    Left hand makes an "L."
I used to direct plays, and stage right and stage left are opposite for the people out in the house. I was so used to giving directions to actors that I swapped my right and left for *years.*

I’ve been wondering how to do that c turn pivot thing backwards! This helps a lot - if i hit the rink tonight, ill give this a try. Any video plans on backwards to forwards transitions ? Beginner -> Intermediate type deal ? Also love your energy as always

under toe meat = the ball of your foot :)

Hey so I’ve been trying the open book, and while I can transition I’m not sure if I’m doing it right…
So I’m taking my weak foot, lifting it up slightly, and twisting my ankle 180 so it’s rolling backwards. Good so far.
Then lift up my ankle, but not toe, on my strong foot and shift my weight over my weak side (along with the shoulder twist you show off with your hands). Then my strong foot heel naturally pivots and both feet are backwards. Finish with my weight over the center and regain my balance.
Is this even close to right? I think in another video you said you don’t like to teach moves that require you lifting your feet, so I feel like I’m doing something entirely different than the open book lol.

You can totally lift! If that’s easiest for you! I teach beginners sticky because they have trouble lifting but once you’re good with lifting and you like the way your transition looks, rock with it. It’s right if it gets you to where you need to go. You can always smooth stuff out if it’s a little wonky.
Do you like the way it looks and feels?

@@DasiaDoesIt glad to hear! Yeah it feels surprisingly smooth once I’ve done a few warm ups, although my balance isn’t 100% consistent yet. Now I just need to get more comfortable going backwards so I can keep practicing the transition at higher (or really medium) speed.
