Real trailer or fake trailer, it doesn't really matter... there's absolutely no way in hell this pointless sequel can ever reproduce the magic of the first film.
I can count on one hand the amount of times during my life that I have walked out of the movie theater absolutely amazed and blown away by what I had just saw, and Gladiator was one of them. That movie was as close to cinematic perfection as you could get. From storyline...cinematography... musical score all the way to set design and wardrobe....totally flawless. I would dare to say one of the best films in the last 25 years.
It's one of those movies that no matter how many times I've seen it, if I'm scrolling through the TV and it's playing somewhere, I watch it.

First off, calling this sequel "pointless" is a hugely unfair insult to Ridley Scott. The guy is a master filmmaker, he's 85 years old and still working his ass off, and and he doesn't waste his time making irrelevant or bad movies. Even his most flawed films are hugely intelligent and entertaining. Secondly, there is more than sufficient richness and drama in Roman history to craft hundreds of compelling movies, so finding historical material in which to ground the plot of a sequel to "Gladiator" is not that difficult. Thirdly, it's silly to compare this movie to the original. That movie came out almost a quarter-century ago and it can't be duplicated. This sequel intelligently follows the adventures of Lucius, who was featured in the first "Gladiator" movie and who actually received a fair amount of screen time. Making Lucius the hero is a smart creative decision, and, there will be more than ample dramatic material to craft a narrative that honors the legacy of the first film, while standing on its own as a compelling historical action-drama. The return of Derek Jacobi, Connie Nielsen and Djimon Hounsou is worth the price of admission, alone. Throw Denzel Washington into the mix, plus, Paul Mescal as the hero, and, the ingredients are here for an excellent movie.

This trailer may be fake but Gladiator 2 is REAL. It's scheduled for release Thanksgiving 2024. If delays look for it Christmas 2024. Personally I liked a rumored wild script that would have included Russell Crowe and be partly set in the after life after his death.

I loved the original Gladiator for its concept, style, and awesome performances from everyone. I didn’t get any hint of that from the nice table read voice overs. No one distinctive, even Denzel who we haven’t seen for a while. Who cares about Gladiators with Rome in decline?
