Great video!! I have a 998 and love it. Get you some updated springs used for the up-armored upfit and that will solve your problem for hauling more weight.
I always appreciate your commitment to utility. This episode along with your discussion on electrical generation on a previous episode were very informative. It may not be of great interest to the rest of your following, but I’d be interested in seeing the entirety of your water system and distribution and how that integrates into the management of your cow and wildlife herds.
Thank you and thanks for watching!
Another good vlog , TY n keep warm out there !!!
Thanks! Will do!
I love watching your videos! Totally different life than my family. Find it so interesting. You guys do lots of REALLY hard work, that’s for sure. I’m a mom stay at home mom of 4, my husband is a pastor, and we have a cat. 😂 I know how to ride horses, but ranchers we are not! Thank you for sharing your life. I get tired and sore just watching you, and I’m not lazy. 😓
Hi, Jason. Thank you for the video.

The heater, "yeah you might freeze to death" 🤣🤣🤣
So down around Lubbock we were part of that massive blizzard Christmas 2015. Dumped freaking 20 inches on us over three days. Dinky nearby town we were living in had one of these hummers for the PD to run around in bad weather or photo ops or whatever they do with it. Hubs took our 2002 Bravada he did a switched 4x4 conversion on and was pulling folks outta the ditches right alongside that hummer and that was before we got the wench and he built the front bumper to hold it. Lotta what you guys do with them is skill and our PD didn't have it. No reason that top heavy not near as wide standing basically trail blazer but with heated seats should outdo a hummer. I was one of 10 people out of 85 that made it work that week cuz I had that suv and I don't drive like a dumbass. At least the heater works in mine. 🤣🤣
Thanks for sharing that site. Looking around and they have generators too which is something we're still working on. Last time a storm tore down half the power lines in town, like 2 weeks ago, we fired that same old Bravada up, pulled it up to the garage on the house and ran an extension cord from the inverter we installed to my deep freezers. Hubs even plugged in my coffeepot the next morning since I forgot to setup a jar to cold brew overnight for us when the power went down. That's when ya know ya got a good one... honey, my play toy suv made you coffee... I knew there was a reason we kept paying insurance and registration on that dumb thing. #worthit 😄👍🏻
Get rugged radios intercoms. They made a huge difference for me and my family.
Thanks!
1986 to 1993 humvees are A1 chassis, 6.2 diesel, TH400 transmission, 7700 LB GVW
1994 and up are A2 chassis, 10.300LB GVW 6.5 diesel and 4l80e transmission, ( depending on assigned duty it was made for )
the newer humvees for sale are M1123. Etc Those are 12.500 LB chassis and axles GEP Diesel engines.
My M1123 is listed as 10,300 on govplanet, I saw someone else say its 12,500, is it really a 12,500 or 10,300?
I have 92 m998 6.2L 3speed trans from govplanet. It is titled for highway use. Every state is different on licensing process. There a blast to have, I live in Florida and take turns driving it and my Jeep on the beach! 👍🏻
That is awesome!
cows will definitely do number on your trucks and 4 wheelers
In the late 80’s, I was trained as an instructor driver on the HMMWV. I did however get one stuck, twice. Both times had to be pulled out by an M1 tank at Fort Polk La. it was driver error though. No fault of the equipment.
Hah! Cool! Thanks for your service!
Yes Sir... I'm not sure of the changes you need to make but you can register a HMMWV here in Texas...
I've got them stuck a few times. Once on a flight line in 8 inch's of snow and another in a desert during the rainy season 🤠. Would love to see a video of your equipment shed.
Wow! Thanks for watching!
Love the trip hopper idea for the ranch. What did you do for seats? Where did you get those?
New Hummer cushions. You can get them pretty cheap.
Since the engines are based on the commercial GMC engine, there is a couple after-market suppliers that sell turbo kits for a HMMWV. If the internet forums are to be believed, then the turbo really helps with the MPG.
I've only bought one thing off of GovPlanet before and the "fees" on the purchase were almost a third of the purchase cost. And despite it only being single pallet of cargo; all of the shipping quotes I got would have covered the cost of a 40 ft shipping container being delivered.
We picked ours up and trailered them home.
i believe your humvees have the chevy 400 transmission
Great stuff.... Definitely the best UTILITY VEHICLE. Motor will run 25 years...
Add "Lucas" oil enhancer to your engine and differentials to eliminate wear and high heat.
Will keep lubrication in the top of engine. They make a transmission additive...real good in keeping things cooler
Thank you!
I bought a HMMWV with the "Helmet Roof" which it looks like a SUV. I also bought the "pickup style cab" but after using the Helmet roof I really like it for the storage. plus all your tools and such is dry. However I dumped alot of money into it. new half shafts new seals new shocks pitman arm idler arm but I am happy with it
Cool!
We pull a gooseneck a lot.
I have always wanted to replace my 73 CJ5 with a Hummer. I am going on Gov Planet and get a couple. Just need them to haul fencing material and Hay Trailer. Might put a Gooseneck hitch in one and air bag suspension. COURT ADJOUNED !!!!
I used to drive rock bands in PREVOST MOTOR COACHES,i'll drive that van,if you pick my name HEFFNERS METAL RUBY,for the 2 y/o horse....of coarse i want that MENDOTA RANCH cap...
South dakota let's you legalize them as long as you sign an affidavit saying you have all working lights and a horn on them.
Dang...just paid more than double for a new side by side, lol. Great review of an awesome truck!
Err, you’re not pulling no hay, horse or cattle trailers off a sxs. Best you can do is get yours and your three buddies’ fat asses there.
Thanks 👍
I just won a M1123 for $6,800 non running. An identical unit was $15,100 as a running unit.
@@MyHMMWVaddiction good deal
@@NAubc LOL
I believe it’s a 6.2 and 6.5 Detroit, most of the 6.5s are center mount turbo. I own a 96 6.5 Detroit GMC 2500. At our ranch we run the military surplus 6.2 square body’s. 93 they went to the 6.5. In 2000 Detroit was sold and GM kept the designs and kept building them under AM General
Thanks!
i’ve got the only gurkha military grade armor level 7 for sale in usa it’s new sitting in storage if your interested
Whaaaaat?! Why you selling the van?! That thing is awesome LOL, you were so excited to get it done! Gotta know, man, gotta know.
We want something a little bigger. We loved our living quarters horse trailer and being able to have our pickup with us was great.
What’s your thoughts on Texas power company and their power situation ?
It was a mess. My thoughts are quit subsidizing everything. If it can't stand on it's own, can it.
The hummer/humvee has always been a dream vehicle of mine. I farm and ranch in Nebraska and have thought a humvee would make a great work vehicle but I've been nervous about the towing capacity of an independent suspension vehicle. What size of trailer do you put on them? How much weight?
about a 20' trailer is about all it is good for on the ranch
@@themendotaranch is that because of power, suspension, or because of terrain not allowing a longer trailer?
Right on. Thanks for sharing. Cmon ranch hands dont tear shit up.lol lol...CAN YOU TELL ME WHAT TYPE OF HAT YOU ARE WEARING?
American. Thanks for watching!
Heck Yeh! Military hummers! Oohrah! 🙌🤠🇺🇸Marine MoM here and Texas girl! Jennifer LaPlante Crawford at 7R Ranch! 😂CLONING LAB! Can I come see CLONING LAB? 🙌😂🤠
Awesome! Thanks for watching!
Need to add transmission fluid to the fuel in the 6 .2 saves the pump
Thanks!
How's finding parts? Is there a decent aftermarket set up for these things?
Commented before I watched his piece about the parts. Forgot to delete the comment afterwards
it’s a hmmwv. it has a 6.5 or a 6.2. 6.5 should have a turbo. transmission is not made by allison but made by gm. it’s a th400 on the 6.5 trucks. the wheels are head locks, but taking the “run flat” out makes them no longer bead locks.
also, xtreme diesel sells the glow plug controller for like 75 bucks
Good to know! Thanks!
Matt Carriker at @Demolitionranch or @Off the Ranch had a street legal Humvee. He would drop his kids off at school in it. Lol. He lives in TX too. Now has a 5ton.
Pay me 🖐🏽 I’ll drive it.
I drove one in the army and I never got stuck
Nice! Thank you for your service!
I have seen them with a Cummins engine
What’s a Cummings engine?
I would drive that van around for y’all! Free advertisement for y’all and I wouldn’t have to pay for a hotel room while driving it around. Sweet deal for everyone. Are you paying for the gas too? I’m in Texas just outside of San Antonio. Im retired and willing to travel.
Can you just walk around and advertise us via a t shirt?
Do you go and get them after purchase.?
We picked them up from the bases they were bought from.
Love them, but can't buy one.
how much for the truck/van?
$145,000
it makes a hummer look like a toy
You were joking about the fuel efficiency right…..? ??
Where did you go to college? You seem to be pretty mechanically inclined
College is overrated! Hah! I have liked to mechanic since I was a little kid.
It’s a 6.5 not a 6.4
pay me to drive the van
School's out
Yes the come road legal with air bag and all.. I think there’s 2or 3 different ones..
Reliability suck on humvee
