  • Join @Ewanwilson2315 as I give Singapore Airlines business class a second chance on board their A350 from Singapore to Christchurch New Zealand . They maybe rated as one of the best airline in the world but the last time I flew them I felt they are a little overrated has anything changed?

    Thank you for giving your honest review on Singapore Airlines.
    I have flown on their Business class regionally (to Thailand and Japan). I have to say, the cabin crew attentiveness... can sometimes be a hit or miss but generally speaking, its always good.
    As for the seating you experience, I have to say, these seats are actually older as mentioned by 1 of the viewers. But in all honesty, I prefer this seating design to the current one even though its a little awkward when you sleep.
    The Krisflyer lounge... at Changi Airport Terminal 3, can get a little too crowded at the peak times but it is still the better than Terminal 2.

    Thanks for the review, I have used SQ for years and recently thought the same!! hence swapping to using Qatar. Might even give ANZ a go after watching your premium economy review.

      hey Craig, thanks for your feedback. Qatar in my opinion is the best but Air New Zealand's premium economy product is outstanding and I think it’s going to get even better with the refurbished cabins coming out late this year. safe travels.

    Thanks for the honest reviews. I always love watching reviews about airlines and just like the simplicity of the video. You have to try A380 business class next time. It is the newer design and I love it. You don't have to get up to make the chair recline till it is flat.

    Those seats aren't new at all. Your plane was from 2019, so it's almost 5 years old.
    The seat itself is significantly older, it first came in the B777 in 2013.
    By the way, I would have ordered lobster for breakfast. 😁

      thanks for all the information. I’m a little embarrassed that I got that wrong. It was the crew who told me they were the new seats with Scottish leather. also felt a bit of an idiot I forgot to pre-order my meal and if I’d known they had lobster I would’ve been all in!!! again thanks for reaching out safe travels

    Those seats are not new. I'm not sure exactly which version it is, but if you have to "flip over" the back part to make the bed, then it is the 2013 version. If you don't, then it is the 2017 version. In other words these seats have been around for about 7 years already. And yes, I believe Brisbane and Perth flights are considered regional, unlike Sydney & Melbourne.

    • @ewanwilson2315
      @ewanwilson2315  Před 2 měsíci

      Thanks for the information. Sorry I git that wrong its was the crew that told me they were new but I should have checked.
      The crew definitely had to flip them over .
      So has SQ not introduced any new seats for seven years?

    • @The-axman
      @The-axman Před 2 měsíci +1

      @@ewanwilson2315 There has been (more than one) newer versions of the regional seats, but I can't keep track :) . Maybe it was newly installed in that aircraft itself. But if they had to flip them over then it is the older 2013 version. Which makes me wonder why not the 2017 version? I don't know, maybe that is only for the A380?

    Thanks Ewan. Just had two flights on Singapore Airlines. Premium Economy Auckland, Singapore, Munich.We where very disappointed. Checkin, Boarding.ok. Meals great, inflight entetaiment great, but the cabin crew on both flights where disorganized. The wine selection was poor. Iam hoping for a better trip home. I have to say I have traveled Premium Economy on Qantas and the beat Singapore hands down.

Who’s told me they were really disappointed with Singapore Airlines premium economy. hopefully, the crew on the way back will be much better organised. safe travels and have a great flight back. I flew SIA from Melbourne to Newark via Singapore return late last year. I didn’t find them to be anything better than other airlines apart from food. Staff were friendly but not overly attentive. Lounge at SIA was good but was very crowded and therefore very noisy and not very relaxing. Wouldn’t rush back to flying with them again and didn’t really know what all the fuss was with them.

    Definitely overrated. Home from Europe trip three weeks ago . Luggage not transferred by Air France at CDG so no clothes in Singapore.
    Transfer of luggage Air France error but the protocol is the Airline that should have delivered is responsible. Singapore Airlines was absolutely useless. Dnata was helpful eventuality. We knew where baggage was as we had Apple AirTag. Despite over a week of advising precisely where luggage was nothing happened till the 12th day !!! We were business class all the way . Food on last leg was inedible. Neither of us ate on return home from Singapore. We thought QANTAS was bad !!

      Wow that is disappointing!!! Like you I really struggle to understand Airlines not being able to resolve bag issues when passengers can actually specifically locate where they are!! Really disappointing to hear about the meal!
      Welcome home I hope the balance of the holiday or business trip was good.

      hey David, thanks for your thoughts. reviews by their nature can be a little subjective that’s why I try to make sure to fly a carrier twice I flew Singapore Airlines twice in a space of two weeks. On the first flight, I was pretty critical. It was the regional business class seat. Which isn’t the greatest and there was an issue over the meal on the second flight I thought they were very good and said so again but the seat isn’t in the same league as Qatar or Emirates. I said I wouldn’t hesitate flying Singapore Airlines again. some of the comments I got. I was surprised at how many people were also disappointed with Singapore Airlines but mostly about the seat. it truly is a very competitive industry sector with lots of very good options. I think you can end up flying a carrier with a perception of how good they will be and once you’ve got that perception you’re easily disappointed if it doesn’t live up to your full expectations.
      safe travels.

      Hey Richard thanks for the message. business class was about 60 % full premium economy was full and the back of the plane looked about 70 % full.
      they operate daily. I bought the tickets using Air Canada Aeroplan points. in cash terms, it costs about $1100 NZD.

    Singapore Airlines is overrated: Other than the food which is ok, Planes are no longer new, no longer well-maintained, coach service is carried out with a grudge now evident even in Business class. Planes frequently late to take off, and those ticket prices! Pure greed, arrogance and complacency. If Emirates and Qatar are allowed direct flights from SIN-LHR, I will never take SQ even again and let them suffer.

    • @ewanwilson2315
      @ewanwilson2315  Před 2 měsíci +1

      You’re right, they can be very arrogant and a little robotic. And they are not in the class of Qatar orEmirates. And I avoid Singapore as a departure point as the airfares are incredibly high. I usually try to depart out of Bangkok or Manila. If I’m looking for a business class deal to Europe or the Americas. actually, I found Colombo Sri Lanka incredibly affordable as aGateway. Really appreciate your thoughts and insight.

      To be fair, their fleet is still really new. The backbone is the A350-900 which are on average 4-5 years old, with 2 years of that being grounded during covid, and they have a sizeable fleet of 787-10s along with a few new A380s to replace their older ones. The only 'old' plane they fly is the 777-300ER, but even these aren't that old compared to other airlines and have had cabin refreshes.
