Classic Vegas for Breakfast: The Peppermill & Ellis Island

- Here at Las Vegas Inside & Out, we do love us some history...and this week we went and visited two historic and perhaps lesser-known spots that have plenty of it, along with some great breakfast as well. On the northern end of the Strip, we visit the Peppermill, which opened its doors in 1972, and its fabulous Fireside Lounge. And then, down south a bit, behind the Strip, we stop in at the Village Pub inside the Ellis Island Casino & Brewery, in business since 1967. Both of them have great food and great vintage Vegas history!

How lucky , to live in a place with so many choices to pick from. I continue to watch your videos because you( Paula) and Dale express kindness that comes across in your approach to your subscribers. Your relaxing and fun videos give me a chance to slow down and look for ways to live like Paula and Dale. Take care and remember when moving watch out when lifting boxes and stuf like that.

Many thanks for covering Bootleggers last week. I am from North Carolina and up until Covid 19 traveled at least twice a month mostly domestically by some international. Vegas was the and hopefully will again be a regular stop three or four times yearly. If associated with a major conference I often like to get out of the downtown area and stay off-site and not too far from the airport at a small hotel I believe Embassy suites or another Hilton property which is nearly adjacent to bootleggers. I always make it a goal to visit that restaurant. It is straight out of the 60s beautifully restored, terrific food, great band type music similar to that of the day of Sinatra and the rest of them. Bootleggers as family-run for many years. I look forward to visiting again when I get out to Vegas and this time bring my wife so she can have the pleasure of spending an evening there as well. For all the readers have not been at this restaurant please suggest you try. It is terrific. Your North Carolina friend.

Peppermill brings back wonderful memories. For years we stayed at Riviera while my husband played in pool tournaments! A quick walk over to Peppermill for a wonderful meal, A $2 margarita at the Western Ho. Lots of walking the strip. We always stayed for 9 days to enjoy the tournaments, the pros and to be out and about on the strip. Thank you for bringing back such wonderful memories! I hope the packing and move is going smooth.
This was a fantastic video! When I see you come on on Sunday I stop everything and watch. This was classic! Peppermill is awesome and when I do get back to Vegas I will definitely be going to Ellis Island! Can’ t wait to see you back together out and about all over Vegas!

Hello Dale and Paula it's Monday night a 11:30 pm. Got in late from our drive from South Weber, Utah. Wife (Sue) and I tried Ellis (Village Pub) I had the prime rib rib french dip and my wife had the Reuben. Was GREAT! THANKS FOR THE REVIEW we really enjoyed their food. Everything at the Aria was closed so we took the trip over no regrets here. Be well be safe. Ciao..

You two remember the Vegas we do! Resorts world may be fantastic but I miss the Stardust! That was our go to when in Vegas. And that iconic sign! We loved the villa (the old side). But we will love the new too!

I used to go to Stardust too. They had a breakfast buffet for like $7.00.
Yes Paula , we have heard of the Peppermill We stayed at the Reno Peppermill. Pat and Mickie and Pam .Mickie plays guitar and jammed at Larrys Greenfront Pioneer Square .I did too .Summertime has never sounded like that .Omg and Pride and Joy .7 guitar players on stage .!!! OMG IS RITE .Love the Red Couch .Love the RED CASINO .REMIND me of the host of those days Tim Turner with the Charles White Band longest running jam ever !! Captain Kevan sat outside drinking Gatoraid . LOLHe brought his Canoe , and a nursery rhyme book .He knew "Mary Had a Little Lamb.Little Boy Blue And 3 Blind Mice . .WE had left our mother Laura in North Vancouver .She was visiting Grace Clarke her best friend a big band singer .Driving back to Vancouver we got lost .Should of taken the canoe .WESTWARD HO .Any tapes hanging around Dale .???? Micro brews .Another dj Big C from Great Falls Montana was "CAPTAIN BOB "at the Colorado Belle. LAUGHLIN .HE was in many movies .one particularly was VEGAS VACATION the guy who said "He won the car !Papa digeorgio " .Djs are a lot of fun to be around .Right Paula ?!!! . Big C was a AM RADIO KQDI ..FM NO STATIC AT ALL .CHEERS !!! LOL OMG LOL .TWINS CALGARY What a great vlog .!!!
Off the menu at Ellis Island, at dinner, is the steak. It used to include one free beer, but I think that has long passed. One of the last value prime ribs are also available there. When a 20 oz beer was a buck, this was a favorite hang out. I think it's 3.50 now, but still a great value. It also has one of the best rib joints in town.
Ellis is my go to place when in Vegas... great food& great service..
As of two weeks ago, Ellis Island has become my new favorite goto... I had the Brisket Sandwich(to die for) along with a few $3 stouts. This place is great...

Last time I was at Ellis Island was back in 1999.. I'm glad it's still going well..
Thanks for bringing these "overlooked" gems to our attention. Interesting that neither of you had never been to Ellis Island, considering the length of time you have lived in Vegas. I think we are all "guilty" of not visiting places in our own backyard because "we can go there anytime."
I go to a Ellis Island at LEAST once every Vegas visit-always trust the locals when it comes to the best places, and the inexpensive steak dinner deal is amazing!

and myself went to the Peppermill
back in the day. When vegas was "Vegas". I remember the waitresses wearing red mini skirts
and I think they had the white boots too. Our waitress was older
but she had the figure to wear the mini skirt. Awesome.
We loved our experience at the Peppermill.
My next opportunity to go to Vegas I will make it s priority to stop in.

Excellent 👍👍👍👍 Excellent 👍👍👍👍 Excellent 👍👍👍👍 Excellent 👌 video even though I made 43 big ones on January 28 I'm just old fashioned I hope to visit those two places when I come in October I plan to come Holloween weekend I want to spend one night at Bally's and the other four Nights at the Elqutez hotel I haven't been since 1998 I used to go with my mother to Las Vegas sometimes and in 2018 I lost her 💔💔💔💔 it still hurts very very much I was 20 in 1998 she and I loved the Rivera hotel that's were I stayed at in 1989 I was 11 then her and my stepdad would go to Vegas in 1980 1981 1983 1985 1986 and in 1988 I always loved Vegas sience the age of two in 1980 I just loved it what can I say Vegas always been bitter sweet
never been to peppermill but it is now on my list. Ellis Island is the place we always go for dinner while we visit. We also like Battista's hole in the wall. Great food and free wine with dinner ;]

We tried Ellis Island on my last trip and it certainly was good value for your money. I was also given some sort of “senior” card which not only provided an additional discount but made me chuckle to be seen as a senior as the qualifying age was much younger than in the UK.
Ellis Island rocks! The BBQ is phenomenal and the Front Yard is a great place to hang out with friends and family. Was there 2/26-3/1 this year.
Wow classic video coming to Vegas in April at Bellagio been coming several times a year for past 25 years never knew about Ellis Island will check it out

We love Ellis Island for the steak special, the BBQ and beer. All are great values We like to play video poker there. When we want to splurge on breakfast we go to Bouchon in the Venetian. The hotel is so beautiful and the food is excellent.
After thirty-something trips to LAS (I've lost count), I have NEVER visited either Peppermill or Ellis Island. Oh, I knew of them but, as so many other "buket-listers" never got to them. As ever, the photography is top-notch and the details of each was eye opening. Best to both - S

My first year in Vegas we went to the stardust. But didn't make it to westward ho the next time we went westward ho was gone. Miss the old places especially the Riviera

I live Ellis Island! What a great place! I went there and played the Dean Martin Slot, Won $100 and had a free steak meal November of 2020. Great place!
Love your breakfast videos. Been to Vegas many times but you're showing places that we would never see as some are off the beaten track etc. Can't wait to get back and hit some of these places. Keep those brekkie videos a comin.....

I love the breakfast series. I've been to the Peppermill and Ellis Island is always on my places to visit but haven't gotten around to it. Sundance Grill at Silverton is also one of our favorite breakfast spots.

Great video! I tried to go to the Peppermill for breakfast on Fourth of July last year and it was so busy! But that night we went to Ellis Island for dinner! BBQ! I had the chicken and the rest of the group had the ribs. Ellis island is a interesting place but I would definitely go again! I want to try peppermill next time I’m there. I’ll be back for this years 4th of July weekend again!

Definitely go back to Ellis Island for the beer. I was there just before the pandemic and it was $3/pint during happy hour at the Village Pub.
The shrimp cocktail at The Peppermill is incredible! As for Resorts World, I just found out they will have a branch of one of L.A.’s most upscale shopping destinations......Fred Segal!

I still haven't made it to the Peppermill... I've been to Ellis Island several times. In fact when I first came to Las Vegas, I hit their karaoke stage many times... Not great singing on my part but I did have fun.
I visited Pepper Mill a couple years ago. It was very good. My last trip in February I tried the Ellis island BBQ and it was well worth the walk from Bally’s. You guys really need to try the ribs. Yummm

Still haven't made it to Peppermill - it's been on my list for a LONG time. We've been to Ellis Island but went for the steak dinner special. I'm not a beer lover but their home made root beer is amazing as well. I love crispy bacon and your plate of bacon looked PERFECT! Thanks for another great video and looking forward to seeing the new digs when you're in and set up :)
I got the banana split takeout from Peppermill to take back to my room at Bally's. It was perfect. They give you 2 bananas a plastic tub of chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry ice cream along with the toppings of chocolate , marshmellow, strawberry and nuts to make your banana split.
I can't believe you've never been to Ellis Island, its one of our first stops! For future reference, hopefully the karaoke will be up and running again soon, and, the bloody mary breakfast. Looking forward to checking out the front yard upon our return this September!
