpful in most emergency situations. But SHTF ... It is too reliant on electrical and mechanical parts that wouldn't be easy to replace. Now if you have spares of key parts on hand, that is completely different. But if your home is water restricted, the old try and true low tech methods are your best friend.
What’s with the neck naner? I don’t get it
Nice work .
Love the projects you do.. just curious how you keep the mice out? I live in a rural area as well and everything I build the mice move in.
Take care
You gotta have some heads of ranch security.... BCD (Barn cat division) that dont just stay in the barn.
Mice is one of several reasons I decided not enclose the studs on my shop. I’ve seen too many rodent infested shops because of inaccessible crevices. Maybe with spray foam insulation it’s not an issue? Idk
Cool setup
That is slick!!!
Is it storm safe?
Looking weak
that stainless hardware is just 😍😍
Keep up the good work and great content.
Good videos , you remind me of my farther. Lose the 🧣 scarf. Like more information on Jack , Sweet little girl and the head of the house , Ms W
Why did the last video get deleted?
Could you tell me why you roll your pants up on the cuff, in the old days kids would do this so they could unroll as the they grew. Thanks
You know you've made it when your doing outside chores in iron heart ❤️
Hey Cody did the town make u build ur new shop across the property or did u guys choose to?
We chose to,
To avoid wind, why not make berms and screw solar panels into the 45 degree south facing berm? Yes it takes dirt but some places are nuff above water table can groove a field with 10ft wide south facing grooves?.
Lol come up to Canada and see the size of the solar panels on homesteads there
Those are babys

Armaflex 5.56 with 30 round magazine.
dose this go on your existing well?
Yes, you can add to an existing
@@wranglerstar you should get a Sun Tracker they'll make your solar panels face the Sun so then you can get more power throughout the day.
@@wranglerstar thank you
nice system but i think really not cheap
You probably know this, but don't forget you want the array pointed at true south and not magnetic south. It wouldn't be the end of the world if you had it at magnetic south.. it would just mean it starts charging earlier or later during the day.
Keep the hand pump. Because you know. Electrical fail. And repair parts may end up being in short supply coming soon.
You've got no shortage of water on this property
You dont need agm's.
Boy probly should have built the shed before installing the panel. Don't want to block out the sun
why can't it rotation on axes, on two axes to follow the sun get the most??
😊
Professional home owners sometimes have to do things twice- or more. 😳😄
Batts in parallel vs series is the difference between 12 and 24 volts lol
You need a water tower!
Canada cold beyond belief
❤
My first response to the title.. "3 days to shoot something in the face?" xD
So the batteries are supposed to be in series after all. You had them in parallel at the beginning. Bottom line folks, watch the entire video 😂.
