Pacific missile Range, 1968 I was third crewmember A3 which was developing the below the horizon phoenix missile top-secret that I was electronic, countermeasures crewmember what I thought was it was a seriously dangerous airplane if you didn’t pay attention, especially the Bombay doors that opened and closed in a second and a half.
Good and sad... Good to see Coyote again and sad to see the last flight of the Skywarrior. Coyote flew EA-3s in VQ-1 when I was flying EP-3s and I later moved on as an ERA-3B EWO.
Can't believe they would just scrap that beauty! Glad they rescued it! Anytime they want to get rid of some more old Navy aircraft I have a big backyard and will be glad to have here!! lol
Was a 3rd crew member Pt Mugu, a true Blessing. My Father flew Avengers, Pacific WW2, Navy Cross, D. flying metal, a true officer and gentleman. Assigned ETN 2 electronic warfare Building 58 Mugu...
Great set of interviews regarding a great, historic aircraft. Glad to hear the last flying Skywarrior wasn't melted down into an aluminum ingot. Thanks for sharing!
Raytheon was too cheap to foot the bill for the flight to the museum so they were going to scrap it instead?!? The Navy gave them the plane in the first place! Anything for a buck... Great job to the museum and the Skywarrior Foundation for saving this grand ol’ bird!
Raytheon paid a good chunk of change to get the Whidbey Whale to NAS Whidbey Whale. Raytheon is a "for profit" company. I would look to the US Navy and why they didn't foot the bill for the last A-3 Skywarrior to be flown to the NAVY museum.

The "Flight" seems to have been missed in this video
Great work gentlemen.

Nice video so happy this whale made to a museum instead of the scrap yard. It's too bad we didn't get to see her land and taxi...😢
we flew A-3s at VAQ135...I had the opportunity to do cross countries etc.
Terrific aircraft...
Awesome video, awesome plane, and awesome professionals working with and on that plane!

Anthony McFarland was my division officer on uss forrestal cv 59 V1. He was the best. Miss him.
HE GOT ME IN FROM V-1 TO V-O DIV IN MY LAST 2 YRS ABROAD. IT WAS GREAT WORKING WITH HIM.
