Only the true legends show the sheet music score instead of a midi piano roll
Well, both have their justification as they serve different purposes.
TheCluelessComposer what is the purpose of midi. Ninety nine percent of people who watch those can’t read sheet music and are therefore not advanced enough to play it.
@@midnightmusic1087 well for me MIDI is a tool that helps me to learn the piano ...
I cant learn with midi..only sheet helps me
@@tpasecretzz2703 I learn it off the sheet, but the midi app and my keyboard help me perfecting it.
Thank you! You’re the only one that doesn’t play this super fast. Mr. Joplin always stated in his compositions “not fast.”
when i was 8 years old my dad told me if i could play this piece will buy me a classical grand piano .... 10 years later i found this piece again and i learned it in one day ... we just ordered the piano
I am pretty sure i need the whole summer for this piece😂
@@guygoldstein3739 me too!
This actually made me feel emotional. Well done matey!! You go!
Are you sure it isn't the easier version?
What an amazing dad. I am jealous
This still slaps 120 years later.

Crisp and clean. One of my favourites.
I've never heard of this song, i'll go watch a vd cover of it nw
@@salimaaqid5011 Now go watch The Sting.
damn this song brings back memories i dont have
_Someone put it into words_
HI SISTER

Dean Winchester love your username
Book Butterfly lmao thanks. i’m a fake supernatural fan lol
As someone who is learning the piano (and currently struggling) I respect people that have mastered it like this, it’s really an accomplishment.
This is nothing, you should watch him go play some Bach fugues.. that'll really blow your mind.
@@DangerRussDayZ6533 I wouldnt say nothing, this ist definitely not a beginner piece, especially Not in this arrangement
This makes me want to start a silent bar fight
😆 funny
Even funnier.
Fantastically written
You're funny 😆😄
Where you get killed by silent guns and women cry you theatrically in mute
I like Scott Joplin, the rags are so pretty
you real mozart?????????????????????????????????????????????????????!*
Same he's my favorite pianist
Salima Aqid did you really just say that to mozart
@@cam3nW No Mozart is an ancien pianist he's dead i can't say that to him
Salima Aqid oh yeah? Look at who made that comment..
My piano students love to play the simplified version of this song. When I want to motivate the younger kids I teach the version on Alfred Adult All in one book. We use this link when we want to listen. Thank you so much
That's so great!! Good luck with your students :)
I learned the simplified version as a kid but later I wondered why my teacher never showed me the original one, it would have been possible.
It's amazing how perfectly played this is.
Practice, Practice, practice..;-)
You have a very delicate touch in your playing. I love it!
Inspiring! My ten year old is playing this piece in simplified version, thank you so much to show him one day he needs to accomplish this full version!
Here in Brazil (I'm in Rio de Janeiro) we have a composer and pianist like Scott Joplin: Ernesto Nazareth. If you hear any ragtime made by Nazareth in fact you'll love and will appreciate this compositions!
Mal conhecia! Obrigado por compartilhar, companheiro. Grande abraço.
The second and fourth strains of this are the real masterpiece, the fourth in particular is one of the more sentimental things in ragtime.
You make it look so easy! Love your: elephants, piano playing, music choices and the crisp sound of that piano.
Bravo!
This is a must learn for anyone who takes the piano seriously. Great songs always stand the test of time.
Such a good one, thus one is
Easy winner is another favorite of mine
When you have small hands and there are so many octaves.... Hands don't fail me now!!
11:47 I’m so glad I found a simpler version. Tiny hands here too.
I'm young and my hands are super tiny and i find some difficulty while playing hard songs.
Oh, man. I LOVE your dynamics throughout the piece. They're perfectly timed and have the perfect shifts in intensity. Whenever I'm good enough to tackle this piece, I'll use your interpretation as my go-to standard.
Grazie grazie grazie. Bella interpretazione , giusta velocità e giusto tocco. Ed alla fine arriva la lacrima . Che emozione . Saluti dall' Italia
Thank you so much for all you show us . You give as happy in our life .
Awesome Paul. As always. Would like to see you performance of La Campanella.
You do realize that is supposedly one of the hardest pieces in the world. Ever made
@@vedhadas4238 probably why he said it
Def why i said it
Oh sorry then
Vedha Das it’s refreshing to see someone apologizing for what they say in CZcams comments 👍🏽
Nice playing Paul, I grew up in a family of piano players and I defected to the guitar as my instrument of choice. But to this day I love hearing good piano music and yours certainly is very very good. A joy to listen to and to play along with. Never learned this song on guitar but thanks to you I have an opportunity to now. Thanks for the inspiration! :)
So amazing watching your left hand movement. 😀
This is just so delightful to listen and watch.
I love this channel❤the pieces you play are always perfect👏👏👏keep it up☺
Feels like I'm walking into the Saloon. Whiskey on the rocks!
Historical note: This type music was relegated to the saloon because its composers were black and not allowed to play in the big concert halls of the time. Rag Time music had a more respected following in Europe by the European composers than it had in America with its silly Jim Crow laws. History kind of repeated itself 50 years later when many blues artists went to Europe and found a huge following...that later became the British Invasion.
Rocks ?????? Surly you jest !!!!!
@@howardwayne3974 I think he must be one of those woke flakes lol
No ice, only whiskey
Flawless playing. Great job. Thanks for sharing.
Really very helpful seeing the sheet alongside you playing! Really beautiful!
Paul is so amazing! I spend more time on this channel than any other on CZcams. Blessings to you and your family from deep in the heart of Texas.
It is pleasant to see you play with so much ease.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS VIDEO AND FOR THE FREE MUSIC SHEET. HOPE TO WATCH MORE VIDEOS FROM YOU.. ALL THE BEST!
I like this slower pace. Going to download it - when I get a new ink cartridge for my printer. Thank you for uploading 🙂
This is my dream to play this beautiful music. I am from Russia , 60 year old. Self learning.
Same for me, 42 year old Chicago
Natalia, I'm a piano teacher and I play this song. if you want to learn to play this and other songs, contact me on my email: pedro.professordepiano@gmail.com
Same for me, 45 from Italy...self learning and hopeless
my whole chilhood is back with this. Thank you!
excellent thanks... I'm just picking up the music again after about 30 years - and was unfamiliar with the last 2 repeated sections... your exact and dynamic playing really shows off this piece well!
This, does put a smile on my face.
Awesome to see this played with such relaxed hands.
Like we wouldn't notice that Db chromatic bass note replacing the stock C maj in the head :) Nicely done!
Thankyou so much finally someone who plays it at the right speed! 😊
Mis ojos están clavados en tu asombrosa forma de tocar el piano. Es increíble y sé que continuarás con este estilo todos los días de tu vida. Gracias Michael. Dios te bendiga.
What I love about this recording is how respectable the tempo is. A lot of people think you should play ragtime as fast as possible because it’s “impressive”. It makes it sound tacky and sloppy. Good work!
Many thanks for your video! My son and I tried playing this piece together and it was a lot of fun!
What a great work you made
Awesome! I have to learn this piece atm. The video helped a lot. Thx!
Wow it a very busy full version of the entertainer but i really enjoyed it. Thanks for sharing 👏👏😀😀
Красота неимоверная! Браво исполнителю!
One of my favourite piano pieces of all time
Very well played. And with music sheet following - it's a great educational video.
Who wouldn't llike this??? This is a masterpiece!
Love this thank you Paul ❤️
BEST VERSION EVER OF THIS TIMELESS CLASSIC!!! HE IS A MASTER...ONLY THE MASTERS MAKE APPEAR VERY HARD TO PLAY SONGS, AS IF THEY WERE VERY EASY TO PERFORM!!!
Wow, thats entertainment for you. I can listen to this all day. Very well played & now its my turn. Thank you for sharing it with me. 👏👏😀😀
49 years ago I was playing this and the "Maple Leaf"....I've never let the "Maple Leaf" go, but this one I have, so must revisit and commit to memory again! Have never tackled "Solace" and "Easy Winners" so they'll be next!! Thanks for posting and God Bless!
Good luck sir and have fun 🔥
Ah I love playing the entertainer and the maple leaf rag 🍁 on the piano, fab playing by Paul Barton, greetings from wales uk 😀

Beautifully played, Well done.
@Paul Barton
This version youre playing here sounds so well it helped bring me back to deeeep practice.
Downloaded a tutorial for it. Once Again, Thank You for your educational videos, including all the ones which show your wrist motions ,hand shapes and your ease of finger gestures.
In this rendition, Im particulary interested or drawn to your Left Hand movements.
Your LH is kind of hypnotic as it swings in circular motion (if theres a term for that?)

Paul it's a beautiful Performance on a lovely composition. Thank you ✨🌠
This is my favorite piano piece of Scott Joplin he's actually my favorite pianist ever he's realy great i've been dreamed to be a pianist like him his piano pieces are great and the entertainer is the best bettween them .
You'll get there with patience and practice!
Clair de Lune is my goal
Now the curtain is going up
The Entertainer is taking a bow
Does a dance step and sings a song
Even gets all the audience to sing along
Yes he knows just what he must do
Knows how to bring down the house when he's through
Snappy patter and jokes, he knows what pleases the folks
The Entertainer, the star of the show
It was in vaudeville that he was on the bill
With all the singers, dancers, acrobats, and clowns
There was a dancing bear, even a dog act there
And a comedian who never let 'em down
But when he came on to do his favorite song
He really wowed them in the cities and the towns
They came from near and far
To see the vaudeville star
The Entertainer
Now the curtain is going down
On the Entertainer, the artist, the pro
He was put on this Earth
To bring us laughter and mirth
The Entertainer, the star of the show
what the😭😭
pretty nice! I can come back to this to check your fingerings so thank you!!
Com a ajuda do seu vídeo consegui aprender essa música em um mês, não fiz o mesmo dedilhado, mas em muitos momentos me orientou.
Damn it I wish I could still play this. I knew the whole song but didn’t practice for months afterwards and I ended up forgetting the whole thing. Practice the piano kids!
Epic bruh moment
That’s actually same for me too
Oh no.. I better keep practicing it everyday so I don't forget it then..

Beautiful
Straight talent man.
When you need to find old-timey comedy music, this is what you are looking for
Nice playing, I enjoyed it.
Well done! Perfect tempo, nice clarity, without sacrificing the playfulness of this one. It reminds me of “The Easy Winners” - both are rare Joplin compositions of pure carefree joyousness without a hint of sadness or regret. I imagine Joplin wrote them during a happy uncomplicated time in his life, having found love, recognition, and a measure of wealth. But Joplin's nature was not given to endless sunshine.
Your performance of this one is as good as I've heard. Much better than Rifkin's, which is idiosyncratically slow (however, I generally view Rifkin as the gold standard of Joplin players).
Both you and Rifkin feel the need to accent the A♭ (bar 18) in the descending bassline at the end of the first strain. I don't like this at all. That note is so delicious in part because it is so far out of the key; it stands out on its own. If anything, it should be 𝘶𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘳emphasized.
I wouldn't be surprised if he was just sight reading this piece, or played it over once or twice before recording.
I don’t mean to rain on your parade, but the king of ragtime didn’t enjoy a whole lot of carefree uncomplicated times in his life. As an African American living in the reconstruction era life was not easy, despite being a prolific musician. Despite record breaking sales he had continuous financial challenges and died relatively young of syphilis.
@@sstroh32 he literally said that this and Easy Winners were the only songs he wrote while in joyful times
I have an LP of Joplin's ragtimes recorded by James Levine. I used to like it a lot, but your interpretation is delightful!
It sounds so goooood!
Thank you so much! You make me an happy mean aged man!
Very good... Sounds good.. !!! Excelent performance... !!!
I love this song
This rocks. Scott Joplin was a genius and the US lucky to have such a talented BAME composer.
Damn! Just discovered the version I learned so hard is a simplified one ... !
Awesome sir!!!💖💖
I like the music
The music is beautiful
Excellent.
thanks, Paul
I used to play this when I was in the fine arts school! Now, Im studying psychology... I miss those days!
for those that might benefit from your studies, thank you. Study hard. don't stop listening to and looking upon art that is well done. Your assignment for today is to close your eyes and listen to music that gives you comfort.
