I was born and raised in Rarotonga, left when I was 19 and having lived away from home for so long a vid like this really makes me appreciate my island home a whole lot more. Thank You RoyaleTakitumu, beautiful footage. Te Atua te aroa! xox
Just spent two weeks in Rarotonga (January 2014). I now question why it has taken me seventy-one years to find paradise. I will return, I must return. Once visited never to be forgotten.
Robin Hutchinson I agree. I went there in High School with my Hawaiian language class. It was a cultural exchange. We went there first, made amazing friends who really became like family to us, then a few months later they came here to Hawaii. Everything there is beautiful. The people, the language and culture (and how strong they are in it), the land, even the food is unforgettable. What's also really cool is that because its part of Polynesia their language is so similar to Hawaiian. When they spoke their language I could understand alot of what they said. Basically the best trip I have ever been on, and possibly the best experience of my life so far. I too will never forget and hope to go back someday.
This video is so fantastic and every time I watch it it makes me determined to want to return back to the Cook Islands. Hopefully in August 2012 for the wedding of the century I will be back there.
@elinach77yahoo..Yes, I was born and raised in the Cook Islands..i do fly back home for holidays.. because its beautiful, peaceful & quiet..i have friends and families living there.. now i live in New Zealand, its a beautiful country too..
We got married there in 2004 - a perfect place! You will never see bluer water and whiter sand than here. The people are wonderful and accommodating. A must go if you want to relax!!
I just spent a week in beautiful Rarotonga and it was the best experience of my life! Being of Polynesian descent (NZ Maori) I felt very at home while enjoying the many fantastic tourist attractions. The beaches are stunning and the locals are amazingly friendly. Captain Tama's Lagoon Cruise and Te Vara Nui Overwater Dinner Show are definitely must-do's. Rarotonga is an incredibley cultural holiday destination and I loved every minute I was there. I would go back in a heartbeat!
To anyone who wants to go here... I can only say GO! I have been to many places and the cook islands is one of most amazing places I have ever been. It is not so commercialized and you still feel a sense that you are in a remote place but with conveniences of the modern world.
2 weeks to go and we will set our feet on the ground of Rarotonga. After 21 trips to Thailand it's time to discover something new.. Yes you can compare our winter in Finland just now -22 degrees Centigrade and a lot of snow. YES!! it's going to be tour Rarotonga-Aitutaki-Atiu for 3 weeks. By the way if you want to see turles I got them on video in Thailand... All the best to you all...
Tour is done: Rarotonga - Aitutaki - Atiu, just perfect 3 weeks. You might want to check my video "Aitutaki TakeOff". Wow seems to be a real winter in Winnipeg. Hope you have summer there too
And expensive! They have to ship everything in and that isn't cheap. Nice place to visit for a week or two but I certainly wouldn't or couldn't imagine living there.
@kimiora27 Are you from there? And why do you leave? Its difficult the life in my country but we still have the sun and our blue sea! I dont know where do you leave now, but If you can go back to that paradise

Jesus created these islands, and He wants you to be with Him for eternity...He made these places for you because He loves you and if you want to be with Him in a place like that for eternity, you need to repent of all your sins, build a relationship with Jesus, and put Him first in your life.
Mike Christiaan I'm sorry, but it wasn't Jesus (your so called fairy tale) it was from no disturbance of waste and trash being thrown in the water and locals taking care of the island. Now since tourist are drawn there will be tons of trash.
@Maj33y Please elaborate on what you mean by the people they are showing on the video??? if you dont like my people for who they are dont ever come to the Cook Islands!

LOL! He *Discovered* them! Cook was attacked and killed on February 14th, 1779 ( at age 50) in Kealakekua Bay, Kingdom of Hawaii in a confrontation with Hawaiians during his third exploratory voyage Kealakekua Bay, Kingdom of Hawaii.. After a month's stay, Cook attempted to resume his exploration of the Northern Pacific. Shortly after leaving Hawaii Island, however, the Resolution's foremast broke, so the ships returned to Kealakekua Bay for repairs. Tensions rose, and a number of quarrels broke out between the Europeans and Hawaiians. An unknown group took one of Cook's small boats. The evening when the cutter was taken, the people had become "insolent" even with threats to fire upon them. He attempted to kidnap and ransom the King of Hawaiʻi, Kalaniʻōpuʻu. The following day, February 14th, Cook marched through the village to retrieve the King. Cook took the King by his hand and led him willingly away. One of the king's favorite wives and two chiefs approached the group as they were heading to boats. They pleaded with the king not to go until he stopped and sat where he stood. An old Kahuna (priest), chanting rapidly while holding out a coconut, attempted to distract Cook and his men as a large crowd began to form at the shore. The king began to understand that Cook was his enemy. As Cook turned his back to help launch the boats, he was struck on the head by the villagers and then stabbed to death as he fell on his face in the surf. The esteem which the islanders nevertheless held for Cook caused them to retain his body. Following their practice of the time, they prepared his body with funerary rituals usually reserved for the chiefs and highest elders of the society. His body was disemboweled, baked to facilitate removal of the flesh, and the bones were carefully cleaned for preservation as religious icons in a fashion somewhat reminiscent of the treatment of European saints in the Middle Ages. Some of Cook's remains, thus preserved, were eventually returned to his crew for a formal burial at sea.

Although connected to New Zealand, it is a self governing country with the freedom to live and express it own culture and language.
