- Brave by Sara Bareilles is featured in Frenemies, the ninth episode of Season Five. It is sung by Rachel and Santana.
Santana and Rachel are excited as they're trying on her dresses for the photo shoot they are going to do for the New York Magazine when the song starts. Santana imagines Rachel posing for the photos with the Ziegfield Girls while they sing and Santana is shown being make up. When the song ends she returns to reality and realizes Rachel is asking her to get dressed.

All the people comparing Lea and Naya's voices as if they're in anyway comparable. Sure, they both *can* sing pop songs, but Naya has a voice fit more for the genre where as Lea has a voice fit more for theatre. Regardless, stunning cover, both of them did amazing, considering I still listen to this almost religiously 4 years on.
I just think they cant say "Lea is better then Naya" or vice versa, their voices are just individual and I love both of them
I personally think Naya has more flexibility than Lea.
It's said that Satana can do Rachel's "Don't rain on my parade", but Rachel can't do "Valerie"
That's not saying one is better, but one has more flexibility.
@@Blackdragon99omfg But Santana never did Rachel's "Don't Rain on My Parade". In Santana's version the key was toned down and it was sung in a pop style.
Neither of them is more versatile than the other. Naya's downfall is ballads and Broadway (not that she is bad but Lea does it better). Lea's downfall is pop (again, not that she is bad but Naya would typically do this genre better than her... Depends on the song to be honest though). Like it goes both ways and I am tired of people pretending that this isn't the case.
And "Valerie" is not a vocally challenging song. Lea would've done great with the song just not as good as Naya did.

I love how in high school Santana and Rachel were like mortal enemies. but all the names she gave Rachel was like that's how the world is sweetie i'm just trying to toughin' you up. Then when their in their adult life it's like i'm doing to help you still but you'll get rewarded with a few compliments as a good job.

The effect of this song during the performance was the interesting, I mean, when you just listen you don't think it's good but when you watch the show, the music takes other level. Of course you can't compare this with the original by Sara Bareilles, but it reached the point for what it was intended. I liked it.
I commented roughly this same point on the video for Glee's "You can't always get what you want". I agree, the situations the songs work in are just as important as how the song is sang

I listened to this version before I watched it play out it the show, and I loved it. It's an awesome duet between Lea and Naya. But when I saw the episode I was disappointed how they used it, almost like it was just thrown in.

I heard this song in glee episode for first. Then, I heard this song from Sara Bareilles. The Sara Bareilles version sounds good, but not as great as this version. Moreover, the video for Sara Bareilles version is absolutely terrible. Glee version definitely wins :)

Lea is totally imitating Nayas velvety singing style here. She doesnt sound remotely like her usual self when she sings duets with Naya and IMO, benefits the songs because I dont really like Rachels voice. The high notes sound so round and smooth instead of screetchy. And again, it only happens when she sings ith Naya.
